Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 04-09-2014

Sometimes simple things, such as ground connections, can be overlooked if you are experiencing any unusual electrical problems with your Turbo Regal. Under the hood you have six basic ground connections. One connection is to the inner fender by the battery. You have two on the driver's side inner fender side by side. These ground connectors usually never become an issue. Another visible ground connection is back on the firewall, slightly towards the driver’s side of the car. You also have two ring connectors that ground the mass airflow sensor, EGR solenoid, fuel pump relay, fan delay relay, ECM and digital dash, if your car has that feature. These two rings are located on the passenger's side, just below the valve cover and attach to the engine itself.

PHOTO 1 - The photo to the left shows one of the ground connections to the inner passenger's side fender by the battery. The one ground wire comes off the battery to the inner fender and a ground wire from the wire harness attach here. Not shown is the opposite inner fender that has two ground locations for the factory wire harness ground. The photo to the right shows the braided transmission ground strap and black ground wire from the powermaster brake unit that goes to the firewall. This is located slightly towards the driver’s side of the car. This is the one you want to make sure is tight and you have both the black ground wire from the powermaster and a braided ground strap going from the transmission to the firewall. In some cases, if the transmission has been rebuilt, this braided ground wire may have been left off. Our upgraded H4 headlight harness ground connectors attach to both the inner fender existing grounds, so everything appears original under the hood. Our upgraded headlight harness kit is Part #7531 or if you want the entire kit with four new H4 glass headlights, it is Part #7532.

The Old Cars Report Price Guide comes out 6 times a year and covers the latest values related to domestic and imported cars, as well as domestic trucks. It has six basic categories - #1 excellent a 95-point example, #2 well restored example, #3 a very good operating original vehicle, #4 driveable needing only minor work, #5 restorable needing a complete restoration, and #6 basic parts car at best. Going by the #3 condition, the 1986 Regal T-Type is valued at $8,300 and the 1986 Grand National is valued at $13,950. For 1987 the 1987 Regal Turbo-T in #3 condition is valued at $10,800, the Turbo T Limited is valued at $11,700, and the 1987 Grand National is valued at $15,080. The GNX comes in at $41,630 in #3 condition. The GNX tops out at $92,500 for a #1 car. Years ago I was instrumental in getting the Limited Regal Turbos listed as a separate category in the Old Cars Price Guide. It would be nice if they also broke out the WE4s as a new category for 1987. In case you're wondering, they have no listing for the values of Yugos!

PHOTO 2 - The photo to the left shows the cover of the Jan-Feb issue of Old Cars Report Price Guide cover. It is available at major newsstands and sells for $5.99. It covers cars and trucks from 1901 through 2006. The photo to the right shows the inside page reflecting the 1986-1987 Regals and related Buicks and how they are listed in each category of condition.

While looking through some of my collection of literature I found this interesting full-color Buick flyer. It has been punched for a 3-ring binder, so it may have been part of a Buick Dealer Album at some point. I have never seen another flyer like this.

PHOTO 3 - The photo on the left shows the full page of this flyer. The top right photo shows the printed copy with the blue Regal right side up. In the photo on the lower right we flip it so the 1986 Grand National photo and descriptive copy is right side. What is interesting is the last line in both descriptions reads “Regal could turn your world around.” This is an extremely rare flyer in my opinion.

A local long-time friend of mine has acquired a very restorable 1956 Thunderbird he wants to sell. I believe it is priced very reasonable for someone to drive and enjoy, and eventually restore to a higher standard. If you do restoration or own a body shop, this car is an excellent candidate. The car is basically a one owner and was always a local car in our area. It has the optional original 312 V8 engine in it, the optional hardtop, and continental tire kit on the back. Receipts that come with the car total over $12,000 and cover the engine, transmission fuel lines, brake lines gas tank, brakes, radiator, new tires and much more. The floors and the trunk are solid. It does need inner and outer rockers and complete exterior and interior restoration. If you are coming to our Open House this coming Saturday, arrangement can be made to see the car then, unless it is sold. The price is $16,000. My friend may be open to partial trades. For more information, contact me direct - [email protected]

PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows the 1956 Thunderbird from the front. The top right shows the back end of the Thunderbird. The lower left shows the dash. The car has no carpets, so you can see the floor pan. The lower right photo shows the rebuilt 312 engine.

A friend of mine, who has an automotive repair shop, is selling one of his friend's cars (who is reducing his collection.) I saw this 1966 Buick GS Coupe 4-speed earlier this week. It is located about 25 minutes south of our warehouse. If you are interested, arrangements can probably be made with my friend Mark to see it at our Open House this Saturday.

Early GS Skylarks are scarce. This is blue with a redone black bucket seat interior. The number matching engine has been rebuilt. Engine is a 401 V8. What makes it rare is the fact it's a factory 4-speed with the factory mini console, complete with the factory Buick tach mounted on the console. The trunk is solid. The car has manual steering with later model disc brakes, factory Ralley chrome wheels, new shocks and new tires. It has a non-stock steering wheel on it. Car shows 62,000 miles, which may be correct. Body is very straight. It would be an excellent restoration project that can be driven and enjoyed now.

The price is $11,900. Email me direct - [email protected] - for photos and more information.

Because of the many requests, we have struck a deal with Triple A Enterprises to offer exclusively for our customer's, reproduction Window Stickers for the 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regals only. They have been doing the Pontiacs and Corvettes for many years.

Since this is a part time job for Triple A Enterprises, they are limited to the number of Window Stickers they can do. The turn around time will be about 2 weeks.

We have not yet worked out a price structure. Watch for more details later this month. Again, we will only be able to offer 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regal reproduction Window Stickers.

We were able to lower the price on our Part #6949, 1984-1987 Regal (All Models including Turbo) - BRAND NEW Power Window Motor Kit. We found another supplier. According to what I've researched, this is the fastest window motor available for the Regals.

They are in stock. The new lower price is just $34.95 each. The same motor works for either door, so you need to purchased two to upgrade both doors.

Here is a link to this new power window motor on our website:

Honda now can claim the world record with its 116 HP lawnmower. It beat the earlier record by 30 more miles per hour. They were trying to reach 130 mph, but fell short topping out at 116.57 mph. Yes, it also can cut lawns!

So, will Sears or John Deere try and take the world record crown from Honda? While some of you may like cutting the lawn every 5-7 days, I find it loses its charm after a week every summer! I want to hire the guy that does the lawns for the funeral homes or golf courses!

We will have our new banner on display at our Open House on Saturday. It will appeal to any 1987 Turbo Regal owner. It's ideal for display at car shows, to hang in your garage, or to hang on your living room wall. Available in two sizes - 18" x 36" and 24" x 48". They are currently being made. We worked a deal with the person that owns the rights to the photo that we used.

If you are not attending the Open House, and wish to see a photo and pricing, send me an email - [email protected]

This oil tube and breather assembly was not one of our parts but was a part made by another source and we purchased their remaining Inventory. Be sure to call our office if you want one. To see a photo, go to 03-12-2013 Inner Circle, Photo 1. The tube is straight and measures 4" tall overall and the breather has a chrome cap on the top and measures 3" in diameter, billet construction. The price is $29 each, which includes shipping to any of the basic 48 states.

You must call the office to order this, as it is not on our website - 215-766-1611 x 0. We have about 12 of them left. This is a product we bought from another company.

If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]

Once again we will have the Upgraded H4 Headlight Kit, Part #7530, on sale at our Spring Open House. The normal price is $129.95. This is the complete kit headlights and the H4 Upgraded Headlight Harness. You can buy it at our Spring Open House for $100, a $29.95 saving. You must call our office and tell Christina - 215-766-1611 x 0 - so we have one aside for you.

Also, we will have the H4 Upgraded Headlight harness, Part #7531. It is normally $67.95 and the Show Special at our Spring Open House is just $55. You will not have to call in advance to hold one for the show.

Also, we should have from another source new GNX reproduction wheels on display and pricing on them. This company has made them in several different offsets to work with a stock Grand National and also for ones that have the reproduction fender flares installed.

The latest weather forecast is sunny and highs in the mid-1950s. Bruce Shaw will be conducting his seminar around 10:30. Be sure to see me personally with any cores you wish to trade in for credit or any parts you want to trade with us. We currently have a need for 1986-1987 original steering wheel cores.

Remember, any type of muscle car is welcome, since it is not promoted as a car show. We have quite a number of raffle items and a unique array of items for our "no reserve" auction. Our latest new parts, including the upgraded steering lower steering shaft and steering bushing, will be on display so you can see the differences firsthand.

I just got an email from Jordan Polites, who recently purchased our upgraded GM lower steering shaft. He reports his steering is like new again. He will have his Turbo Regal at our event and you can see this upgraded lower steering shaft installed on his car.

Due to a schedule conflict, Chris' Custom Auto Apparel is not able to attend our Open House.

We are expecting our second skid of front and rear Spoolfool Filler Panels soon. We can give you a good price on shipping, since shipping would be from our Plumsteadville, PA zip code to your zip code. However, you must act quickly if you want either the single-piece rear filler or the Spoolfools front set. All the front filler sets may be spoken for. However, we do have some one-piece Spoolfool rears available, either for shipping or to be picked up at our Spring Open House, April 12th 2014.

Remember, if you want us to hold any filler panels to be picked up at the Open House, be sure to call Christina - 215-766-1611 x 0.

1975-1987 Buick Regal (All 3.8 Engine Models, Including Turbo Regals) –

This new heavy-duty water pump comes complete with a new gasket and has a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.

It is better to buy a new pump rather than a rebuilt or remanufactured pump.

This brand new water pump is an upgraded unit with a heavy-duty bearing and 10% better flow.

We also offer a brand new stock water pump, Part #7381.

A nice upgrade when you rebuild the engine or need to replace the original water pump. It’s best to also flush the coolant system when replacing the water pump.

Another excellent replacement part for any engine restoration.

Because we get requests and since we offer the Alky Kit, Part #7341, we now offer two dash appliques so you can install the switch in the dash and have it look factory.

These appliques are formatted for the Alky Kit we sell. Since the Alky Kit is for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal, we note those years in our description. However, it will also fit the 1984 and 1985 Regal dash.

This high-quality applique comes with a self-adhesive backing for easy installation.

We offer two styles as shown - one has both rear defogger and remote right mirror option (Part #7582) and the other has just the remote right mirror option (Part #7583). These are the only two we offer.

This applique insert is made by the same company that makes our other applique inserts and is a perfect match in material, font style, and color as the original applique on the dash.

This high-quality applique comes with a self-adhesive backing for easy installation.

Another great interior restoration item.

These switch plates are designed to fit into the 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal console ashtray. Switches are 16 amp rated. The finish is black brushed aluminum. Switches are on-and-off format, low profile, so you can close the ashtray lid. So, whether the switch is on or off, the lid can still be closed.

We offer two options - 3-switch plate (Part #7584) and 4-switch plate (Part #7585).

NOTE - Unfortunately, because of the finish, these are difficult to photograph, but the quality is excellent.

Another great interior item.

7584 - 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Console Ashtray 3-SWITCH Plate - $26.95

7585 - 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -

In addition to offering black outside door handles, we now offer brand new plastic gaskets for the exterior door handles.

We recommend replacing the plastic door gaskets whenever you replace the exterior door handles or have your car repainted. Since the originals are plastic, over a period of time the gaskets can become brittle due to age and heat.

These gaskets are a unique molded part and keeps the metal door handle from chipping the paint.

Gaskets are sold as a pair.

We also offer Part #7186, 1984-1987 Turbo Regal - Reproduction Black Outside Door Handles (2).

Another nice finishing touch for any restoration.

7588 - 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
GM New Plastic Gaskets (2) for Exterior Door Handles - $17.95 / 2-piece set

KIRBAN PERFORMANCE OPEN HOUSE - SATURDAY - APRIL 12, 2014 - 2014 - RAIN or SHINE - 9 am until 3 pm.

Breaking news - We should have another companies reproduction of the GNX 16 inch wheels on display and available for sale. This company has done all the proper offsets to work with a stock Grand National and also the GNX offsets so they look proper under a Grand National that has the reproduction flares installed.

Richard Clark is 90% sure he will be able to attend our annual Spring Open House. This event is shaping up to be one of our biggest Spring events.

If you are arriving in the area Friday, be sure to stop by. We are planning to go to dinner at a nearby restaurant in Doylestown around 6 pm. Call us if you plan to join us for dinner - 215-766-1611 x 0.

We will have our usual program, including a freshly prepared lunch by chef Russ and Nancy doing all the cooking. Our usual M & M contest, a no reserve auction, Free Yum Yums donuts in the AM with coffee. Special sale prices and new products will be on display.

CONFIRMED VENDORS & GUESTS - Pete Hoffman will have parts for sale, and I will also have used parts for sale (known as the "tagged and bagged" sale items). Both Terry Shaw and Bruce Shaw will be doing a seminar. So be sure to put this event on your calendar.

GREAT NEWS - Mike Bernard, owner of Spoolfools, has donated a set of his front fillers and his popular one-piece rear filler for our Open House to be raffled off for the Molly Scholarship Fund. Over a $650 value is up for grabs at our Spring Open House. Special thanks to Mike for his generous contribution.

I am already putting aside some unique items for the no reserve auction. Our upgraded H4 Headlight kit with the special plug-and-play harness, Part #7530, will be on sale for just $100. You save $29.95. You must call and reserve a H4 Upgraded headlight kit so we have one for you - 215-766-1611 x 0. Also on sale will be the 1981-1987 H4 Upgraded plug-and-play harness, Part #7531, which allows you to use any style H4 headlight format. The sale price is $55, a savings of $12.95.

We will have a number of the upgraded GM lower steering shafts available. If you purchase one at our Spring Open House, the sale price is just $79.95, a savings of $20 over retail and shipping. You will be able to see firsthand the difference between your original lower steering shaft, the Jeep lower steering shaft and this later GM lower steering shaft and why it is the one that is in demand. The part number for this upgraded refurbished GM used lower steering shaft is #7574. It is now on our website, but you have to contact me personally to order - [email protected]

The date this year for the "Ride for Molly" event is Saturday, May 10, 2014. According to Ralph Shelley, one of our Turbo Regal customers, he expects that 3 or 4 Turbo Buicks from northern California will participate this year.

This year the ride originates from the site of their first two memorial rides, the very popular Temecula Creek Inn. It will then go along one of Molly's favorite routes to Borrego Springs, with a luncheon planned at the Red Octotillo, located in the lodge built in 1948. This is truly a throwback to the 1950's and an experience you won't want to miss.

As in the past, all monies contributed by the attendees will support a college fund for Molly’s daughter Brooke. If you are not able to attend but wish to contribute, a check made payable to “Molly Memorial Education Fund” can be mailed to: Molly Memorial Education Fund, c/o Alan DeCarr, 6446 Fairwind Circle, Huntington Beach, Ca. 92648.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

We are hoping that winter has finally gone away by our Open House. Just now hoping for a sunny warm dry day! If you are coming, bring any good used parts you wish to trade or cash in, as we are a buyer if a deal can be struck.
