Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 08-31-2011
RAIN - RAIN - RAIN - EVERYWHERE -
Another weather record has fallen on our area for the month of August. We have now had just over 19 inches of rain. The old record was 13 inches. August is usually a dry month and a month when many big organizations plan their car shows.
We got lucky with the weather for our event, but this past weekend proved not so fortunate for this area as Hurricane Irene came through. I attended "The Wheels of Time" event in Macungie, PA with Linda Vaughn, Miss Hurst, on Friday and Saturday. Even though the weather was iffy, they still had about 1,000 cars on Friday (which turned out to be gorgeous,) but Saturday the numbers dropped as the weather started to turn by mid-afternoon. The ground was already saturated from rains the previous weekend and the day before (Thursday.)
We stayed home the rest of the weekend, putting outside furniture away, getting the generator out, filling gas cans, and preparing for the hurricane. Fortunately, we were lucky. The power went out at our house and our son's house on Sunday morning and it finally came back on late yesterday (Tuesday). Several huge trees have been uprooted near our house taking out power lines. We have been fortunate no trees have fallen on our properties, just many, many branches of all shapes and sizes. Since we had no electric, cable or internet at home, I did this week's Inner Circle from the office.
Also, if you are waiting for digital photos from the photographer at our Reunion event, there was a delay. She was working on the files when the storm hit. She just got her electric back last night, so you should be getting your emailed photos by the end of the week.
Even with the threat of Irene, I was amazed at the number of high-end street rods that ventured to Macungie for their Wheels of Time annual event. Certain cars just stood out from the others. Check out their website - http://www.wheelsoftime.org/
PHOTO 1 - This is a 1942 Ford coupe. Since it's a 1942, it is quite rare as all the U.S. car manufacturers had to cease production due to World War II. The choice of this color green was a probably a gamble but, it really looked outstanding. The lower photo is looking at one of the rear wheels as the rear has been tubbed. The car was supercharged. The attention to detail throughout this car was evident from any angle.
PHOTO 2 - There's an old saying, "Pack the biggest engine in the smallest car." This builder took it to heart. Taking a 1960 Nash Metropolitan and applying an unusual two-tone paint scheme made this a unique pocket rocket, as seen in the upper left photo. The upper right photo shows the engine compartment. The lower left photo shows the impressive interior. The lower right photo shows the back end. Notice that even the cloth parachute has the Nash logo embroidered in it. Too bad Nash is no longer in business, because this would have made a nice display at their headquarters!
The company that did the body and paintwork is Blast from the Past located in Pottstown, PA. It was just completed this past winter. Their website is - www.blastfromthepaststrods.com/
It is a 1960 Metropolitan, powered by a big block Chevy using the best of everything. It was built for the street and puts out approximately 700 hp. The owner is Rodger Purdy, who owns a chassis shop in Chesterfield, New Jersey.
PHOTO 3 - The two special guests were Linda Vaughn "Miss Hurst" and Bruce Larson. I took the top left photo of them at the Wheels of Time event. The upper right photo shows one of Bruce's restored USA-1 dragsters. The lower left photo shows the TV Tommie Ivo dragster that Bruce Larson has reconstructed. It is part of his personal collection. The lower right photo shows the display sign with the dragster.
PHOTO 4 - We had Linda sign several of our Kirban Reunion dash plaques. The photos on the left show the unsigned Reunion dash plaque and an autographed dash plaque. Each comes with a "Letter of Authenticity," which is shown on the photo on the right. Check out the Parts for Sale listing since both are for sale. If you do not receive this as a weekly Inner Circle email, you can call our office to purchase these dash plaques - 215-766-1611 x 0.
IMPORTANT NOTE - COMPUTER PROBLEMS -
We have had to replace several computers this week. In the process, some emails to us may have been lost. If you have sent us an email to email@example.com OR firstname.lastname@example.org and did not receive a response from us, please send it again.
NEWS ON THE REPRODUCTION BUICK WINDOW STICKERS -
Our source is currently working on having the GNX window stickers available also. We expect to have information and pricing on our website in the next week or so.
In the meantime if you do not have the factory invoice we recommend you contact - www.gmmediaachive.com - in order to secure your original invoice. That invoice tells you the original selling dealership, which is one of the key features you will want on your window sticker in order to be accurate. It will also list your options.
IMPORTANT - SPECIAL REQUEST - We still need borrow an original or get a good color photocopy of the 1984 and 1985 Turbo Regal window sticker. This will enable us to get a copy properly made for other Buick owners. Triple A Enterprises has the ability to match the font style GM used, so quality of the reproduction window stickers is very good. We will have all the info shortly, so we can offer this additional service to our customers.
NOW AVAILABLE - ALKY ALCOHOL INJECTION SYSTEM -
We now have this proven alcohol injection system available. See information below.
1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
ALKY ALCOHOL INJECTION SYSTEM
This Alky alcohol injection system has been available for many years. It is by far the best method to increase boost levels using 91-octane fuel without the worry of detonation (destroying the engine).
This AC-109 kit includes everything you need to do an install on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal, as seen in these photos.
It is helpful if you already have installed a knock gauge to monitor knock readings, a fuel pressure gauge to monitor fuel pressure, and a boost gauge to assist in setting up this system for activation.
The kit includes a heavy-duty pump featuring over 100-plus PSI to insure flow in any conditions. The unit will not rust.
Kit also includes a brand new OEM-style 3 bar MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor (stock is a 2 bar), an original OEM coolant overflow bottle that installs in the stock location, a pressure line filter which prevents contaminant's from clogging the nozzle assembly. The high-flow nozzle delivers atomized volume at the highest pressures. The small dash mounted controller makes it almost undetectable in your car.
All the wiring is heavy duty with shielding to prevent any kind of interference with vehicles electronics. Wire loom is included so the installation looks factory once completed.
All the parts are designed to last and is a proven product among 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owners.
This kit gives you peace of mind that enables you to run high levels of boost without the fear of detonation.
This is a progressive system design once again for 100% methanol. We can not stress enough the gains you get by going with a kit that's built to hold up to 100%.
The actual heavy-duty pump has a one-year warranty. All the other electronic components have a two-year warranty.
PRE-INSTALL CHECK LIST - Make sure the engine is in tune with no abnormalities. Abnormalities could mean it has a rod knock, spewing oil out of the breathers, or blowing steam out of the exhaust. Next, make sure there are no drivability issues; i.e. stumbles, runs rough or black smoke out the exhaust.
A great way to eliminate detonation with higher boost levels.

GRAY PALLEX SEAT MATERIAL UPDATE -
Currently we have less than half of our roll left, as several customers have bought 2 and 3 sections of it to do several cars. So, if you have a 1985-1987 Grand National, you may want to get a sample of this material to see if it's something you want to have tucked away. Most of the pallex material you find today from companies sells for over $75 to $95 a yard.
We do NOT have the black pallex material. In many cases, the original black material should be good enough to simply re-use and install the new gray pallex material. The black is a lot easier to match whereas the gray is something that can vary. Keep in mind, before we sell you any material, please email me your name and address so I can send you a sample. That way, you know the exact shade of gray material you would receive - email@example.com
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - firstname.lastname@example.org.
ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -
Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - email@example.com.
Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.

For the turbo V-6 guys, John Gallina and crew will return once again with Kenny Duttweiler for even deeper blasts into the 6's, eclipsing last year's 6.85/204 mph pass! Hope to see all you hard-core Buick fans there to share the fun! No pre-registration is necessary.

IN CLOSING -
Hope everyone on the east coast recovers quickly from Irene. Our office felt the earthquake last Tuesday, August 23rd, and then we endured Hurricane Irene.
This has certainly been an unusual year for events, from mother nature and otherwise. Hope the rest of the year brings calmer weather.
