Since we offer the black power-coated GM AC Delco Accumulator Evaporator Receiver Drier, part #7768, customers have inquired about the AC compressor. What makes our GM AC Delco Accumulator Evaporator Receiver Drier so popular is the fact we take the time to have it powder-coated black so it looks correct and original. The units from GM are all bare metal. The units were black on our cars. I believe we may be the only source for the black-powder coated ones. ONE COOL NEW GARAGE WALL DISPLAY -
This is cool garage wall display is one of the projects we have been working on the last several weeks. With access to several major You Pull Yards in a 60-mile radius, I been looking for a cool idea to market that is something that was Buick related, unique, and most of all something owners could personalize. I also wanted to make it happen for less than $100 retail. I think I found it.
While several Buick models have a one-piece taillight assembly on the trunk lid that includes the license plate, I wanted to focus on the smallest and lightest taillight assembly with a license plate area to use for this project.
I determined that the early 2000 Century models and Regals had a shared common taillight assembly on the trunk lid. The only difference was the Regal lacked the chrome trim around the top and bottom of the one-piece taillight assembly on the trunk lid.
One problem I encountered is, for every 2 I found, one had a busted or cracked light. I wanted only taillights that are close to mint. The other issue is, unlike older cars if the trunk was locked and you have no key, you can’t just hammer out the lock and insert a flat-bladed screw driver to pop open the trunk. Those cars have the lock assembly below the key hole for the trunk lock.
I was not discouraged! I now have several of each in stock. In each one we have replaced the 6 194 standard bulbs with the LED bulbs. This provides light from the red area as well as the two bulbs over the license plate area. I then install a small switch and power is accomplished with a 9 volt battery. Using a thin metal wire, I secure it so you can easily hang this on your garage or living room wall, if your spouse allows it. It weighs less than 5 lbs.
As a personal touch, you can put any of your old license plates in the center, a photo of your car, or a logo license plate. The ideas are endless. Several companies make plastic similar products based on the Corvettes.
Mine is the real deal, an actual Buick part. I even polish each assembly so it looks as close to new as possible. These cars are disappearing in the junkyards, so I try and get them every chance I can.
I know from things I have collected, I like the unusual items, and most unusual items are also rare.
I almost regret giving the junkyard the Yugo we had at our old house, rather than simply moving it up to our current house 12 years ago. I also got rid of the VW split-window van we had sitting and you can see what they bring today!

POWERMASTER VERSUS VACUUM BRAKES -
The big debate among 1985-1987 Turbo owners is the decision many have to make as soon as they see the brake light on their dash come on and realize something is going on with their brake system.
By far, the two most popular solutions are to retain the powermaster brake system or convert to the vacuum brake system. Pontiac must have realized there were powermaster issues when they decided to use a vacuum system with the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. At least that is my educated guess.
We ran the numbers for the first seven months of this year and we sell almost an equal number of both systems. Matter of fact, only 7 units separate the totals with the powermaster outselling the vacuum conversion kit we sell.
The thing to remember is that the warranty we have with Cardone on the rebuilt powermaster is good for virtually as long as you own the car and as long as I am still alive and in business. We have stood behind the warranty on units that we sold over 8-10 years ago.
Obviously, staying with the powermaster system keeps your car more original. When converting to a vacuum brake system, you do have to also replace the brake pedal or at the very least have a different diameter pin welded in a different spot on the brake pedal. I have not driven a Turbo Regal with vacuum brakes in years so a can’t explain how it feels compared to a powermaster format.
We also sell two different hydroboost systems, which are more involved to install and are more costly to buy.
My point for this article is simply this, whatever brake system you decide to go with, we have those parts available. Our vacuum conversion kit even includes a new gasket to the firewall as well as the vacuum block and gasket with the extra port to pick up the source for vacuum.
PHOTO 3 - We show a close up of both the powermaster brake pedal and a vacuum brake pedal. The powermaster brake pedal is the top one. The one under it is for a vacuum brake format. You can clearly see the pin sizes are different, as well as the location of the pin on the actual brake pedal.
I can also tell you from vast experience, removing a vacuum pedal from a junk car that smells is not a fun project. In some cases when I locate a G-body car, I try and locate another customer in the junkyard and pay him a few bucks to remove it for me. At my age, bending down in a smelly car is getting tougher to do!
GMP DIECAST GNX RACE CAR 1:18 SCALE -
Back in 2003 for Buick’s 100th Anniversary, GMP did a special run of a GNX diecast racecar version. It was limited to 2003, which matches the year 2003 for the 100th anniversary for Buick. They came packaged from GMP 6 to a case. I bought a sealed case of 6 from a friend of mine along with other parts. See the Rare Parts section for pricing. We have them priced very reasonable.

IT IS A SMALL WORLD -
I am sure at some point in your lifetime the saying, “It’s a small world” has rung true. I just experienced it last week. Over a year ago I bought a used car that sat on the lawn at a house near our old neighborhood. The home owner was the father of the son who had it for sale. The car had all the good features I was looking for and was pretty close to being a “Kirban quality” car. I was looking for a nice daily driver. The owner had all the records, including one showing the transmission was rebuilt in the last year.
The seller had a price of $5,600 on the car. I offered $4,000. The seller said he would pass as he had several people at his work that were interested. I decided to wait it out to see if the car was sitting, since I pass by it several times a week. A few weeks go by and the car is still on the father’s lawn. The owner calls me and says two potential buyers both backed out due to lack of funds.
I then told him I would come up to $4,400 firm as the car needed a few items to make it really nice. Again, he said no. After a month, he took my offer and I bought the car.
Fast forward to last week. Another car showed up on the father’s lawn. Turns out this car belongs to one of his friends who has a machine shop nearby. The car is nice and priced around $3,000. I get the phone number for the owner and offer $500 under what he is asking. I don’t need the car, but figured at the right money, I can resell it.
This seller remains tough at his asking price until he discovers my last name during the conversation. It turns out years ago I bought his personal Turbo-T from him for $6,000. With that revelation, the seller agrees to my price. I bought the car. It is indeed a small world. Can’t wait to see if a third car appears on this same lawn and maybe I can go 3 for 3!
THERE IS A SAYING IN THE CAR BUSINESS -
The saying is, “You can never go up in price, you can only down in price”. For the most part I think people will agree that is true.
I recently heard from a customer of mine where the opposite happened to him. He bought one of my Grand Nationals in 1999. He came up from Virginia to buy it and later retired to Florida. He was a cop. He garaged it when he lived in Virginia and in Florida. The car stayed as good as it was in 1999. In 2015 he put the Grand National up for sale. He had a buyer who wanted it, but first they wanted to have it appraised to make sure the appraisal would at least match the price my customer wanted for the car.
Guess what? The appraised value came in for several thousand dollars more than my customer wanted for the Grand National! The buyer really wanted the car, so he paid several thousand over the asking price.
What is the moral of the story? Sometimes the car you are looking at buying is worth more than the seller is asking. I don’t know if the buyer knew it was one of my cars originally.
Background - I sold the Grand National in 1999. That year I sold 44 Turbo Regals. The Grand National had 63,000 miles on it in 1999. When he sold it, the miles on the car was just under 73,000. I sold it in 1999 for $11,800. I rather not say what he sold it for in 2015, but needless to say, he got more for it than he paid me in 1999.
This story reminds me of another story. Maybe 15 years ago Trey Crease and I were going out for dinner. At the time, I had a mint 1989 5-series BMW. The car was white with a black leather interior and it was manual shift. Actually Pete Serio, the Window Rattle Guy, found it for me in Columbus, Ohio. The car was a Kirban-quality car. I spotted an ad in our local paper for an identical BMW 5-series, same year, manual shift, that was described as mint. I called the seller and he insisted his car was mint. I said I have one just like it. He was so positive his BMW would be nicer, he bet me $10. I told Trey we can pick up $10 on the way to dinner without much trouble!
So, Trey and I made this quick stop to check out this “mint” BMW. Within a few minutes, the seller realized my BMW was far nicer than his and honored his verbal agreement and gave me $10. Trey and I went on to dinner. A true story. I figured I would add this story and the next story this week in honor of Trey.
Trey would go with me on several trips when I would buy various Turbo Regals in the early 1990s. He enjoyed these frequent road trips, easy money and he got to drive every Turbo Regal back home. I mostly drove my 1995 M3 BMW. Those were the days. Sometimes in life you don’t realize those were the good times until they are gone.
ON THE NEWSFRONT- HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS - SEPTEMBER 2017 ISSUE -
The Hemmings Motor News September 2017 issue has an interesting article where they compare the 1987 Buick GNX to the 1990 Nissan GT-R. In my opinion, a very unusual comparison as the GT-R is only recently been imported into the USA. They both power up with a turbo but major differences exist between the 2 cars. I also feel the GNX is more fun in daily driving, especially when you punch the gas pedal and quick acceleration is realized at very low rpms. The GT-R, on the other hand is more of a racecar and you have to reach higher rpms to realize the power potential. It is a 10-page article. Don’t get me wrong, I would make room in my building for a GT-R.
On the plus side, it’s great to have any ink or comparison keeping our cars in the spotlight, even now when they are over 30 years of age.
Probably more amazing is the fact Hemmings Motor News started in 1954 and, unlike some magazines, is virtually untouched by the internet. For example, this issue totals over 500 pages! I can remember advertising the GTOs I sold back in the early 1980s in Hemmings Motor News. Back then I was getting $2,500 to $3,500 each.
1987 GRAND NATIONAL FOR SALE -
I am representing this 1987 Grand National for sale for the owner who resides in Florida. This car is at the top of the value chain and is, without any doubt, one of the best. It has been in the same family since it was new. The original owner bought it when he was single. Soon after, with a growing family, it became evident the Grand National was not a practical car, so he sold it to his brother who I have known for probably 20 years. His brother recently passed away and that is why the car is back down in Florida.
It has been made better than new. When I say better than new, it is mainly due to the fact it has had a very high-dollar repaint applied and everything has been freshened up.
I knew the brother that passed away quite well, since he was heavily involved with GTOs and even wrote a very detailed book on GTOs that is still sold today. He also had a GTO and was a very meticulous individual. His name was Eric White. The book he wrote years ago was titled, “GTOAA of America Pontiac GTO, GT-37 Illustrated Identification Guide.”
I will give a copy of Eric’s GTO identification book to whoever buys this pristine Grand National. Eric was very well known in the GTO world at the national level. I would see him every year at the National events during the 1990s. As a matter of fact, we discussed his new book and what he needed it to say since he was using GM logos, etc.
The Grand National is now in his brother’s hand, Kirk White, in Florida. They have every single document with this car since it was new. Plus, they even have the original Window Sticker. They also have every single repair receipt. Over $12,000 was spent on the repaint and to freshening up this car.
It still smells new! A smell that no company as of yet has ever duplicated. If they did, Corvette owners would line up to buy it!
The Grand National has almost every single option. The actual mileage is under 23,000 original miles. The car is 99% stock with the one exception being an aftermarket alarm system.
It has the stock powermaster brake system with the upgraded Cardone brake bowl. The car has used seat covers, which have protected the original seats. According to Kirk, he doesn’t believe anyone has ever sat in the back seat of this car.
This is a Kirban-quality car based in my numerous emails with Kirk and the fact I knew his brother from our mutual GTO connection for many years.
The price is $33,900. Keep in mind, receipts come with the car and the repaint totaled over $12,000. The repaint was only done because the car had such a poor paint job from the factory as many of them did.

This is a new factory AC Delco compressor for the 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal engine code 7.
It comes with the correct 6 groove pulley.
It is only the compressor. It includes an installation seal kit.
IMPORTANT - The unit has no oil. Appropriate refrigerant oil MUST be used, which is compatible with the system.
CAUTION - This compressor must be installed by a qualified mechanic.

We are the exclusive supplier for this unique desk lamp.
The valve cover on this custom-made lamp is an original from a 1984-1987 Turbo Regal. The value cover is then powder-coated silver so it looks new.
The base of the lamp is a new chrome-plated timing chain cover.
The pull chain used to turn the lamp on and off features a brand new AC Delco spark plug on the end of the pull chain.
The LED light strip used to light the lamp is almost as long as the valve cover.
The overall height of the assembled desk top lamp is approximately 16".

CUSTOMIZED BUICK TAILLIGHT LED WALL DISPLAY -
CHROME EDGE OR PLAIN
During one of my many trips to various junkyards, this idea recently came to me. It’s a cool way to offer an actual original Buick part that you can personalize in the section for a license plate.
Some of you probably save you old license plates or mementos from a previous car. Now you can mount your old license plate or logo plate in this unique wall display. Better yet, you can insert a picture of you and your pride and joy in that space (see photos.) The ideas are endless.
We purchase original taillight assemblies from used Buick Regal or Century models. Both taillight assemblies are vintage early 2000 models. These are not easy to find in perfect condition.
Each taillight assembly is pre-wired with 6 LED bulbs and a 9 volt battery with a switch. Hanging hardware is attached and the display comes ready to hang on the wall. You can light it up in your garage or work shop.
Each taillight assembly has been polished and cleaned. Display piece measures approximately 38" wide and weighs about 5 lbs.
We offer two versions. The version with the chrome edge (#KE-018) is from a Buick Century model. The plain version shown without the chrome edge (#KE-019) is from a Buick Regal.
NOTE- Some assemblies may have the Regal model or Century emblem still on the surface. It can easily be removed, since it is merely stuck on.
Our photos show both versions and 4 different ideas on what to put in the section where the license plate would normally go.
Here is a unique way to have something that you can personalize to your liking, and know that it is not something that has been mass produced since it is made from an original Buick part.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
UNDER-THE-HOOD STAINLESS STEEL BUTTON HEAD BOLTS, SCREWS & WASHERS (110) SET
Here is an easy method to dress up the engine bay area under the hood by replacing the factory hardware bolts with a new button head stainless set.
Developed by a fellow Turbo Regal owner several years ago, we are able to make this set available to our customers.
Each set comes with easy-to-follow directions. Each piece in the set of hardware is clearly marked, so you can simply remove and install each bolt one at a time. We suggest you replace one piece at a time, and put the original hardware in the same marked bag for future reference.
The set includes -
Bag 1A & 1 - A set of bolts and screws that secure the fenders to the inner fenders.
Bag 2 - The set of bolts that secure the radiator top plate support to the radiator.
Bag 3 - The battery hold-down bolt.
Bag 4 - The core support plate bolts.
Bag 5 - The hood latch at the core support bolts.
Bag 6 - The hood latch on the hood bolts.
Bag 7 - The hood shock at the hood bolts.
Bag 8 - The hood hinges, top and bottom bolts.
Bag 9 - The inner fender ground screws.

Bag 11 - The bolts to secure the turbo shield to the turbo for the 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regals. If you own a 1984 or 1985 Turbo Regal, these bolts would not be used.
There is a total of 110 button head bolts, screws, and washers in this set - 54 button head stainless screws/bolts and 56 stainless washers.
The stainless steel washers in this set are two different sizes, so when they are installed correctly, they stay centered on the bolt. This makes a nice, even appearance.

Some Turbo Regal owners may want to upgrade their radio to any of the various aftermarket radios available today.
One of our long-time customers, who owns a Turbo Regal, operates a mobile radio shop. He has made up this special kit using a brand new Pioneer DEH-150MP radio. He then pre-wires it to a special harness that will plug into the original Regal radio harness, so none of the factory wires get cut and spliced.
This Pioneer radio comes with full instructions and a remote. You must re-use the original factory brackets that attaches to the sides of the mounting bezel. The main photo shows the factory Regal brackets on the Pioneer radio. The radio does NOT come with those brackets. That photo shows the original radio brackets that you need to re-use from your stock radio to make this new mounting kit fit flush in the radio bezel opening. We do NOT include these brackets.
You simply attach the original radio brackets to the side of the kit. It comes with the proper hardware to secure the factory brackets to the outer radio bezel.
You can also buy the GM Flush Mount Kit by itself, part #7802. Then you can buy any aftermarket radio and use that mounting kit to have a flush mounted radio in your Regal. Most mounting kits do not use the factory brackets nor does it allow the radio to sit flush in the dash opening.

RUBBER STOPPERS (13) SET
Over time, these small detail rubber stoppers can be missing, become hard, or broken. A careless repaint can also create overspray on the stoppers on the doors.
Just like original 30-year-old tires that become hard, so can these critical rubber stoppers, which makes them useless.
Although a minor part, these stoppers help keep the car rattle free, especially the 2 on the trunk lid. Once these are adjusted properly, the trunk lid will not rattle.
This set includes a total of 13 pieces - 5 under-the-hood stoppers, 4 for the door jamb area, 2 for the trunk lid, and 2 for the gas door.
Each set includes:
3 Round stoppers. These are the critical stoppers for under the hood. In most cases due to engine heat, these have become hard and are no longer pliable.
2 Stoppers for the fender-to-hood lip.
4 Stoppers for the door jamb area. A sloppy paint job can leave overspray on the 4 located on the door jambs.
2 Trunk lid stoppers so you can adjust the trunk lid to seat correctly. The originals may be missing or broken.
2 Stoppers for the gas door.
Even the rubber stoppers under the hood of my personal car were rock hard and needed to be replaced!
Unfortunately, the company we get these from does not offer a complete correct set for our cars. I have to include some from another source to make this set correct for the 1984-1987 Regal models.

GM FLUSH MOUNT KIT FOR AFTERMARKET RADIO
Some Turbo Regal owners may want to upgrade their radio to any of the various aftermarket radios available today.
Most of the radio mounting kits sold today for doing an aftermarket radio installation do not allow the radio to sit back in the factory bezel.
The end result is it looks tacky. This special mounting kit uses the factory radio side brackets which attach to the side of this mounting kit.
By using this method it allows any aftermarket radio/CD, etc. player to sit flush with the factory radio bezel. As the one photo shows it accepts two different size radio units, which will work with most Pioneer units as well as many of the other aftermarket brands.
You must have the factory brackets, which we show in the lower center photo. Those brackets do NOT come with the new kit.
This kit was made possible by one of our Turbo Regal customers who is in the radio installation business and has it in his personal Turbo-T.

ONE COOL NEW GARAGE WALL DISPLAY -
This is cool garage wall display is one of the projects we have been working on the last several weeks. With access to several major You Pull Yards in a 60-mile radius, I been looking for a cool idea to market that is something that was Buick related, unique, and most of all something owners could personalize. I also wanted to make it happen for less than $100 retail. I think I found it.
While several Buick models have a one-piece taillight assembly on the trunk lid that includes the license plate, I wanted to focus on the smallest and lightest taillight assembly with a license plate area to use for this project.
I determined that the early 2000 Century models and Regals had a shared common taillight assembly on the trunk lid. The only difference was the Regal lacked the chrome trim around the top and bottom of the one-piece taillight assembly on the trunk lid.
One problem I encountered is, for every 2 I found, one had a busted or cracked light. I wanted only taillights that are close to mint. The other issue is, unlike older cars if the trunk was locked and you have no key, you can’t just hammer out the lock and insert a flat-bladed screw driver to pop open the trunk. Those cars have the lock assembly below the key hole for the trunk lock.
I was not discouraged! I now have several of each in stock. In each one we have replaced the 6 194 standard bulbs with the LED bulbs. This provides light from the red area as well as the two bulbs over the license plate area. I then install a small switch and power is accomplished with a 9 volt battery. Using a thin metal wire, I secure it so you can easily hang this on your garage or living room wall, if your spouse allows it. It weighs less than 5 lbs.
As a personal touch, you can put any of your old license plates in the center, a photo of your car, or a logo license plate. The ideas are endless. Several companies make plastic similar products based on the Corvettes.
Mine is the real deal, an actual Buick part. I even polish each assembly so it looks as close to new as possible. These cars are disappearing in the junkyards, so I try and get them every chance I can.
I know from things I have collected, I like the unusual items, and most unusual items are also rare.
I almost regret giving the junkyard the Yugo we had at our old house, rather than simply moving it up to our current house 12 years ago. I also got rid of the VW split-window van we had sitting and you can see what they bring today!

POWERMASTER VERSUS VACUUM BRAKES -
The big debate among 1985-1987 Turbo owners is the decision many have to make as soon as they see the brake light on their dash come on and realize something is going on with their brake system.
By far, the two most popular solutions are to retain the powermaster brake system or convert to the vacuum brake system. Pontiac must have realized there were powermaster issues when they decided to use a vacuum system with the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. At least that is my educated guess.
We ran the numbers for the first seven months of this year and we sell almost an equal number of both systems. Matter of fact, only 7 units separate the totals with the powermaster outselling the vacuum conversion kit we sell.
The thing to remember is that the warranty we have with Cardone on the rebuilt powermaster is good for virtually as long as you own the car and as long as I am still alive and in business. We have stood behind the warranty on units that we sold over 8-10 years ago.
Obviously, staying with the powermaster system keeps your car more original. When converting to a vacuum brake system, you do have to also replace the brake pedal or at the very least have a different diameter pin welded in a different spot on the brake pedal. I have not driven a Turbo Regal with vacuum brakes in years so a can’t explain how it feels compared to a powermaster format.
We also sell two different hydroboost systems, which are more involved to install and are more costly to buy.
My point for this article is simply this, whatever brake system you decide to go with, we have those parts available. Our vacuum conversion kit even includes a new gasket to the firewall as well as the vacuum block and gasket with the extra port to pick up the source for vacuum.
PHOTO 3 - We show a close up of both the powermaster brake pedal and a vacuum brake pedal. The powermaster brake pedal is the top one. The one under it is for a vacuum brake format. You can clearly see the pin sizes are different, as well as the location of the pin on the actual brake pedal.
I can also tell you from vast experience, removing a vacuum pedal from a junk car that smells is not a fun project. In some cases when I locate a G-body car, I try and locate another customer in the junkyard and pay him a few bucks to remove it for me. At my age, bending down in a smelly car is getting tougher to do!
GMP DIECAST GNX RACE CAR 1:18 SCALE -
Back in 2003 for Buick’s 100th Anniversary, GMP did a special run of a GNX diecast racecar version. It was limited to 2003, which matches the year 2003 for the 100th anniversary for Buick. They came packaged from GMP 6 to a case. I bought a sealed case of 6 from a friend of mine along with other parts. See the Rare Parts section for pricing. We have them priced very reasonable.

IT IS A SMALL WORLD -
I am sure at some point in your lifetime the saying, “It’s a small world” has rung true. I just experienced it last week. Over a year ago I bought a used car that sat on the lawn at a house near our old neighborhood. The home owner was the father of the son who had it for sale. The car had all the good features I was looking for and was pretty close to being a “Kirban quality” car. I was looking for a nice daily driver. The owner had all the records, including one showing the transmission was rebuilt in the last year.
The seller had a price of $5,600 on the car. I offered $4,000. The seller said he would pass as he had several people at his work that were interested. I decided to wait it out to see if the car was sitting, since I pass by it several times a week. A few weeks go by and the car is still on the father’s lawn. The owner calls me and says two potential buyers both backed out due to lack of funds.
I then told him I would come up to $4,400 firm as the car needed a few items to make it really nice. Again, he said no. After a month, he took my offer and I bought the car.
Fast forward to last week. Another car showed up on the father’s lawn. Turns out this car belongs to one of his friends who has a machine shop nearby. The car is nice and priced around $3,000. I get the phone number for the owner and offer $500 under what he is asking. I don’t need the car, but figured at the right money, I can resell it.
This seller remains tough at his asking price until he discovers my last name during the conversation. It turns out years ago I bought his personal Turbo-T from him for $6,000. With that revelation, the seller agrees to my price. I bought the car. It is indeed a small world. Can’t wait to see if a third car appears on this same lawn and maybe I can go 3 for 3!
THERE IS A SAYING IN THE CAR BUSINESS -
The saying is, “You can never go up in price, you can only down in price”. For the most part I think people will agree that is true.
I recently heard from a customer of mine where the opposite happened to him. He bought one of my Grand Nationals in 1999. He came up from Virginia to buy it and later retired to Florida. He was a cop. He garaged it when he lived in Virginia and in Florida. The car stayed as good as it was in 1999. In 2015 he put the Grand National up for sale. He had a buyer who wanted it, but first they wanted to have it appraised to make sure the appraisal would at least match the price my customer wanted for the car.
Guess what? The appraised value came in for several thousand dollars more than my customer wanted for the Grand National! The buyer really wanted the car, so he paid several thousand over the asking price.
What is the moral of the story? Sometimes the car you are looking at buying is worth more than the seller is asking. I don’t know if the buyer knew it was one of my cars originally.
Background - I sold the Grand National in 1999. That year I sold 44 Turbo Regals. The Grand National had 63,000 miles on it in 1999. When he sold it, the miles on the car was just under 73,000. I sold it in 1999 for $11,800. I rather not say what he sold it for in 2015, but needless to say, he got more for it than he paid me in 1999.
This story reminds me of another story. Maybe 15 years ago Trey Crease and I were going out for dinner. At the time, I had a mint 1989 5-series BMW. The car was white with a black leather interior and it was manual shift. Actually Pete Serio, the Window Rattle Guy, found it for me in Columbus, Ohio. The car was a Kirban-quality car. I spotted an ad in our local paper for an identical BMW 5-series, same year, manual shift, that was described as mint. I called the seller and he insisted his car was mint. I said I have one just like it. He was so positive his BMW would be nicer, he bet me $10. I told Trey we can pick up $10 on the way to dinner without much trouble!
So, Trey and I made this quick stop to check out this “mint” BMW. Within a few minutes, the seller realized my BMW was far nicer than his and honored his verbal agreement and gave me $10. Trey and I went on to dinner. A true story. I figured I would add this story and the next story this week in honor of Trey.
Trey would go with me on several trips when I would buy various Turbo Regals in the early 1990s. He enjoyed these frequent road trips, easy money and he got to drive every Turbo Regal back home. I mostly drove my 1995 M3 BMW. Those were the days. Sometimes in life you don’t realize those were the good times until they are gone.
ON THE NEWSFRONT- HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS - SEPTEMBER 2017 ISSUE -
The Hemmings Motor News September 2017 issue has an interesting article where they compare the 1987 Buick GNX to the 1990 Nissan GT-R. In my opinion, a very unusual comparison as the GT-R is only recently been imported into the USA. They both power up with a turbo but major differences exist between the 2 cars. I also feel the GNX is more fun in daily driving, especially when you punch the gas pedal and quick acceleration is realized at very low rpms. The GT-R, on the other hand is more of a racecar and you have to reach higher rpms to realize the power potential. It is a 10-page article. Don’t get me wrong, I would make room in my building for a GT-R.
On the plus side, it’s great to have any ink or comparison keeping our cars in the spotlight, even now when they are over 30 years of age.
Probably more amazing is the fact Hemmings Motor News started in 1954 and, unlike some magazines, is virtually untouched by the internet. For example, this issue totals over 500 pages! I can remember advertising the GTOs I sold back in the early 1980s in Hemmings Motor News. Back then I was getting $2,500 to $3,500 each.
1987 GRAND NATIONAL FOR SALE -
I am representing this 1987 Grand National for sale for the owner who resides in Florida. This car is at the top of the value chain and is, without any doubt, one of the best. It has been in the same family since it was new. The original owner bought it when he was single. Soon after, with a growing family, it became evident the Grand National was not a practical car, so he sold it to his brother who I have known for probably 20 years. His brother recently passed away and that is why the car is back down in Florida.
It has been made better than new. When I say better than new, it is mainly due to the fact it has had a very high-dollar repaint applied and everything has been freshened up.
I knew the brother that passed away quite well, since he was heavily involved with GTOs and even wrote a very detailed book on GTOs that is still sold today. He also had a GTO and was a very meticulous individual. His name was Eric White. The book he wrote years ago was titled, “GTOAA of America Pontiac GTO, GT-37 Illustrated Identification Guide.”
I will give a copy of Eric’s GTO identification book to whoever buys this pristine Grand National. Eric was very well known in the GTO world at the national level. I would see him every year at the National events during the 1990s. As a matter of fact, we discussed his new book and what he needed it to say since he was using GM logos, etc.
The Grand National is now in his brother’s hand, Kirk White, in Florida. They have every single document with this car since it was new. Plus, they even have the original Window Sticker. They also have every single repair receipt. Over $12,000 was spent on the repaint and to freshening up this car.
It still smells new! A smell that no company as of yet has ever duplicated. If they did, Corvette owners would line up to buy it!
The Grand National has almost every single option. The actual mileage is under 23,000 original miles. The car is 99% stock with the one exception being an aftermarket alarm system.
It has the stock powermaster brake system with the upgraded Cardone brake bowl. The car has used seat covers, which have protected the original seats. According to Kirk, he doesn’t believe anyone has ever sat in the back seat of this car.
This is a Kirban-quality car based in my numerous emails with Kirk and the fact I knew his brother from our mutual GTO connection for many years.
The price is $33,900. Keep in mind, receipts come with the car and the repaint totaled over $12,000. The repaint was only done because the car had such a poor paint job from the factory as many of them did.

We are the exclusive supplier for this unique desk lamp.
The valve cover on this custom-made lamp is an original from a 1984-1987 Turbo Regal. The value cover is then powder-coated silver so it looks new.
The base of the lamp is a new chrome-plated timing chain cover.
The pull chain used to turn the lamp on and off features a brand new AC Delco spark plug on the end of the pull chain.
The LED light strip used to light the lamp is almost as long as the valve cover.
The overall height of the assembled desk top lamp is approximately 16".
The lamp comes with easy-to-follow directions since minor assembly is required.

CUSTOMIZED BUICK TAILLIGHT LED WALL DISPLAY -
CHROME EDGE OR PLAIN
During one of my many trips to various junkyards, this idea recently came to me. It’s a cool way to offer an actual original Buick part that you can personalize in the section for a license plate.
Some of you probably save you old license plates or mementos from a previous car. Now you can mount your old license plate or logo plate in this unique wall display. Better yet, you can insert a picture of you and your pride and joy in that space (see photos.) The ideas are endless.
We purchase original taillight assemblies from used Buick Regal or Century models. Both taillight assemblies are vintage early 2000 models. These are not easy to find in perfect condition.
Each taillight assembly is pre-wired with 6 LED bulbs and a 9 volt battery with a switch. Hanging hardware is attached and the display comes ready to hang on the wall. You can light it up in your garage or work shop.
Each taillight assembly has been polished and cleaned. Display piece measures approximately 38" wide and weighs about 5 lbs.
We offer two versions. The version with the chrome edge (#KE-018) is from a Buick Century model. The plain version shown without the chrome edge (#KE-019) is from a Buick Regal.
NOTE- Some assemblies may have the Regal model or Century emblem still on the surface. It can easily be removed, since it is merely stuck on.
Our photos show both versions and 4 different ideas on what to put in the section where the license plate would normally go.
Here is a unique way to have something that you can personalize to your liking, and know that it is not something that has been mass produced since it is made from an original Buick part.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
UNDER-THE-HOOD STAINLESS STEEL BUTTON HEAD BOLTS, SCREWS & WASHERS (110) SET
Here is an easy method to dress up the engine bay area under the hood by replacing the factory hardware bolts with a new button head stainless set.
Developed by a fellow Turbo Regal owner several years ago, we are able to make this set available to our customers.
Each set comes with easy-to-follow directions. Each piece in the set of hardware is clearly marked, so you can simply remove and install each bolt one at a time. We suggest you replace one piece at a time, and put the original hardware in the same marked bag for future reference.
The set includes -
Bag 1A & 1 - A set of bolts and screws that secure the fenders to the inner fenders.
Bag 2 - The set of bolts that secure the radiator top plate support to the radiator.
Bag 3 - The battery hold-down bolt.
Bag 4 - The core support plate bolts.
Bag 5 - The hood latch at the core support bolts.
Bag 6 - The hood latch on the hood bolts.
Bag 7 - The hood shock at the hood bolts.
Bag 8 - The hood hinges, top and bottom bolts.
Bag 9 - The inner fender ground screws.
Bag 10 - The header panel bolts.
Bag 11 - The bolts to secure the turbo shield to the turbo for the 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regals. If you own a 1984 or 1985 Turbo Regal, these bolts would not be used.
There is a total of 110 button head bolts, screws, and washers in this set - 54 button head stainless screws/bolts and 56 stainless washers.
The stainless steel washers in this set are two different sizes, so when they are installed correctly, they stay centered on the bolt. This makes a nice, even appearance.

Drop-In Flush-mounted PIONEER AM/FM CD, AUX, MP3 player
complete with Harness and GM Flush Mount Kit
Some Turbo Regal owners may want to upgrade their radio to any of the various aftermarket radios available today.
One of our long-time customers, who owns a Turbo Regal, operates a mobile radio shop. He has made up this special kit using a brand new Pioneer DEH-150MP radio. He then pre-wires it to a special harness that will plug into the original Regal radio harness, so none of the factory wires get cut and spliced.
This Pioneer radio comes with full instructions and a remote. You must re-use the original factory brackets that attaches to the sides of the mounting bezel. The main photo shows the factory Regal brackets on the Pioneer radio. The radio does NOT come with those brackets. That photo shows the original radio brackets that you need to re-use from your stock radio to make this new mounting kit fit flush in the radio bezel opening. We do NOT include these brackets.
You simply attach the original radio brackets to the side of the kit. It comes with the proper hardware to secure the factory brackets to the outer radio bezel.
You can also buy the GM Flush Mount Kit by itself, part #7802. Then you can buy any aftermarket radio and use that mounting kit to have a flush mounted radio in your Regal. Most mounting kits do not use the factory brackets nor does it allow the radio to sit flush in the dash opening.
Another excellent replacement for any interior restoration.

RUBBER STOPPERS (13) SET
Over time, these small detail rubber stoppers can be missing, become hard, or broken. A careless repaint can also create overspray on the stoppers on the doors.
Just like original 30-year-old tires that become hard, so can these critical rubber stoppers, which makes them useless.
Although a minor part, these stoppers help keep the car rattle free, especially the 2 on the trunk lid. Once these are adjusted properly, the trunk lid will not rattle.
This set includes a total of 13 pieces - 5 under-the-hood stoppers, 4 for the door jamb area, 2 for the trunk lid, and 2 for the gas door.
Each set includes:
3 Round stoppers. These are the critical stoppers for under the hood. In most cases due to engine heat, these have become hard and are no longer pliable.
2 Stoppers for the fender-to-hood lip.
4 Stoppers for the door jamb area. A sloppy paint job can leave overspray on the 4 located on the door jambs.
2 Trunk lid stoppers so you can adjust the trunk lid to seat correctly. The originals may be missing or broken.
2 Stoppers for the gas door.
Even the rubber stoppers under the hood of my personal car were rock hard and needed to be replaced!
Unfortunately, the company we get these from does not offer a complete correct set for our cars. I have to include some from another source to make this set correct for the 1984-1987 Regal models.

GM FLUSH MOUNT KIT FOR AFTERMARKET RADIO
Some Turbo Regal owners may want to upgrade their radio to any of the various aftermarket radios available today.
Most of the radio mounting kits sold today for doing an aftermarket radio installation do not allow the radio to sit back in the factory bezel.
The end result is it looks tacky. This special mounting kit uses the factory radio side brackets which attach to the side of this mounting kit.
By using this method it allows any aftermarket radio/CD, etc. player to sit flush with the factory radio bezel. As the one photo shows it accepts two different size radio units, which will work with most Pioneer units as well as many of the other aftermarket brands.
You must have the factory brackets, which we show in the lower center photo. Those brackets do NOT come with the new kit.
This kit was made possible by one of our Turbo Regal customers who is in the radio installation business and has it in his personal Turbo-T.
See part #7803 if you want to purchase a complete Pioneer radio with the mounting kit included. That part number also shows you how it will look once installed in a Turbo Regal.

I went to the house of the other person and was truly amazed at what was in his garages and around the property. Fortunately, I had my camera and will share the photos next week. It was like being on that TV show “American Pickers.” I ended up buying two dead 1985 regular Regals from him for parts that I hope I will have soon. I bought them even though one of them I could only see about 25% of the car in the garage! He has 4 of them. One is a V8 Regal with 2,200 actual miles on it.
