Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 08-21-2019 –

UPDATE FOR THE 1987 TURBO-T FOR SALE LAST WEEK –

This car was not mine to sell. My good friend Greg found it and had his brother go get the car just the day before the Inner Circle went out. They had me market the car. This unusual 1987 Turbo-T sold quickly. I had at least 10 inquiries on this car within the first two hours last Wednesday. The buyer had it delivered to my house until he can arrange to pick it up. Besides being an unusual color combination, it has virtually every possible option, minus the engine block heater. This car is well worth restoring because of its rare color combination, the fact it has a factory astroroof, and it has virtually almost every possible option for 1987. Also, it had been garaged up until about 5 years ago by the owner who passed away. The car is very solid.

This 1987 Turbo-T was raced frequently at Englishtown back in the day. The 1987 Turbo-T is a prime example of old school technology, which we show in Photo 1.

PHOTO 1 –The top left photo show the large Ron Joseph decal on the back glass. He worked on these cars back in the day. Alongside the decal, I have placed 0 to 60 Trey Crease’s 2001 Turbo Regal catalog. This was another well-known Turbo Regal supplier from back in the day. Trey first started out by working for us before going out on his own. The top right photo shows the 5 switch plates we used to sell that replaces the ashtray in the center console.

The bottom left photo shows the popular over-sized K&N filter racers would use with a flex duct hose leading to it from the back of the headlight. The bottom right photo shows the old-style torque strap, our first design adjustable fuel regulator, and what appears to be Red Armstrong’s volt booster behind the alternator. Only us old timers would recognize some of these old-school upgrades and the companies behind them and sold them.

FOR ANY HONDA MOTORCYCLE COLLECTOR - 1975 HONDA 750 - FOR SALE –

The person who owns the rare 1956 Corvette has a 1975 Honda 750 CB motorcycle for sale. It has about 36,000 original miles on it. He has owned it for about 15 years. It does have a 6-inch raised front bar. He believes he has the factory bar besides. It may or may not be the original front bar. The price tag is just $4,295.

This same owner has a really tricked out rare 1978 Monza 2-door stationwagon he would sell. It is fitted with a bored out 350 Chevy engine, backed up by a turbo 350 transmission and 4.11 gears in a10-bolt rear. The body and paint are all redone in a GM color, silver grey. Door handles have been removed so they open by a remote. The engine has less than 1,000 miles on it since it has been rebuilt and bored. This is an extremely nice car for just $17,300. The Monza looks like an early Vega, and like the Vega, it was only made for a short period of time. For more info, contact me direct [email protected]

PHOTO 2 - We show two photos of this Honda 750 CB model. The bike does have a dent in the side of the gas tank, which may be visible in the one photo. Pass the word to any Honda motorcycle collector. For more info, contact me [email protected]

ONE FINE LOOKING 1987 TURBO-T –

Jeff Boorse, a long-time local customer of ours, brought his car to the Black Ice Detail that shares our shop with us. He had his pride and joy exterior detailed and the paint buffed to a high luster. Jeff bought his Turbo-T about 17 years ago and had it repainted almost immediately. An extremely nice example that had about 53,000 miles on it when he purchased it back in 2002.

Even with all the modifications he has done over the years, he has retained the factory look. He recently had the Spoolfool fillers installed and our fiberglass front and rear bumpers. The factory rubber bumper cushions were installed on the fiberglass bumpers so it looks totally stock, minus the bumper guards. You would have to touch the bumper to know that they are fiberglass, they look that good. The final touch was that he installed an original flip-down stay-down license black bracket, which insures that no gas spillage will happen by accident.

Another nice touch is that he had the T-Type logo embroidered in the burgundy original headrests. Although very subtle, it looks factory. Besides being a hardtop, it features the black-out trim option, which is one of the desirable options.

PHOTO 3 - We show 4 views of Jeff’s 1987 Turbo-T the day he picked it up after Black Ice Detail performed their magic touch to the 17-year-old paint job. The car is outstanding in every respect and should it ever be up for sale, Jeff will have no problem selling this prime example. I lost count of how many cars I have owned in the last 17 years!

If you are local to us and want a high-end detail or paint correction, contact Black Ice Detail at 267-221-7218. He also does the ceramic coatings on all types of vehicles.

CHECK THIS OUT ON YOUTUBE – BLANCO BROWN “THE GIT UP” CHALLENGE –

This catchy song “The Git Up” has gone from 11 million views 2 weeks ago to 18 million this past weekend. There are multiple videos of people doing the The Git Up Challenge. Blanco actually owns a 1965 GTO. We think it’s the GTO that appears in one of his YouTube renditions of this hit song “The Git Up.”

Darrell, Devyn, and myself got to meet him last year at the GTO convention in Oaks Convention center, where I was a guest speaker. He attended my seminar and wanted my autograph! I am sure if I see him again, I will want his autograph!

Click on the link below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7U6AoZ27yE

Here’s another link of a video he did. We think it’s his GTO in the background.

PHOTO 4 – The photo on the left shows Blanco and myself after I signed a 1965 GTO poster for him. Music has always been an important part with muscle cars. The photo on the right is a screenshot of another video he did with the GTO in the background.

FOR SALE – 1956 RESTORED T-BIRD AND SURVIVOR 1956 CORVETTE –

Since last week’s Inner Circle, I have talked to several experts regarding the 1956 T-Bird and the 1956 Corvette survivor. I wanted to seek their advice as to their value, since I am not an expert regarding these cars. The problem that many cars from the 1950s now face is the shrinking market for buyers that actually remember those cars and would be a potential buyer. Exceptions would be a museum or a large car collector as neither car is easy to drive. This becomes a real issue if you are over 5'6" tall. There is virtually no adjustment in the seat so you sit just mere inches from the steering wheel. Both cars steer terribly.

The Corvette owner won’t budge on his price. I can’t blame him. He bought the car when he was a senior in high school in 1965. It was a trade-in at a local Dodge dealer. He watched it sit on the lot for several months. First it was priced around $1,595 then dropped to $1,495. He stopped in and negotiated the dual quad solid lift cam 1956 Corvette for $1,275 out the door in 1965! They only made 111 equipped like this in 1956. He graduated the same year I did from Abington High School, which was a rival school to Lower Moreland where Eileen and I attended.

On the other hand, the 1956 T-Bird owner’s health is declining. A price under $50 grand would buy his 100% restored show quality 1956 T-Bird with all the extra parts. It also includes virtually every book and catalog on T-Birds. Over $28 grand was spent years ago for paint body work and chrome. This car is show quality from any angle.

It seems cars like this would be better to sell at a high-end car collector auction where hype plays a big part among several potential high-end bidders.

STILL AVAILABLE - REBUILT SMALL BLOCK CHEVY ENGINE –

The same seller who has the 1956 T-Bird also has this completely rebuilt Chevy engine sitting for last 5 years in his garage still on an engine stand. It was run on a dyno for 28 hours. Seller has proof of this. The engine is bored 30 over. This is as new as it gets. See Photo 2 in the August 7, 2019 Inner Circle. Priced reasonable at just $1,995 firm, complete with stand it rolls on. Since it has been rebuilt and dynoed it was never put in a car or truck. This is a fresh Chevy engine that needs a home under the hood of someone’s project.

This is a good deal. The seller has all the dyno results and proof. I am told it is a 1966 engine 283. The engine has roller rockers as seen in the photo. A Holly sits under the cool-looking air cleaner.

1978 OLDS 4-SPEED MANUAL OMEGA TWO-DOOR COUPE - FOR SALE –

This 1978 Olds Omega is still available. This is a very solid car. Being a 4-speed manual, it is extremely rare. It has the 305 V8 engine in it and has the full gauge package. The car appears to be all original. I started the car up the other day. It is a very rare car and it a car you can enjoy for very little investment.

I happen to know the manager at the car lot where it is for sale. The car is advertised for $8,900. However, call Lou at 267-994-8791 and use my name and the price is just $6,995. Saves you $2,000!

PETER FONDA RIP –

You probably heard the news that Peter Fonda passed away last week at age 79. He made his mark with the film “Easy Rider” in 1969. Peter co-wrote the movie “Easy Rider” and starred in it. With a budget of under $400 grand it proved to be a winner grossing over $40 million dollars worldwide over the years and is in the top 100 films. A good return on the investment!

A bit of trivia about his father, Henry Fonda, who was a major actor for many years. He actually shared an apartment with Jimmy Stewart when both were struggling to make it as movie actors. They would remain friends for over 50 years. True story.

It’s a shame so few westerns are made anymore. Those are movies that both Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart are most remembered for to me.

IT’S ALWAYS SAD DEALING WITH CAR OWNERS THAT HAVE HEALTH ISSUES –

I remember years ago when Jay Frick passed away. For you new Turbo owners, Jay sold parts for Turbo Regals for many years and actually worked at a GM dealership. I went to his service and later was contacted by his family about buying his Turbo Regal parts. I felt sad going through his Buick parts collection as I not only recognized parts he had bought from me, but also from Trey Crease (0 to 60) who also has now passed away.

Another sad memory that sticks vividly in my memory is when I was buying Turbo Regals in the early 1990s. I remember going up to New England (a drive I hate due to traffic) to purchase a nice original 1987 Grand National. The owner lived on the second floor of an apartment complex and they had garages in another building. His health had declined to the point he stayed mostly in his bedroom that was covered with probably every Turbo Regal poster that could be had back in the day.

He apologized that he could not show me his Grand National personally, instead gave me the key to the garage and the car. He asked me if I wanted to also buy all the posters he had around his bedroom. I declined as I figured it would serve him better to remember the better times. He did make one final request, which I said I would gladly do. He said, “Could you please pass by my bedroom window with the car as you leave so I could see it one more time?”

Naturally, I said no problem. To this day that proved to be one of the saddest purchases I have made over the years of buying various cars. True story…

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
