Reproduction FIBERGLASS HOOD
A great addition to go with the fiberglass trunk lid and our popular fiberglass bumpers. Your stock turbo hood weighs in at 55 pounds and this fiberglass reproduction is only 28 pounds. Fiberglass items are a great way to shave off weight.
It’s made of hand-laid, two-ply fiberglass with a black gelcoat finish and comes ready to sand and paint to match your car.
NOTE - The underside of the fiberglass trunk lid is a rough gelcoat. Since this is fiberglass and not steel, hoods and trunk lids may have slight waves and imperfections.
We recommend the hood be cured in the sun or on the car for 3 or 4 days before any necessary body work or painting is done. We recommend a professional body shop sand, prep, paint and install this hood.
The hood is a direct bolt-on design using all the same hardware as the stock hood. You MUST remove the stock gas hinges as they are too strong for this lighter hood. In place of the stock gas hinges, you must purchase the correct gas hinges we offer (Part #1516) to hold the hood open.
NOTE - For best results, we recommend the hood be sanded, prepped, painted, and installed by a qualified body shop.
SHIPPING NOTE - Because of the size of this fiberglass hood, it must be shipped by truck freight, which requires the hood to be delivered to a business address, NOT to a residential home. You MUST make delivery arrangements to have the hood received by a business location such as a body shop, auto garage or your work. We suggest having it shipped to the body shop that will be painting and installing the hood.
