MORE PHOTOS FROM THE NORTH CAROLINA TURBO BUICK NATIONALS -
One of the coolest upgrades some Turbo Regal owners do is to get their interiors redone in leather. Because Grand National original pallex material is difficult to find, and the fact no reproductions of the pallex material looks exactly correct, this is an option to consider.
PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows the custom leather interior in a Grand National. Even the upper door panels are done in leather making for a very nice transition. The top right photo shows a burgundy leather interior in a Turbo-T. It would have been nice if Buick offered leather as an option in 1986 and 1987. They discontinued the Lear Siegler seats, which did have leather inserts on the seats, so they were not available in 1986 and 1987.
The bottom left shows a mid-1980s Camaro I spotted at Richard Clark’s garage, fitted with a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal drivetrain. The bottom right shows a very unusual gauge cluster in a 1987 Turbo-T at the racetrack belonging to Gary from Georgia. This dash is out of a later model Buick Park Avenue. According to Gary, it was a lot of work to modify the dash and make it function. All proof that many owners go to great lengths to make their Turbo Regal different, yet retain the basic stock look.
It reminds me of when I installed a passenger’s side power seat in one of my test cars using the parts from a Cadillac Cimarron. Personally, I don’t believe an interior redone in leather hurts the value.
REDONE 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL STEERING WHEELS -
It is important that we get the correct steering wheel cores in order to keep offering this service to our customers.
What can be confusing is that the T package option was offered on 5 different Buick models starting in 1983. Part of that package included a leather-wrapped steering wheel. However, only the leather-wrapped wheels found on the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals are correct for getting them redone. The steering wheels Buick used prior to 1986 and 1987 on the various other Buick models simply will NOT work. In Photo 2 below we show why they will not work for us as cores.
PHOTO 2 - The photo to the left shows a typical 1983-1985 Buick leather steering wheel with the outer leather skin removed. Note how far the base material extends up each spoke. The photo to the right shows the same steering wheel with the base material cut back to where it should be to match the 1986-1987 leather steering wheel design. You can clearly see Buick had a hole drilled in the middle of each spoke to help secure the material on the spoke. It would require extensive work to fill those holes in to have it look correct. Now you see why we need original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheels.
GMP/EPITOME MOLLY DIECAST TURBO REGAL -
This is the second diecast of the set of three that GMP did honoring Molly. This version was limited to just 750 produced, making it extremely rare to find today. The model we show is number 683, which is on the silver rear license plate. The ultra rare models are numbers 1 thru 300 as they have a gold color rear license plate and come with a certificate signed by Molly. I have number 146 in that series, in my private collection. In the 1:18 scale GMP Turbo Regal series I have a total of 17 different models. I am not sure if that is a complete collection of the Turbo Regals or not.

AC DELCO IS A GLOBAL COMPANY -
I know many customers always want to buy parts for their cars that are GM or AC Delco. We try to buy AC Delco parts whenever possible.
The 1986-1987 Turbo Regal coil pack is one item that we buy that is an AC Delco brand. One reason we buy the AC Delco brand is because on some of the other brands, the exterior appearance is not correct. Some have a smooth one-piece top rather than three individual looking top surface, which the original coil pack had.
I can recall, not that long ago that the packaging of these AC Delco coil packs said “Made in Mexico.” Now it appears production of the 1986-1987 coil packs has been moved to China!

The bottom left photo shows what happens when you do not have a brass proportioning valve in the brake system on the car. You can see rust particles in the reservoir, which led to powermaster issues. The bottom right photo shows a typical steel used brake proportioning valve alongside the brass proportioning valve we sell. Every Turbo Regal needs to have the brass proportioning valve on their brake system. This is even true if you switch to a hydroboost or a vacuum boost brake format. Remember, clean clear brake fluid is critical to having a good functioning brake system!

Another nice finishing interior touch are the reproduction inside door sills. The version we carry is made from slightly thicker material, so it is less likely to get dented.

TURBO REGAL VALVE COVER DESK TOP LAMP PRICING -
I now have all my costs figured out to make these cool looking valve cover desk top lamps. A good portion of the cost is because I have to buy original Turbo Regal valve covers and then get them powder coated.
Since the lamp uses a LED light strip, it will be powered by a battery instead of being a plug-in lamp. Since there is no wire or plug on the lamp, it stands alone and looks cleaner. LEDs draw such little current that a battery will last a long time and the LED light strip will be just as bright. The pull chain to turn the light on will have a brand new correct spark plug on the end.

1987 GRAND NATIONAL FOR SALE 49 ACTUAL MILES -
This rare 1987 Grand National has never been dealer prepped and has only travelled a mere 49 miles! It is a T-Top model. It has had three owners and is part of an estate sale. It’s been garaged and covered and was started at least once a week until 2011. All the documents and chain of ownership go with the car. The Grand National would need a good cleaning and fluids flushed before it could be put on the road.

BREAKING NEWS - 1987 Turbo-T -
We are negotiating a deal to acquire a one-owner totally stock 1987 Turbo-T hardtop. The Turbo-T is a hardtop with the black-out option. The owner has repair records and even has the original Window Sticker.
Watch for possible information next week, if this deal works out.
MY LAST CAR TRAILER IS STILL FOR SALE -
The trailer surface is 15 feet long and has a 5-foot beaver tail drop. Paul will also include a set of 4 tie-down straps with it. The comparable cost today for this same trailer is around $2,395 to $2,595 from Econo trailer located in western, Pennsylvania. They are selling them at Carlisle every year. The car trailer new would not come with Goodyear trailer radial tires, like how this is equipped. At this writing, it is still available.
Last year I sold my open car trailer to Paul Castle. Because of his schedules, he has not yet picked it up. He is planning to come next month for it when he attends the Chevrolet Carlisle event. However, if someone is interested, it is for sale for $1,195. It is at our home location Kintnersville, Pennsylvania.
This was the second Dively open trailer I bought new and I used it to trailer the Turbo Regals that we would buy. I sold the first Dively open trailer I used to Richard Clark.
This Dively trailer was built in 2007 and is the perfect size for any G-body car. The fenders are low enough so you can open the doors with the car on the trailer. It rides on newer Goodyear radials specific for a trailer. The wheels and tires have been balanced. The tires show no dry rot. The gross trailer weight is 7,000 lbs with the empty trailer weighing a mere 1,450 lbs. It has four wheel brakes and 4 key holes for locking the chains. This makes it very light weight to maneuver. I would venture a guess that over 100 different Turbo Regals rode on this trailer over the years.
U.S. POSTAL EMPLOYEE CAUGHT NOT DELIVERING THE MAIL -
A U.S. postal employee was busted the other week for stashing almost 3,000 piece of mail over a period of almost two years in his house. While that in its self is surprising, the article goes on to say he is still employed with the postal system but is not allowed to handle the mail anymore!
In the private sector, termination would have been swift had the same crime been committed!

This year’s Chrysler event has a special all new Hurst Nationals July 14th and 15th in conjunction with the Chrysler Nationals. I have been asked to conduct a seminar on Hurst both days, July 14th and 15th. The location of my seminars as well as the other seminars is held just off the grounds from Gate 3 at the Expo Center. They have not yet told me my speaking times.
My granddaughter, Devyn hopes to go with me to help. With Chrysler introducing the Demon this April, my guess is they will have several Demons on display at Carlisle. Hope to see some of my customers at this event. I am as well versed with early Hurst history as I am with Turbo Regals.
As with all my seminars, I will be doing a M&Ms contest in honor of my parents. The Don Garlits autographed connecting rod will make a nice prize!

CUSTOM RADIATOR TOP PLATE & HARDWARE
In many cases, the original metal radiator top plate that holds the top of the radiator and secures the housing for the electric fan may be rusted or bent.
This radiator top plate is unique to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals, making it difficult to find a nice used one today.
This radiator top plate is made by Spoolfool but does not look like the stock original steel radiator top plate. It is fiberglass and not metal. It attaches the same way, however the top surface is smooth. This gives it a more custom look.
Each one is done in black gelcoat polished to a high gloss shine. It weighs only 1 pound versus 3 pounds for the metal plate. It saves a small amount of weight, but more importantly, it will never rust!
It comes with 5 powder-coated black bolts, which are the correct size for this plate, and easy-to-follow directions.
NOTE - Our first picture show this new CUSTOM Radiator Top Plate and Hardware, #7776. Our second photo shows the stock Reproduction Radiator Top Plate & Hardware, #7774. The second photo also shows the placement of this plate in the lower photos.

This high-quality reproduction steel dip stick tube has the correct black EDP coating on it.
This reproduction is the correct replacement for GM part #25525746, which has not been available from GM for several years.
If you ever have to rebuild the engine, you will need this dip stick tube. The bracket on the original dip stick tube usually gets twisted when you try and unbolt it from the engine.

Over the years the original plates in your G-body car may have been dented, scratched, or corroded.
These high-quality reproduction door sill plates replaces GM part #20008170.
They are complete with the small “Body by Fisher” logo plate in the center. The quality and fit are extremely close to the GM originals. The only difference is a slightly thicker mill of aluminum. Each door sill plate comes with 4 screws.

AC DELCO HEATER WATER VALVE
This is a brand new, correct AC Delco heater water valve for 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regals.
When new, the valve has a gold anodized look. Over time, the unit corrodes and could leak anti-freeze. Aftermarket valves do not look original since they are made in plastic.
It’s a good idea to replace this valve to avoid any leakage problems.
Another excellent replacement for the engine compartment.

1978-1988 G-Body (Including 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal Models) -
Reproduction 4″ x 10″ REAR SPEAKERS (2) SET
It has been hard to locate a suitable 4″ x 10″ speaker for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regal rear package shelf. The space is too narrow to use anything but a 4″ x 10″ speaker. It must also fit the factory cage bracket.
We found this suitable reproduction 8 ohm speaker. You do have to replace the connector ends, since the factory plug on the harness will not fit the terminals on this new speaker.
These fit the factory metal cage that GM used to secure the original rear speakers.
Over the years, age and sunlight have probably cracked the original speakers. These are a perfect replacement.
A nice upgrade for any interior restoration.

EXTERIOR SOLAR LED MOTION LIGHT PANEL -
This exterior solar LED motion light panel is a neat compact product that fills a need for any home owner, shop owner, or apartment owner. It’s a simple and inexpensive method to light up a walkway at your house, or garage door way.
Since it’s powered by the sun, it means zero electric costs!
Panel is compact, just 4" x 6" x 1/2". The housing is white. It has 36 LED lights that equals the output of a 100 watt incandescent bulb! It does this with zero costs to your electric bill.

When converting your car to a modern Mass Air Flow sensor, such as an LT1 or LS1 style sensor, a translator is needed. This is a custom-made mounting bracket to hold the Mass Air Flow Sensor Translator.
This bracket provides a simple, yet effective way of mounting the Translator in a convenient location.
This clever bracket was designed and produced by one of our customers. He saw a need to eliminate have the translator wire tied under the hood.
The bracket is made in acrylic and painted black. It mounts using existing holes. NO modifications are made to the car or to the translator. It also leaves enough space below the bracket to access the headlight wiring or if you have the charcoal canister and stock intake or even a 4" Cold Air Intake pipe.
Once installed, the custom-made bracket is barely visible.
The bracket comes with a spacer and easy-to-follow directions.

NOTE - This bracket will not work if you retain the factory air cleaner box.

IN CLOSING -
Watch for more new products coming later this summer, including the new aluminum radiator for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. This is a drop-in replacement radiator that fits with no modification and uses all the original attaching lines and radiator cap. You can get a new radiator and at the same time shed some weight.
MORE PHOTOS FROM THE NORTH CAROLINA TURBO BUICK NATIONALS -
One of the coolest upgrades some Turbo Regal owners do is to get their interiors redone in leather. Because Grand National original pallex material is difficult to find, and the fact no reproductions of the pallex material looks exactly correct, this is an option to consider.
PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows the custom leather interior in a Grand National. Even the upper door panels are done in leather making for a very nice transition. The top right photo shows a burgundy leather interior in a Turbo-T. It would have been nice if Buick offered leather as an option in 1986 and 1987. They discontinued the Lear Siegler seats, which did have leather inserts on the seats, so they were not available in 1986 and 1987.
The bottom left shows a mid-1980s Camaro I spotted at Richard Clark’s garage, fitted with a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal drivetrain. The bottom right shows a very unusual gauge cluster in a 1987 Turbo-T at the racetrack belonging to Gary from Georgia. This dash is out of a later model Buick Park Avenue. According to Gary, it was a lot of work to modify the dash and make it function. All proof that many owners go to great lengths to make their Turbo Regal different, yet retain the basic stock look.
It reminds me of when I installed a passenger’s side power seat in one of my test cars using the parts from a Cadillac Cimarron. Personally, I don’t believe an interior redone in leather hurts the value.
REDONE 1986-1987 TURBO REGAL STEERING WHEELS -
It is important that we get the correct steering wheel cores in order to keep offering this service to our customers.
What can be confusing is that the T package option was offered on 5 different Buick models starting in 1983. Part of that package included a leather-wrapped steering wheel. However, only the leather-wrapped wheels found on the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals are correct for getting them redone. The steering wheels Buick used prior to 1986 and 1987 on the various other Buick models simply will NOT work. In Photo 2 below we show why they will not work for us as cores.
PHOTO 2 - The photo to the left shows a typical 1983-1985 Buick leather steering wheel with the outer leather skin removed. Note how far the base material extends up each spoke. The photo to the right shows the same steering wheel with the base material cut back to where it should be to match the 1986-1987 leather steering wheel design. You can clearly see Buick had a hole drilled in the middle of each spoke to help secure the material on the spoke. It would require extensive work to fill those holes in to have it look correct. Now you see why we need original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheels.
GMP/EPITOME MOLLY DIECAST TURBO REGAL -
This is the second diecast of the set of three that GMP did honoring Molly. This version was limited to just 750 produced, making it extremely rare to find today. The model we show is number 683, which is on the silver rear license plate. The ultra rare models are numbers 1 thru 300 as they have a gold color rear license plate and come with a certificate signed by Molly. I have number 146 in that series, in my private collection. In the 1:18 scale GMP Turbo Regal series I have a total of 17 different models. I am not sure if that is a complete collection of the Turbo Regals or not.

AC DELCO IS A GLOBAL COMPANY -
I know many customers always want to buy parts for their cars that are GM or AC Delco. We try to buy AC Delco parts whenever possible.
The 1986-1987 Turbo Regal coil pack is one item that we buy that is an AC Delco brand. One reason we buy the AC Delco brand is because on some of the other brands, the exterior appearance is not correct. Some have a smooth one-piece top rather than three individual looking top surface, which the original coil pack had.
I can recall, not that long ago that the packaging of these AC Delco coil packs said “Made in Mexico.” Now it appears production of the 1986-1987 coil packs has been moved to China!
PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows the actual AC Delco label on the coil pack box, which says “Made in China.” The top right photo shows the back of the box, which even has the city in China that says where the part and the box is made.
The bottom left photo shows what happens when you do not have a brass proportioning valve in the brake system on the car. You can see rust particles in the reservoir, which led to powermaster issues. The bottom right photo shows a typical steel used brake proportioning valve alongside the brass proportioning valve we sell. Every Turbo Regal needs to have the brass proportioning valve on their brake system. This is even true if you switch to a hydroboost or a vacuum boost brake format. Remember, clean clear brake fluid is critical to having a good functioning brake system!

TURBO REGAL VALVE COVER DESK TOP LAMP PRICING -
I now have all my costs figured out to make these cool looking valve cover desk top lamps. A good portion of the cost is because I have to buy original Turbo Regal valve covers and then get them powder coated.
Since the lamp uses a LED light strip, it will be powered by a battery instead of being a plug-in lamp. Since there is no wire or plug on the lamp, it stands alone and looks cleaner. LEDs draw such little current that a battery will last a long time and the LED light strip will be just as bright. The pull chain to turn the light on will have a brand new correct spark plug on the end.

1987 GRAND NATIONAL FOR SALE 49 ACTUAL MILES -
This rare 1987 Grand National has never been dealer prepped and has only travelled a mere 49 miles! It is a T-Top model. It has had three owners and is part of an estate sale. It’s been garaged and covered and was started at least once a week until 2011. All the documents and chain of ownership go with the car. The Grand National would need a good cleaning and fluids flushed before it could be put on the road.

BREAKING NEWS - 1987 Turbo-T -
We are negotiating a deal to acquire a one-owner totally stock 1987 Turbo-T hardtop. The Turbo-T is a hardtop with the black-out option. The owner has repair records and even has the original Window Sticker.
Watch for possible information next week, if this deal works out.
MY LAST CAR TRAILER IS STILL FOR SALE -
The trailer surface is 15 feet long and has a 5-foot beaver tail drop. Paul will also include a set of 4 tie-down straps with it. The comparable cost today for this same trailer is around $2,395 to $2,595 from Econo trailer located in western, Pennsylvania. They are selling them at Carlisle every year. The car trailer new would not come with Goodyear trailer radial tires, like how this is equipped. At this writing, it is still available.
Last year I sold my open car trailer to Paul Castle. Because of his schedules, he has not yet picked it up. He is planning to come next month for it when he attends the Chevrolet Carlisle event. However, if someone is interested, it is for sale for $1,195. It is at our home location Kintnersville, Pennsylvania.
This was the second Dively open trailer I bought new and I used it to trailer the Turbo Regals that we would buy. I sold the first Dively open trailer I used to Richard Clark.
This Dively trailer was built in 2007 and is the perfect size for any G-body car. The fenders are low enough so you can open the doors with the car on the trailer. It rides on newer Goodyear radials specific for a trailer. The wheels and tires have been balanced. The tires show no dry rot. The gross trailer weight is 7,000 lbs with the empty trailer weighing a mere 1,450 lbs. It has four wheel brakes and 4 key holes for locking the chains. This makes it very light weight to maneuver. I would venture a guess that over 100 different Turbo Regals rode on this trailer over the years.
U.S. POSTAL EMPLOYEE CAUGHT NOT DELIVERING THE MAIL -
A U.S. postal employee was busted the other week for stashing almost 3,000 piece of mail over a period of almost two years in his house. While that in its self is surprising, the article goes on to say he is still employed with the postal system but is not allowed to handle the mail anymore!
In the private sector, termination would have been swift had the same crime been committed!

This year’s Chrysler event has a special all new Hurst Nationals July 14th and 15th in conjunction with the Chrysler Nationals. I have been asked to conduct a seminar on Hurst both days, July 14th and 15th. The location of my seminars as well as the other seminars is held just off the grounds from Gate 3 at the Expo Center. They have not yet told me my speaking times.
My granddaughter, Devyn hopes to go with me to help. With Chrysler introducing the Demon this April, my guess is they will have several Demons on display at Carlisle. Hope to see some of my customers at this event. I am as well versed with early Hurst history as I am with Turbo Regals.
As with all my seminars, I will be doing a M&Ms contest in honor of my parents. The Don Garlits autographed connecting rod will make a nice prize!

CUSTOM RADIATOR TOP PLATE & HARDWARE
In many cases, the original metal radiator top plate that holds the top of the radiator and secures the housing for the electric fan may be rusted or bent.
This radiator top plate is unique to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals, making it difficult to find a nice used one today.
This radiator top plate is made by Spoolfool but does not look like the stock original steel radiator top plate. It is fiberglass and not metal. It attaches the same way, however the top surface is smooth. This gives it a more custom look.
Each one is done in black gelcoat polished to a high gloss shine. It weighs only 1 pound versus 3 pounds for the metal plate. It saves a small amount of weight, but more importantly, it will never rust!
It comes with 5 powder-coated black bolts, which are the correct size for this plate, and easy-to-follow directions.

This high-quality reproduction steel dip stick tube has the correct black EDP coating on it.
This reproduction is the correct replacement for GM part #25525746, which has not been available from GM for several years.

Over the years the original plates in your G-body car may have been dented, scratched, or corroded.
These high-quality reproduction door sill plates replaces GM part #20008170.
They are complete with the small “Body by Fisher” logo plate in the center. The quality and fit are extremely close to the GM originals. The only difference is a slightly thicker mill of aluminum. Each door sill plate comes with 4 screws.

AC DELCO HEATER WATER VALVE
This is a brand new, correct AC Delco heater water valve for 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regals.
When new, the valve has a gold anodized look. Over time, the unit corrodes and could leak anti-freeze. Aftermarket valves do not look original since they are made in plastic.
It’s a good idea to replace this valve to avoid any leakage problems.
Another excellent replacement for the engine compartment.

It has been hard to locate a suitable 4″ x 10″ speaker for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regal rear package shelf. The space is too narrow to use anything but a 4″ x 10″ speaker. It must also fit the factory cage bracket.
We found this suitable reproduction 8 ohm speaker. You do have to replace the connector ends, since the factory plug on the harness will not fit the terminals on this new speaker.
These fit the factory metal cage that GM used to secure the original rear speakers.
Over the years, age and sunlight have probably cracked the original speakers. These are a perfect replacement.
A nice upgrade for any interior restoration.

EXTERIOR SOLAR LED MOTION LIGHT PANEL -
This exterior solar LED motion light panel is a neat compact product that fills a need for any home owner, shop owner, or apartment owner. It’s a simple and inexpensive method to light up a walkway at your house, or garage door way.

Panel is compact, just 4" x 6" x 1/2". The housing is white. It has 36 LED lights that equals the output of a 100 watt incandescent bulb! It does this with zero costs to your electric bill.
It has 3 different modes that you can set. MODE 1 - It can come on at dusk on low power and stay on until dawn. MODE 2 - It can be set to come on at dusk on low power, go to full power by motion, then revert back to lower power. TRANSLATOR CUSTOM-MADE BLACK MOUNTING BRACKET
When converting your car to a modern Mass Air Flow sensor, such as an LT1 or LS1 style sensor, a translator is needed. This is a custom-made mounting bracket to hold the Mass Air Flow Sensor Translator.
This bracket provides a simple, yet effective way of mounting the Translator in a convenient location.
This clever bracket was designed and produced by one of our customers. He saw a need to eliminate have the translator wire tied under the hood.
The bracket is made in acrylic and painted black. It mounts using existing holes. NO modifications are made to the car or to the translator. It also leaves enough space below the bracket to access the headlight wiring or if you have the charcoal canister and stock intake or even a 4" Cold Air Intake pipe.
Once installed, the custom-made bracket is barely visible.
The bracket comes with a spacer and easy-to-follow directions.

NOTE - This bracket will not work if you retain the factory air cleaner box.
