Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 04-20-2011

OUR OPEN HOUSE EVENT -

With weather reports of heavy rains forecast for most of the day and cold temperatures, we were very surprised at the big turnout. We had over 75 people in attendance! While the weather kept many owners from bringing their cars, at least one real GNX was there. We had at least 3 customers come all the way from Canada. By the way, gas in Canada is now around $6.50 per gallon. Paul Castle, out of Illinois, reports regular gas is now over $4 per gallon. I did just read in the newspaper that currently in 5 states the average is now over $4 per gallon.

PHOTO 1 - Shows the display that John Hall made for me. It spotlights the 3 different brake bowls and 3 different brake reservoirs that can be found on a Turbo Regal powermaster brake unit today mounted on a beautiful piece of wood. This display he made is unbelievable. It's nice enough to go in your living room! John Hall works in our shipping department, handling wholesale and retail orders, and packaging our parts.

As you look at that photo the first brake bowl to the left, is the original brake accumulator bowl that would have been on your car when it was purchased new. The second one with the yellow wording was GPs replacement for many years that we used to sell. Last, but not least, is the new Cardone reproduction brake bowl. This Cardone reproduction brake bowl has been trouble free since its introduction.

In looking at the 3 brake reservoirs, the first one on the far left is a narrow one. This one is seldom seen today and I believe may have come on some of the early 1985 powermaster systems. The center brake reservoir slants downward and originally came on the other GM models that used a powermaster, such as the full-size stationwagons back in 1986-1987. The last one pictured to the far right is the most common one seen today and technically would be correct. I plan to take this display to the Turbobuick.com Nationals at Richard's next month.

PHOTO 2 - The top photo shows the one GNX that was at the Open House, owned by Richard Zipin. The lower photo shows a portion of our tagged and bagged items. John Hall, who works for us, can be seen on the far left. Richard Zipin is in the center of the photo with his back to the camera, shopping for some goodies.

PHOTO 3 - The top photo shows some of the cars and some of owners that morning in the parking lot. You can see a Turbo Trans Am, and several Turbo Regals. The lower left photo is a Grand National with Ontario, Canada plates. The lower right photo shows a very unusual Turbo Regal. It appears to be based on a 1983 model and designed to look something like the 1982-1/2 Grand National. If the owner sees this, maybe they can give us information about the car.

PHOTO 4 - Shows some of the crowd at our Open House. Everyone gathered inside while I showed some new items, announced the M & Ms winner, and had the drawings for the various raffle items and the 50/50 winner. The second photo shows the results of Paul Castle driving well over 50 miles before realizing not all the trailer tires were holding air! He wound up buying 4 new tires and wheels before making the return trip back to Chicago.

MORE INFORMATION ON DATE CODES -

We made a mistake last week when we explained where the decal was located on the driver's side valve cover. It does not face the intake, but rather is on the side facing the hard plastic wire loom. Richard Clark explained to me in part that the information on this label is a build number for tracking the motor. They can do this by scanning the bar code on the label.

This label is on our personal 1987 Turbo-T and should be on most engines that have less than 100,000 miles on it and have not been dismantled. Once we learn more about the codes on the label we will bring it to your attention.

UNUSUAL CHEVROLET PICK UP FOR SALE -

A local friend of mine, who has a small used car lot near me, is selling an unusual 1993 Chevy short bed truck. It is one of the rare Indy 500 trucks from May 1993. Not sure how many they produced. Truck is black with all the Indy decals intact and looks to be 100% stock and extremely clean. It does have 90,000 miles on it. Truck was just Pennsylvania inspected. They want $10,500 for it. Email me if you or someone you know may be interested in this limited production Indy 500 Chevrolet pick up truck - denniskirban@yahoo.com

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - denniskirban@yahoo.com

ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -

Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - denniskirban@yahoo.com
Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.

2011 BUICK PERFORMANCE GROUP - JULY 29th - 31st, 2011 - HEBRON, OHIO -

The Buick Performance Group event will feature the Turbo Buick "step children" the T-Types and Pontiac's unclaimed child the Turbo Trans Am. The event is at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

They have secured Scott Kelly to attend, as well as Denny Manner, Joe Guzek, Dave Roland, Ron Yuile. Denny has also contacted Tom Wallace in hopes that he will attend. The people mentioned have also contacted other retired Buick Engineers, including Mike Doble to have them attend. There will be displays and "tech" talks, so it should be very informative. I don't think there has ever been that many Turbo G-body Engineers in one place at one time. This is one event you do not want to miss this summer!

Information for the Event can be found here -
