MUSTANG V8 1/3 SCALE MODEL ENGINE –

I got this highly-detailed Mustang V8 model engine kit as a Christmas gift from Darrell, Carrie and Devyn. This is a German-made plastic kit that is nothing short of having unbelievable detail. Even the instruction manual (over 100 pages) is extremely detailed. Nothing gets glued; all the pieces either snapped together or get screwed together.

It took Carrie almost 1 hour just to remove all the parts from the molded connectors. They claim it should take 2 hours to build the engine. Once completed, it works by battery and even imitates the engine sound. Since it’s made in clear plastic, you can see the push rods, rockers and pistons move up in down in the proper sequence, and a red light shows when each spark plug is fired. The amount of detail is nothing short of amazing.

The other weekend after dinner, Devyn and Darrell sat down to take on the challenge of building this Mustang V8 engine. I took the position of observer!

Devyn kept Darrell on focus. Like most guys, we seldom read directions! Being the engineer, Devyn was geared to following the directions exactly in the proper order, whereas Darrell would try and skip ahead. As they worked together, Darrell gave Devyn lessons on the various names for each part. It was a great learning tool. They built it in less than 2 hours.

It’s an amazing model. To fully grasp how impressive this 1:3 scale engine is, see the YouTube link below. If you are looking for a challenging gift for a motorhead in your family, I highly recommend this kit. Too bad the model company did not select the 3.8 SFI Buick engine to make.

NEW REPRODUCTION PART AVAILABLE AND COLLECTIBLES FOR SALE –

This week we had to mix several parts together in order to squeeze in all the photos.

PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows the new reproduction exterior Grand National emblems we now carry. They are in stock, but may not be on our website yet. If you want to order emblems, it’s best to call our office - 215-766-1611. The price is $54.95 each, part #6855, plus shipping. Or 3 for $149.95, part #7856, plus shipping. (You save $14.90)

I have no idea how many different reproductions are currently being offered. These are the proper colors in the correct finish. These are identical to the originals. I suggest you buy a set of 3 to be assured they are a matched set once on your car.

The other day I was at one of the machine shops that has done some of our projects over the last 25 years. One of the employees retired and he cleaned out his work area. He discovered a batch of the GNX number plates that he had made maybe 15 years ago. These are blems that were uncut. The red color in the “GN” is out of registration. They can be seen in the top right photo. Makes for a neat novelty item for any GNX owner! They are in the Rare Parts section for sale.

Also, since we mentioned the Ford V8 engine, in the bottom left photo we show a clear plastic display of the 3.8 SFI engine we had made a number of years ago. It is also listed for sale under the Rare Parts section.

Last, but not least, I picked up a Johnny Lightning Buick grey T-Type diecast HO scale car. It is pictured in the bottom right photo. It is also listed for sale under the Rare Parts section.

A RARE EXAMPLE OF A 1986 GRAND NATIONAL - FOR SALE -

NOTE FROM DENNIS - This pristine 1986 Grand National hardtop is being offered for sale by its third owner. I bought and sold it to the second owner in 2007. This Grand National was at our place in 2007 when Molly was here and Molly autographed the SPID trunk label.

FOR SALE - 1986 Grand National hardtop. The previous owner (second owner) even has pictures of when the car was in my Kirban pole building. The current owner has those photos as well. When I sold it to the second owner, the car had 29,000 miles on it. Now in 2020 it has 31,000 miles on it. If you do the math, it has gone about 3,000 miles in a dozen years. Not many Grand Nationals have as much documentation as this car, plus it was one of our cars we sold back in the day.

INFORMATION FROM THE OWNER -
The Grand National is a hardtop model, 1 of just 5512 built for 1986. This is one of about 200 autographed by Molly. The car is fully documented, all numbers matching, includes certified appraisal from Terry Shaw. Car is 98% factory original including all the paint. Car has never been in any accidents and has a clean CarFax. Car comes with its original Eagle GT tires, exhaust, black accumulator and black brake switch. I am the third owner. The second owner (whom I purchased it from) bought it from Dennis Kirban in 2007.

Car has a large amount of paperwork documenting its full pedigree, original Window Sticker, Build Sheets, original owner paperwork, etc. Car is Concourse level quality and is a stunning example. This is a unique opportunity to own one of the most beautiful factory original Grand Nationals. Car has 31,000 documented miles with a clean title in hand. Car is located in Ohio. Asking price is $29,900. Please email me for more pictures and inquires for more details - [email protected] Week 1 of 4.

PHOTO 3 – We show 4 photos of this incredible 1986 Grand National. The top left photo shows the Grand National in my Kirban pole building when the second owner bought the car from us back in 2007. The top right photo shows just a portion of the original paperwork that goes with the car, including proof it was one of my cars. The lower photos are recent photos of the 1986 Grand National. This car has had exceptional care by all three owners and is a rare find today. It is also one of the few signed by Molly back in 2007 when it was in my possession. Not many Grand Nationals come up for sale that have this impressive amount of paperwork and complete history behind it. This is a chance to own one of the best. You would be hard pressed to find a better example with this much documentation for a price under $30 grand!

AUTO EASEL CAR SHOW HOOD LATCH DISPLAY STAND FITMENT AND UPDATE –

We expect to be shipping orders by the end of this week. We have most of the parts, we are just waiting on the clamps to come back from the powder coater.

Here is an up-to-date list of cars and trucks we know our new Auto Easel Car Show Hood Latch Display Stands will fit. As we discover more applications, we will list them.

Remember, there is a Special Introductory Price that is in effect until midnight April 30, 2020.

1982-1988 G-Body - All Models
1955-1957 Chevrolet
1979-2004 Ford Mustang and 2010-2014 Ford Mustang
1995-1997 Ford Ranger
1967-1968 Firebird
1982-2002 Chevrolet Camaro / Pontiac Firebird

2011-2020 Dodge Charger
2009-2014 Dodge Challenger

1996-2004 Mazda Miata

Remember, as long as the hood latch extends above the core support by 1½", this Auto Easel Car Show Hood Latch Display Stand will fit. You don’t have to get it centered on the hood latch since you can adjust your display panel so the display panel is centered in front of the car or truck.

PHOTO 4 – These four photos show various close-ups highlighting the point of attachment of the Auto Easel clamp to the hood latch assembly on a 1985 Regal. This method of attachment is quite ingenious, because not only is it simple, but it allows the information to be front and center without being in the way of people walking by your show car. It is secured by one single allen bolt.

THE AUTO EASEL - CAR SHOW DISPLAY HOOD LATCH STAND - ORDERING INFORMATION -

This Introductory Price for both designs ends at midnight April 30, 2020.

STORIES THAT CAUGHT MY INTEREST THIS PAST WEEK –

We may make this a weekly section. First, as many of you know I go to two bid lots every week for a small local country used car dealership. I do the overall evaluation on the specific cars and trucks. I then do the quick test drive and voice my opinion. I drove a Honda Pilot the other week that holds a new record for me. The odometer read 451,000 miles. It drove amazingly tight and quiet. The exterior looked all original and the interior, outside of a worn driver door armrest showed no real indication the Honda Pilot had gone 450,000 plus miles. Even the front end of the Pilot was nice, not peppered from stone chips. It sold wholesale for over $3,000 Until that car I had never driven anything with over 270,000 miles on it.

In our newspaper, there was a story about a guy broke in and robbed 21 different businesses in same general neighborhood in less than one month. That tells you a few things. He had a lucrative business at night and he must have covered his tracks very well to avoid getting caught on 20 occasions. It was that 21st occasion that was his downfall.

In my area, they are finally going to crack down on turnpike toll violators. Seems the state of Pennsylvania is out over 20 million dollars from people that skip paying tolls on a routine basis. They actually have a new record of 4 drivers that have racked up over $315,000 in tolls and fees. You would think the company involved with collecting tolls would have acted way before they allowed 4 drivers to accumulate that much in tolls and fees. Can’t be too hard to find them since they have their license plate number. There is little reason to believe those 4 drivers will ever cough up the total fines and fees. Justice should have been dealt long before it got to that point! Seems a miscarriage of justice if the police can nab you for driving 10 miles over the speed limit one time, yet you can accumulate fines running into the 6 digits by frequently not paying the road tolls.

LATE BREAKING NEWS - THE RETURN OF THE REPRODUCTION ALUMINUM BRAKE DRUMS -

We been told that Cardone has them again in stock. If you are interested, email [email protected] for availability and costs. This would be for the 10-bolt, part #7716, or the 12-bolt, part #7717, versions. Specify which when you send her an email.

Here is the link to the 10-bolt reproduction aluminum brake drums on our website.

Here is the link to the 12-bolt reproduction aluminum brake drums on our website.

BREAKING NEWS – BRAKE ACCUMULATOR BOWLS ARE BACK IN STOCK –

We just received limited stock on the Brake Accumulator Bowls, part #6697.

Here is the link to the brake accumulator bowl on our website.

1993 CAMARO PACE CAR FOR SALE –

I recently discovered a real nice original 1993 Camaro Pace Car for sale local to me. Car has 22,000 miles on it. The price tag seems reasonable at $14,900. As of this writing I have not been able to get hold of the owner for more information. I do know one of the mechanics at the repair shop where it is sitting for sale. If this perks your interest, email me [email protected] Perhaps I will know more about this Pace Car later this week. It is quite nice. I did hear it run. Interior is mint as is the body. A few hours spent detailing would make it show worthy. The Pace car seems fairly priced to me.

1985 REGAL LIMITED CHEVY V8 POWERED - STILL AVAILABLE - FOR SALE –

One of our relatives local to us is having us sell their custom-built 1985 Regal Limited that has been in the family since new. This 1985 Regal Limited has always been garaged, never hit, or smoked in. Our son Darrell repainted this car the factory color back in 2003 for $2,000. At 128,000 miles, the engine was converted with a brand GM 350/330 HP crate motor at a cost of $5,200. This was backed up with a rebuilt turbo 400 transmission. A local shop that we deal with redid the rear putting in a new eaton posi with, I believe, to be 3.08 gears. Gear ratio is perfect for high speed cruising.

Being a Limited, it is very well optioned and even the power antenna works. It has Bilstein shocks. Tires are fairly new. The tire size is 205/75 by 14s. Riding on the original 14 by 6 steel wheels with full Regal wheel covers.

With just a few Turbo Regal upgrades this would be an extremely nice solid handling Regal. I you install set of 16 by 8s on all four corners, a Turbo-T steering box, a rear sway bar, and a leather wheel, it will not only ride better, but look better too. The doors shut like they are brand new. The driver’s power pillow seat is the only interior part that shows very minor wear along the edge and around the power switch. A set of tasteful 3 gauges hang of the bottom edge of the dash under the radio. The power seat motor runs but does not function. Headliner will need to be replaced. The steering column has movement in the one section of the tilt.

The current mileage is 135,000, so that is less than 10,000 miles on a brand new GM crate motor. Electric fan with a V8 radiator handles the cooling. The AC has been completely rebuilt. Car has long-branch headers that dump into a new GNX exhaust system. Bigger front sway bar was installed. MSD ignition and an Edelbrock 4-barrell carburetor are fed with a cold air system. The adult owner has never once driven it hard to chirp the tires. Car still has its original half-padded roof. Body and paint are real nice with zero rust. All the stainless and emblems are in good condition. Nothing is missing. Bumpers also are close to new. All the critical labels are still intact, including the SPID label on the inside trunk lid. This car is a bargain and has had excellent care since new.

NEW LOWER PRICE $5,995 - OBO

The owner needs to sell the car. The body is exceptional with near perfect chrome, and all the stainless is nice. The car is at our house. For more photos, email me direct - [email protected]

WELL-OPTIONED LOW-MILEAGE 1987 GRAND NATIONAL - FOR SALE –

This Grand National is still available. This extremely well-optioned, low-mileage 1987 Grand National that is for sale. The owner wants me to sell it for him. He has had it 6 years. The miles on this Grand National is a mere 48,200. Options include factory moon roof, power windows, power locks, tilt, cruise, delay wipers, concert sound, power trunk, digital dash, power seat, working power antenna, and posi rear. The Grand National is located in Maryland.

It has a beautiful repaint done prior to his owning it. He had paint correction done and ceramic coating this past Spring. The car really shines, probably 100%, better than original. Everything functions 100%, even the original AC.

Additional features include embroidered floor mats, few chrome goodies under the hood, Kirban adjustable fuel regulator, hot wire kit, 60lb injectors, adjustable wastegate, TT chip, new bumper fillers, new fuel tank, and has dual a-pillar gauges and console gauge package. He checked the car with a magnet and shows no putty or filler anywhere. It has the factory chip guard along bottom of the car.

According to the owner Mike, the Grand National has had 4 previous owners. The car shows no accidents or any indication that mileage is not accurate.

The price is $26,900. This Grand National is priced to sell. You would be hard pressed to find a better example of a well-optioned 1987 Grand National that would measure up to the quality of this one at this price. A factory moon roof with a power seat option is extremely rare. This car this Spring would easily bring several grand more than it is priced at this fall.

This car is show quality from any angle. For more information and photos, email me direct [email protected]

Pass the word along to your friends who may be looking for a great-looking well-optioned Grand National.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

IN CLOSING –

Finding used Turbo Regal parts is really getting tough. The G-body cars are virtually extinct in the junkyards I go to. Even early 1990s GM cars are virtually extinct.
