6-30-10 Inner Circle

Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 06-30-10 -

I was out at the "GM AT CARLISLE" event for just Friday.

Unfortunately, our area has been locked in to a heat wave for more than a week and it was really hot walking around all the vendors.

As one would expect, the new 2010 Camaro was quite popular with a good showing.

Several major tuners had examples on display with various upgrades including SLP, Lingenfelter, Callaway, just to name a few.

Bonnie and Scott Bresalier out of New York always make the trip to GM at Carlisle with their award-winning 1986 Grand National.

We have featured their car in the past as it sports a complete black and grey leather interior. Making their car even more remarkable is the attention to detail over the many years they have owned and driven this car. It has over 165,000 miles and still wins at shows! Last year it took 1 of 12 that Carlisle officials pick as the "Elite 12" for Friday.

Photo 1 - Shows their 1981 Buick Pace Car jacket and an insert showing a close up of the patch that Bonnie and Scott had on display with their Grand National. If you recall in our June 2nd Inner Circle in the first photo, we show this actual logo patch that I said was on the Pace car jacket.

Photo 2 - The top photo shows a neat display of a model Grand National and a cop car they had on display under the hood of their Grand National. Even the lights on the cop car were flashing! The lower photo shows the other display they had set up on their center console. It actually turned on the mirrored turntable.

Photo 3 - In the parking lot I spotted a 1985 T-Type for sale. Unfortunately, I had to shoot these photos through the door windows, so there are reflections in the photos. This car has the very rare cloth Lear Sieglar seat option. You can see the black lumbar adjustment knob on the back portion. Notice the small separation of the front part that would extend out on the base cushion. These seats were in very nice condition.

In the car corral there was a 1985 black T-Type for sale that had the optional Lear Sieglar front leather bucket seats, and the rear seat was standard cloth. I have stripped one T-Type that had front leather Lear Sieglar bucket seats and rear Lear Sieglar leather seats. I can only assume you could either have all leather or leather front bucket seats with standard cloth rear seats.

Adding to the confusion surrounding Lear Sieglar seats is at least on the Grand Nationals that had them the Power Six logo on the bucket seat was in color. On the T-Type I saw, it was simply outlined on the grey leather (no color). We already mentioned in an earlier Inner Circle that even Buick had two different spellings for the word Sieglar!

Photo 4 - There was probably a total of 3 Turbo Regals for sale on Friday at GM at Carlisle. Going by memory, 2 or all 3 were the 1984-1985 variety. You can draw your own conclusion on this top photo viewing the quarter panel of this Grand National for sale. The Grand National emblem was also on the front fender as well! This lower photo shows one of the 1984-1985 Grand Nationals that was for sale. The paint looked fairly fresh, however as you can see, it needed front fillers bad!

There were also several nice original Monte Carlo SS's for sale. There were even a few of the 2 Plus 2 Pontiacs and the sister car Monte Carlos that had the equally large rear glass window and small trunk for sale. Production numbers on both of these cars are low, but so is their value among collectors. In my opinion, the Pontiac front end on the 2 Plus 2 in that vintage borders on ugly.

Did I see any good buys? Yes, several that I thought were a good deal, but not enough to entice me personally

Next week - more from GM at Carlisle.

I will be attending the 38th Annual Pontiac Oakland Club International Convention, the POCI National Meet in Charleston, West Virginia the week of July 6th through the 10th. Actually, I'm one of the scheduled speakers on Wednesday, July 7th at 12 noon at the Civic Center in Charleston. I will be talking on ZDDPlus™, Hurst/Campbell, and of course Pontiac GTOs.

"Ronny and the Daytonas" that had the hit recording "GTO" back in 1964 will be in concert Saturday. Some of you may recall we actually had John "Bucky" Wilkin at one of our early 1990s GTO/Buick Reunion Events. He was the lead singer in the group and actually wrote the song while he was in high school. We also had Davy Jones of the "Monkees" at one of our Reunion Events.

So, if you reside in or around Charleston, West Virginia, and want to see several hundred nice Pontiacs, stop by and say hello. For more information, go to www.poci.org

Local to us is one of the rare 1999 Silver Arrow Rivieras for sale. It is #008, according to the factory emblem on the dash. The Silver Arrow logo is embroidered in the headrests as well as the floor mats. Car was actually purchased new at the same dealership where I have a salesman's license.

Car has around 73,000 miles, one owner, nice overall condition, but not perfect. Battery is brand new and tires are like new.

They only built 200 of these at the end of production from what I am told. Similar to what Buick did with the GNX at the end of Regal Grand National production. I think they want $6,500 for the car.

We can supply photos and more info as needed. For more information, email me direct - [email protected]

We need stock 1986-1987 Turbo Regal turbos for cores.

For each complete turbo you send us, you will received either a check for $75 for or a Letter of Credit for $100 for any parts listed on our website. Just specify which you want for your turbo.

By sending us complete cores, it enables us to supply other owners with rebuilt units and also our TA 49 versions. The TA 49 turbos we sell require the use of the stock exhaust housing. By using that section, no low-end torque is lost in regular street driving.

THANK YOU for helping to keep the parts available for other Turbo Regal owners.

Car enthusiasts will be thrilled to have this stand-up replica of one of the most highly collectible and most recognized printed display - MISS HURST. This is reminiscent of the popular original 57" stand-up display, famous from the mid-1960s.

This gorgeous replica is now available in a limited production (only 7,500 will be available) 24" tall stand-up personally autographed by Linda Vaughn. We are known for our very rare collection of Hurst memorabilia items and original Hurst artwork. Hurst Performance was the most recognized shifter company during the 1960s and 1970s.

Linda Vaughn has always been recognized as "Miss Hurst" and "Miss Hurst Golden Shifter." Even today, her public appearances always draw a crowd.

Now you can own your own collectible stand-up. Each comes with a color Certificate of Authenticity complete with a photo of her signing the stand-up.

An excellent collectible for any car enthusiast, sure to bring back fond memories of the muscle car era! This is a perfect addition for a desk, car display or for your garage or den. It also makes a great gift for any car nut or mechanic.

One of the parts in the works for summer is the factory-style HEADERS for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. We expect to also have the driver's side alone available as well. They will be made from 409 stainless. As delivery time draws closer, we will have a special introductory price to determine initial sales response.

We have recently been informed that the mounting flange will be changed to accept the various style cylinder heads.

Watch for updates on this project.

Got any Turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - [email protected] -

Also we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.

It appears that the GM supply of the factory 1986-1987 GM factory original molded boost line kits are dwindling and may already have disappeared from GM's warehouses inventory. We currently have a decent supply of them.

This is a very critical part, for any 1986-1987 Turbo Regal, since it is needed to control boost. They have 3 specially formed hoses with a special size diameter T in between two of the molded hoses. These also have the GM wording on them.

Over a period of time, heat can cause the hoses to swell and crack. While they last, we have them available for $44.95 plus shipping, Part #6644. Supplies are limited.

We have the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - GM Air Flow Duct (from turbo to MAF sensor), Part #6536 in stock for $61.95. Just a few left now.

We still have a few brand new GM right hand side marker lights with the blackout package. This is the marker light that attaches to the side of the headlight bezels. Price is $61.95 plus shipping.

If you are interested in any of these parts, you must call our office to purchase it. Some of these close out items are just about gone from the GM parts system.

NOTE - If you know of a GM or Buick Turbo event for this year, let us know and we can post it in our weekly Turbo Regal Inner Circle so our members are aware of the event.

The best way to stay informed with the show season is to check out the various Turbo Buick forums.

NOTE - THANKS to those who have already contributed or plan to contribute to this great cause. We've heard from readers who have had Breast Cancer affect their immediate family. Thanks so much.

Our daughter-in-law Carrie has committed to a 60-mile, 3-day walk in October to raise money for Cancer research. Many of you have met her at our events. She needs to have $2300 raised by July 1st. If you would like to help with this fundraiser for a good cause, here is the information and a message from Carrie.

Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ Walk - Carrie Kirban

I have taken on an incredible challenge. On October 15-17, 2010, I'll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days, camping out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with me. I have committed to raise $2300 to be able to participate in the walk. The money I need to raise goes to cancer research and I pay for my expenses separately.

It's for an event called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™. Net proceeds from the Komen 3-Day for the Cure are invested in community-based breast health programs and breast cancer research.

You never know who this disease will strike next. My prayers go out to all of my friends and family that have been affected with this disease. Let's find a Cure! To make a donation, go to - The3Day.org - Click on Donate and search for my personal fundraising page under Carrie Kirban.

Now that summer is officially here, there is something I want to make sure I do before the summer ends.

That is going to a nearby junk yard/salvage yard looking for parts for your car. I try to go at least once each summer, mostly to recall those days of my youth rather than out of necessity.

Many of you have probably made similar trips in your youth. Be sure to do it if a junkyard still exists near you that allows you to "check over their inventory." Today the cars are a little newer but, if you close your eyes, it's like being 16 all over again.
