MORE INFORMATION ON DATE CODES -

Last week we showed the label on the driver's side valve cover. This label helps track the engine during production.

We recently heard from Anthony Petridis who has a wealth of information concerning this label.

Since there is a lot of information to explain and digest, Anthony will be posting the information and photos on Turbobuick.com in the "show car and restoration" section. He expects to have this done in the next week or so.

We appreciate all the information Anthony has provided us as we all learn more about various date codes and labels GM used on our cars.

THIS IS SOMETHING WE JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT -

As we reported earlier, we recently purchased a fairly good size load of used and new parts. Among the parts were some new T-Type fender emblems. They were still in the original GM boxes.

PHOTO 1 - Shows 2 T-Type emblems. The top T-Type emblem has the chrome border around the T. The lower emblem has the all-black border around the T.

NOTE - The blue section and the black section under the left part of the T is the piece added to peel away the adhesive backing.

PHOTO 2 - Shows the T-Type emblem and a brand new Century T-Type one-piece emblem. It's interesting to note that the T-Type emblem portion is the exactly the same size and color on the Century T-Type emblem!

Because the turbocharged T-Types (1984-1986) had such low production numbers, it appears that it may be hard to determine what emblem was correct for what year T-Type Regal. In 1983, the first year for the T-Type models, the emblem was a lot smaller. In 1987 it was simply a T in a square on the front fenders and was called a Turbo-T. Confused?

PHOTO 3 - Shows the 2 different GM boxes containing the T-Type fender emblems. The part number on the end of the box is the same for both #25516596. The box on top is the older version and the box on the bottom is the later style box.

The 1986 T-Type we just sold has the chrome trim around the T. I assume the chrome border is the later version emblem.

REMEMBERING MY DAD -

Within 2 weeks of Molly's passing last April, my dad passed away at the end of that same month.

In honor of my dad, I thought I would share a few of the many poems my dad wrote about me and my Mom. He had many of these personal poems framed or perma-plaqued.

PHOTO 4 - The framed poem on the left I never knew existed until we went through a storage building he had near his home. It's a poem he wrote and hand typed two days after my birth in 1947 entitled, "GOD'S BUNDLE OF BLESSING."

The middle poem he presented to me on my birthday in September 1974. He shot this photo while in another truck following my truck taken in the summer of that year. It was during that decade that we would travel over 20,000 miles a year together as he would speak in various churches and we would sell his books. I bought that Ford truck in Rapid City, South Dakota about a year earlier because I had rolled my prior truck outside of Rapid City, South Dakota. That original poem is entitled "LIFES HIGHWAY."

The one on the right was also found in the storage building that I never knew he had done. It is dated March 21, 1972. He wrote that to my Mom on her birthday and it is entitled, "MY BIRD OF PARADISE." He signed it, "All my love eternally, Salem."

We miss you Dad......

ONLY A CONCEPT CAR NOW -

The fine people that build the Rolls Royce's have built a concept electric powered Rolls Phantom. A gas-powered Rolls sell in the $385,000 range. If the electric one sees production, rumor has it will be priced around $250,000. You would think a buyer with the means, would not have any worries about buying gas at $5 or more a gallon.

The electric battery pack to power this hefty Rolls weighs in at 1,411 pounds! What that means is when you have to replace it, you best not only have the Chauffeur on hand to remove it, but the butler, chef, and gardener as well! I have no idea if it has a handle on it to remove it like the 12-volt batteries you see today!

UNUSUAL CHEVROLET PICK UP FOR SALE - LOWERED PRICE -

A local friend of mine, who has a small used car lot near me, is selling an unusual 1993 Chevy short bed truck. It is one of the rare Indy 500 trucks from May 1993. Not sure how many they produced. Truck is black with all the Indy decals intact and looks to be 100% stock and extremely clean. It does have 90,000 miles on it. Truck was just Pennsylvania inspected. NEW LOWER PRICE - $9,875.00. Email me if you or someone you know may be interested in this limited production Indy 500 Chevrolet pick up truck - denniskirban@yahoo.com

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - denniskirban@yahoo.com

ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -

Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - denniskirban@yahoo.com

Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.

2011 BUICK PERFORMANCE GROUP - JULY 29th - 31st, 2011 - HEBRON, OHIO -

The Buick Performance Group event will feature the Turbo Buick "step children" the T-Types and Pontiac's unclaimed child the Turbo Trans Am. The event is at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

They have secured Scott Kelly to attend, as well as Denny Manner, Joe Guzek, Dave Roland, Ron Yuile. Denny has also contacted Tom Wallace in hopes that he will attend. The people mentioned have also contacted other retired Buick Engineers, including Mike Doble to have them attend. There will be displays and "tech" talks, so it should be very informative. I don't think there has ever been that many Turbo G-body Engineers in one place at one time. This is one event you do not want to miss this summer!

Information for the Event can be found here -
