THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ISSUES -
Last week I finally got around to installing one of our new third brake light LED panels in our personal 1987 Turbo-T. Our car has been garaged for most of its life, so I was not expecting any problems. The actual housing, which is tan, hardly shows any fading from the sun.
Once I disassembled it, I was surprised to discover that the entire plastic socket portion was severely cracked!
PHOTO 1 - The photo to the left shows the third brake light housing from our personal Turbo-T. Notice the severe crack down the entire length of the socket housing. The photo to the right shows what can happen when the bulb seizes in the socket. The bottom photo shows what can happen if the bulb gets too hot. It distorts the socket and, of course, becomes impossible to remove. It’s because of these possible issues we now offer a good used third brake socket with a new correct bulb installed. We also now sell a good used deflector with lens as well, part #7668.

So, in quick review, if you plan to purchase our #7660 third brake light LED panel and discover you have a broken or distorted third brake light housing, we now have good used ones available. You can purchase both, part #7669, and save $3.95.
UNDER-THE-DASH LED LIGHTS -
As we reported a few weeks ago, we now have under-the-dash LED lights available, part #7663 and #7664.
This kit compliments the Aftermarket LED interior Light Panel we sell, part #7661 and #7662. We have over 100 of the #7661 and #7662 currently in stock!
This new under-the-dash kit allows you to complete the interior lighting with the LED format.
Buick used one-style bulb for the driver’s under-the-dash socket and a different one for under the passenger’s side. The driver’s side socket snaps into place. The passenger’s side socket housing is secured by 1 very small screw.
With the limited research I have been able to do, I have no idea how consistent Buick was in what socket arrangements they did for the 1984-1987 years. Since I was going to be marketing these LEDs for other G-body models, I discovered it would work up thru the 1988 models. Since the kit includes 3 LED bulbs, the extra one will work either for the license plate light, or the trunk, or the under-the-hood light, depending on the format of the under-the-dash socket.
You can also buy an extra LED light, part #7664, that will fit the trunk or the under-the-dash light socket.
Fortunately, these bulbs can be easily replaced with the LED bulbs without any problems.
What I have found in various G-body cars is that the driver’s side under-the-dash light socket was produced in at least 3 different colors. The socket was a slot-type of socket rather than the regular round format.
PHOTO 3 - The photo to the left shows all 3 colors of the driver’s side under-the-dash light sockets. In 1 of them you can see the original glass bulb and in 1 of the others is the new LED bulb. We include 2 of that bulb in our kit, so you can also use 1 for the license plate light. The photo to the right shows the typical under-the-dash light socket for the passenger’s side. We show 1 with the stock round glass bulb and 1 with the LED light installed. The LED light for this socket may not look exactly like this 1, as bulbs may vary from my supplier. The fit is not affected. It is this style of LED that you may want to purchase in addition, since it’s the same LED format that will fit in the trunk light socket as well as the under-the-hood light socket.
LITTLE PARTS THAT SOMETIMES GET LOST -
In the last few issues we have been featuring various small items that sometimes get lost. Some other small parts may be missing from your Turbo Regal. Still other parts would make nice upgrades to add to your Turbo Regal. In many cases, these parts are not easy to find at your local auto store.
Many of the later GM cars have a plastic red cap that snaps over the positive battery cable terminal. This plastic cap protects the positive terminal from coming in contact with any metal objects. I am sure several versions of this cap exist for the side mount battery terminals. I am not sure what year Buick started to include the red plastic cap on the positive battery terminal. It was not on the Turbo Regals originally.
PHOTO 4 - The photo to the left shows both the short and taller positive red battery terminal cap. The taller cap would be used if you have a taller battery stud. The photo to the right shows the only correct 1982-1987 Regal radiator cap alongside two of the small C-clips. What makes the radiator cap unique is the fact it says, “Made in England” on it. It’s also one of the few factory radiator caps, which does not have ears. The C-clip is used to secure the cruise control cable to the diaphragm. The C-clip is also used to secure the throttle cable to the throttle body. It’s one of those small clips that 90% of the time if you need to remove it it’s the last time you will ever see it! DO YOU OWN A MOTORCYCLE? -
We have been working on a product specifically for the motorcycle market.
To my knowledge, nobody has made this product yet. I even checked with several friends and relatives that have bikes, and they want to be our first customers. We have been working on this project for most of the winter.
Production parts are currently in route. We expect to have a special introductory price to our customer base. We already have one major company that will be packaging it and selling it to distributors and retailers. Having this product will eliminate one of the possible problems that you can face as a motorcycle owner.

SPOOLFOOL REAR SPOILER CONTEST -
Mike Bernard, owner of Spoolfool products, has recently produced the Grand National rear spoiler.
He has also produced a similar one that is a one-piece design. The one-piece design simply overhangs the top edge of both rear quarter panels and is attached to the trunk lid.
Both spoilers are made in the same high-quality format as his popular Spoolfool fillers. In most cases, the finish on them needs no work.
We have one of each for display at our upcoming Spring Open House. We also expect to have some of each available for sale at our Spring Open House.
In the meantime, Mike is running a contest, which will award the winner their choice of one of the new rear spoilers that he has produced.
The contest begins, oddly enough, on April 1, 2015 - April Fools Day!

BREAKING NEWS -
Mike Bernard owner of Spoolfool may fly out from sunny California for our Spring Open House! This would be his first trip to one of our events. We hope to be able to confirm this shortly.
BODY BUSHING KITS, PART #7305, UPDATE -
We are still waiting on our body bushing kits to come in. WEST COAST DOCK STRIKE -
We recently learned that this dock strike also has affected getting our order for the black outside doorsill weatherstrips, part #7217. They are due to arrive later this week.
HEADLIGHT KIT UPDATE -
We finally got our shipment of Upgraded H4 Headlights, part #7530, last week and have filled all our back orders. We also have ordered more headlight kits to have on hand for our Spring Open House. These kits make a huge improvement over the original format.

We now have an urgent need for powermaster cores, steering wheel cores, and turbo cores.

POWERMASTER CORES must be complete with brake bowl and brake switch. You get $100 Letter of Credit or we will trade our complete headlight kit #7530 a $129.95 value or $75 cash for each acceptable core. Powermaster units must be nice and not look like they been in a river for the last 10 years.
STEERING WHEEL CORES must be the 1986-1987 style. They can’t have any bent spokes and spokes, and can’t be rusty. We will issue you a $75 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock ones. They must be complete. We will issue you a $100 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.

It appears this AC Delco heater water valve will be discontinued from GM and AC Delco. It doesn’t appear that we will be getting any more of theses.

We will have a supply of these at our Spring Open House. It is one of the most powerful ones on the market, putting out 250 cranking amps and 500 peak amps for less than $100. It is this larger module that has very few limitations on what it can do.

REPRODUCTION DASH CONNECTOR SEALING GASKET
Over time, water can enter the interior due to a deteriorating dash connector sealing gasket. This can potentially create rust and water damage to the driver’s side floor and surrounding materials.
This new reproduction sealing gasket fixes the problem. It restores a weather-tight seal to the harness feed-thru location.
This is a critical gasket, since it’s for the dash bulkhead.
GM has discontinued the actual connectors.
If you are restoring the interior, this is the time to check to see if you need this part.
The gasket comes with very detailed directions.

1984-1988 GM G-Body - All Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
AFTERMARKET LED UNDER-THE-DASH INTERIOR LIGHT BULBS (3) SET
& LED TRUNK or UNDER-THE-HOOD LIGHT BULB
This aftermarket LED under-the-dash interior light kit will replace both of the under-the-dash factory lights to the upgraded LED format.
GM used two different styles of sockets under the dash. It used a slotted socket on the driver’s side and a regular round socket on the passenger’s side.
This kit includes 1 round LED bulb for the passenger’s side and 2 of the slotted LED lights for the driver’s side. This will give you 1 extra slotted LED light. You can use this to replace the stock bulb for the license plate light in most cars. Because of its flat face, the LED will fit in the housing for the license plate light.
You can also purchase an extra passenger’s side LED light, if you want to upgrade the trunk light since it takes the same LED bulb. The same LED bulb will also work for the under-the-hood light.
LED lights greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass bulbs, draws far less amperage, and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass bulbs.
Our top left photo shows the original bulbs in the housings, and these replacement LED bulbs.
Our top right photo shows a single LED bulb, which can be purchased separately as a trunk or under-the-hood light bulb, Part #7664.

In many cases, you may find that the third brake light socket may be burnt or cracked from heat or age. Also the deflector may become warped over a period of time due to summer heat over the years.
We now have good used third brake light housings available, complete with a brand new 1156 bulb installed. The socket and housing are in very good condition.
We also have good used deflectors with the red lens.

1984-1988 GM G-Body - All Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
AFTERMARKET LED INTERIOR LIGHT PANEL
This aftermarket LED interior light panel is made up of 9 LEDs and can replace the fuse-style glass tube bulb found in the interior lights in all the 1984-1988 GM G-Body cars, hardtop and T-Tops models.
This panel consists of 9 LEDs on a panel. It will fit virtually every version of the GM G-Body interior light housings. The ends are specific to properly contact the factory contacts in the light housing.
We show the four versions of the G-Body interior lights that this LED panel will fit - the 2 pillar lights for cars with T-Tops, Oldsmobile Cutlass interior light, the standard dome light, and the optional map reading light. We also just discovered it fits all the third generation Camaros and Firebirds 1982-1992. It fits both the standard light and the optional map reading light format.
The LED panel is easy to install.
The benefits of this LED light panel are that it’s a brighter light and has wider spread of light over the glass tube format.
The LED panel draws far less amperage and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass tube bulb.
These LED lights will greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass tube light on cars with T-Tops. Our first photo shows an original glass bulb on the left and this LED replacement on the right.
Our second photo shows the 4 versions on interior lights, which can use this LED panel as a direct replacement.
Our third photo shows a comparison of lights. The top left photo shows the original fuse-style bulb in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the top right. The lower left photo shows the LED light in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the lower right.
If your car only needs one, you might consider purchased part #7662 with 2 panels. Then you would have a spare and save $1.95.
If you need to replace the interior lights in car with T-Tops, you will need to order TWO, part #7662 for $19.95 (save $1.95.)

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ISSUES -
Last week I finally got around to installing one of our new third brake light LED panels in our personal 1987 Turbo-T. Our car has been garaged for most of its life, so I was not expecting any problems. The actual housing, which is tan, hardly shows any fading from the sun.
Once I disassembled it, I was surprised to discover that the entire plastic socket portion was severely cracked!
PHOTO 1 - The photo to the left shows the third brake light housing from our personal Turbo-T. Notice the severe crack down the entire length of the socket housing. The photo to the right shows what can happen when the bulb seizes in the socket. The bottom photo shows what can happen if the bulb gets too hot. It distorts the socket and, of course, becomes impossible to remove. It’s because of these possible issues we now offer a good used third brake socket with a new correct bulb installed. We also now sell a good used deflector with lens as well, part #7668.

So, in quick review, if you plan to purchase our #7660 third brake light LED panel and discover you have a broken or distorted third brake light housing, we now have good used ones available. You can purchase both, part #7669, and save $3.95.
UNDER-THE-DASH LED LIGHTS -
As we reported a few weeks ago, we now have under-the-dash LED lights available, part #7663 and #7664.
This kit compliments the Aftermarket LED interior Light Panel we sell, part #7661 and #7662. We have over 100 of the #7661 and #7662 currently in stock!
This new under-the-dash kit allows you to complete the interior lighting with the LED format.
Buick used one-style bulb for the driver’s under-the-dash socket and a different one for under the passenger’s side. The driver’s side socket snaps into place. The passenger’s side socket housing is secured by 1 very small screw.
With the limited research I have been able to do, I have no idea how consistent Buick was in what socket arrangements they did for the 1984-1987 years. Since I was going to be marketing these LEDs for other G-body models, I discovered it would work up thru the 1988 models. Since the kit includes 3 LED bulbs, the extra one will work either for the license plate light, or the trunk, or the under-the-hood light, depending on the format of the under-the-dash socket.
You can also buy an extra LED light, part #7664, that will fit the trunk or the under-the-dash light socket.
Fortunately, these bulbs can be easily replaced with the LED bulbs without any problems.
What I have found in various G-body cars is that the driver’s side under-the-dash light socket was produced in at least 3 different colors. The socket was a slot-type of socket rather than the regular round format.
PHOTO 3 - The photo to the left shows all 3 colors of the driver’s side under-the-dash light sockets. In 1 of them you can see the original glass bulb and in 1 of the others is the new LED bulb. We include 2 of that bulb in our kit, so you can also use 1 for the license plate light. The photo to the right shows the typical under-the-dash light socket for the passenger’s side. We show 1 with the stock round glass bulb and 1 with the LED light installed. The LED light for this socket may not look exactly like this 1, as bulbs may vary from my supplier. The fit is not affected. It is this style of LED that you may want to purchase in addition, since it’s the same LED format that will fit in the trunk light socket as well as the under-the-hood light socket.
LITTLE PARTS THAT SOMETIMES GET LOST -
In the last few issues we have been featuring various small items that sometimes get lost. Some other small parts may be missing from your Turbo Regal. Still other parts would make nice upgrades to add to your Turbo Regal. In many cases, these parts are not easy to find at your local auto store.
Many of the later GM cars have a plastic red cap that snaps over the positive battery cable terminal. This plastic cap protects the positive terminal from coming in contact with any metal objects. I am sure several versions of this cap exist for the side mount battery terminals. I am not sure what year Buick started to include the red plastic cap on the positive battery terminal. It was not on the Turbo Regals originally.
PHOTO 4 - The photo to the left shows both the short and taller positive red battery terminal cap. The taller cap would be used if you have a taller battery stud. The photo to the right shows the only correct 1982-1987 Regal radiator cap alongside two of the small C-clips. What makes the radiator cap unique is the fact it says, “Made in England” on it. It’s also one of the few factory radiator caps, which does not have ears. The C-clip is used to secure the cruise control cable to the diaphragm. The C-clip is also used to secure the throttle cable to the throttle body. It’s one of those small clips that 90% of the time if you need to remove it it’s the last time you will ever see it! (See Rare Parts section for availability of these items).

To my knowledge, nobody has made this product yet. I even checked with several friends and relatives that have bikes, and they want to be our first customers. We have been working on this project for most of the winter.
Production parts are currently in route. We expect to have a special introductory price to our customer base. We already have one major company that will be packaging it and selling it to distributors and retailers. Having this product will eliminate one of the possible problems that you can face as a motorcycle owner.

SPOOLFOOL REAR SPOILER CONTEST -
Mike Bernard, owner of Spoolfool products, has recently produced the Grand National rear spoiler.
He has also produced a similar one that is a one-piece design. The one-piece design simply overhangs the top edge of both rear quarter panels and is attached to the trunk lid.
Both spoilers are made in the same high-quality format as his popular Spoolfool fillers. In most cases, the finish on them needs no work.
We have one of each for display at our upcoming Spring Open House. We also expect to have some of each available for sale at our Spring Open House.
In the meantime, Mike is running a contest, which will award the winner their choice of one of the new rear spoilers that he has produced.

STEERING WHEEL CORES must be the 1986-1987 style. They can’t have any bent spokes and spokes, and can’t be rusty. We will issue you a $75 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock ones. They must be complete. We will issue you a $100 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core.

REPRODUCTION DASH CONNECTOR SEALING GASKET
Over time, water can enter the interior due to a deteriorating dash connector sealing gasket. This can potentially create rust and water damage to the driver’s side floor and surrounding materials.
This new reproduction sealing gasket fixes the problem. It restores a weather-tight seal to the harness feed-thru location.
This is a critical gasket, since it’s for the dash bulkhead.
GM has discontinued the actual connectors.
If you are restoring the interior, this is the time to check to see if you need this part.
The gasket comes with very detailed directions.

AFTERMARKET LED UNDER-THE-DASH INTERIOR LIGHT BULBS (3) SET

This aftermarket LED under-the-dash interior light kit will replace both of the under-the-dash factory lights to the upgraded LED format.
GM used two different styles of sockets under the dash. It used a slotted socket on the driver’s side and a regular round socket on the passenger’s side.
This kit includes 1 round LED bulb for the passenger’s side and 2 of the slotted LED lights for the driver’s side. This will give you 1 extra slotted LED light. You can use this to replace the stock bulb for the license plate light in most cars. Because of its flat face, the LED will fit in the housing for the license plate light.
You can also purchase an extra passenger’s side LED light, if you want to upgrade the trunk light since it takes the same LED bulb. The same LED bulb will also work for the under-the-hood light.
LED lights greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass bulbs, draws far less amperage, and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass bulbs.
Our top left photo shows the original bulbs in the housings, and these replacement LED bulbs.
Our top right photo shows a single LED bulb, which can be purchased separately as a trunk or under-the-hood light bulb, Part #7664.

In many cases, you may find that the third brake light socket may be burnt or cracked from heat or age. Also the deflector may become warped over a period of time due to summer heat over the years.

1984-1988 GM G-Body - All Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
AFTERMARKET LED INTERIOR LIGHT PANEL
This aftermarket LED interior light panel is made up of 9 LEDs and can replace the fuse-style glass tube bulb found in the interior lights in all the 1984-1988 GM G-Body cars, hardtop and T-Tops models.
This panel consists of 9 LEDs on a panel. It will fit virtually every version of the GM G-Body interior light housings. The ends are specific to properly contact the factory contacts in the light housing.
We show the four versions of the G-Body interior lights that this LED panel will fit - the 2 pillar lights for cars with T-Tops, Oldsmobile Cutlass interior light, the standard dome light, and the optional map reading light. We also just discovered it fits all the third generation Camaros and Firebirds 1982-1992. It fits both the standard light and the optional map reading light format.
The LED panel is easy to install.
The benefits of this LED light panel are that it’s a brighter light and has wider spread of light over the glass tube format.
The LED panel draws far less amperage and does not generate the extreme heat like the original glass tube bulb.
These LED lights will greatly increase the amount of light over the stock glass tube light on cars with T-Tops. Our first photo shows an original glass bulb on the left and this LED replacement on the right.
Our second photo shows the 4 versions on interior lights, which can use this LED panel as a direct replacement.
Our third photo shows a comparison of lights. The top left photo shows the original fuse-style bulb in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the top right. The lower left photo shows the LED light in the ceiling light without the cover and lit with the cover on the lower right.
If your car only needs one, you might consider purchased part #7662 with 2 panels. Then you would have a spare and save $1.95.
If you need to replace the interior lights in car with T-Tops, you will need to order TWO, part #7662 for $19.95 (save $1.95.)
