DON GARLITS AUTOGRAPHED STRUT CAP WITH CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY -
FITS: ALL 2005-2020 CHARGER-CHRYSLER 300 & 2009-2020 CHALLENGER -

SALE PRICE; $39.95 each (Sale price thru end of September 2020) plus $12 shipping. Best deal if you got a friend with one of these Hemi powered cars buy 2 or more now at the special introductory price. To get this sale price you must call our office 215-766-1611 to order. Remember if you own a Hellcat be sure to tell Christina so we can send you the proper strut cap from the next batch. The next batch will be approximately two weeks later. I just sent the next batch to Don to autograph. If you got a friend with a Hemi to let him or her know. The first batch fits all the other Hemi cars as noted except the Hellcat models, and replaces the passenger side strut cap.

PHOTO 1 - We show the autographed Don Garlits strut cap on Anthony Colucci's Hemi Challenger. Anthony is just one customer who sent us pictures of the autographed Don Garlits strut cap on their Challenger. They all agree it really looks good on their Hemi powered cars. Only two weeks left before the price goes to $49.95 plus $12 shipping. We just sent the next batch of strut caps down to Don in Florida to autograph. This batch will work on all the hemi cars including the Hellcat models. These will be for the drivers side strut cap as the Hellcat has a reservoir that blocks the passenger side strut.

THIS IS ALMOST LIKE HITTING THE LOTTERY -

When we get rebuilt powermasters back from Cardone most have the motors painted black or bare metal. Because we are dealing with cores that are over 30 years old most of the ones we send to Cardone look terrible on the outside. Cardone rebuilds them, they don’t restore them. That would require another process by another source plus lead to higher costs. Other suppliers may offer this.

Once in a great while we get rebuilt ones back that would almost pass for new because they either came off a low mileage Turbo Regal or was removed years ago and stored properly. We don’t price them any differently because if there's an issue with it it is tough to have it repaired and returned looking like it did originally.

My point? Someone just hit the lottery and the rebuilt powermaster pictured below was sent to one lucky customer last week. Once in a while good fortune comes your way. But like the state lottery the odds are never in your favor!

PHOTO 2 - We show two views of this extremely nice rebuilt Cardone power master unit. Even the metal brackets that secure the electric motor to the master cylinder are not rusted. You can even read the wording on the one pressure hose! The original label on the motor housing is still intact, but the wording has been wiped off during the rebuilt process.

AN ASSORTMENT OF RAMBLINGS -

With the high demand in recent years for vacuum brake kits we have been buying a lot of original vacuum brake pedals. I have always been curious why Buick didn't paint the entire brake pedal assembly? The paint line appears to have been taped off about 2/3rds up the pedal. The remaining ⅓ turns to rust over time. At least in my part of the country. In the below photo this is the Turbo Regal pedal that was in the 7,700 mile Grand National we just sold. The buyer will get the original pedal. Did Buick paint it partially to save a few pennies? Did they spray paint it after it was installed in the car and simply taped off the top portion? We paint the entire vacuum brake pedal to go with the vacuum brake kits we sell. It would have really been nice if Buick painted the driveshafts when they were being built. That part seems to turn to rust the fastest on these cars.

One of the magazines I buy once in a while is called “AutaBuy” It runs over 150 pages and most of the ads are from collector dealers throughout the country that specialize in collector cars. Some of these dealers even hype cars that are really not collectible, but are low mileage examples. In the latest issue I only saw one Turbo Regal being offered. It was a 1986 Grand National. No mention of the mileage but states it has a bigger turbo, special exhaust, and more. The price tag? $36,900. In the same issue a 1968 VW bus is listed as being totally restored with a new motor and rebuilt transmission. The price tag? A whopping $47,000! I am just dumbfounded that a 1968 VW bus would be priced that high. The 1968 did not have that classic split windshield.

The problem being a modified Turbo Regal sold by a Specialty shop is you may not get the proper information to know all the modifications that were done by the owner. This becomes very critical the minute something goes wrong! This can especially become an issue if any work was done internally to the engine.

I know back in the day I avoided modified cars. The biggest modifications I would run into was alarm systems. Back then there were a lot of different alarm systems. I always made it a point to remove any alarm system. Many of them were just spliced into the various factory harnesses. Next week I will tell you a story about one Turbo Regal I sold and the headache it caused for the buyer!

PHOTO 3 - The first two photos show this low mileage Turbo Regal brake pedal and how Buick painted only about 2/3rds of the pedal leaving the rest of the pedal bare metal. The last two photos show the cover of the magazine “AutaBuy” and the page listing the 1986 Grand National.
The magazine has over 150 pages, with probably well over a 1,000 cars for sale yet only one Turbo Regal in the entire magazine.

MORE MEMORIES -

PHOTO 4 - Two of the photos show the first truck we used to haul the cars back home. It was a 1997 Dodge Dakota extended cab V8. The one picture shows me stopped in front of a Drive-In movie theatre. Back then Drive-In movie theatres were a dying enterprise, but now they have become quite popular because of the virus. Another photo shows my GMC HD truck in front of the cemetery near our house. It was founded in 1743. The remaining photo shows two Grand Nationals being loaded up in an enclosed trailer at our old house on Sugarbottom Road. Thinking back, it occurred to me that over 300 of these cars came down our street and then left for all different parts of the country.

TURBO REGAL MECHANICS -

One issue new Turbo Regal owners are experiencing is find a good mechanic near them that works on these cars. If you have a good Turbo Regal mechanic email me the name of the garage, phone number, city and state. We will be publishing a list next week. We have supplied several major sources for many years and we will be listing them along with any others that we find out about. Help us help others maintain their Turbo Regals. My email is [email protected]

1986-1987 TURBO REGAL AC DELCO WATER VALVE UPDATE -

As of this writing we have fewer than 3 left! To order you must call Christina at 215-766-1611 so she can reserve one for you. Our part #6594 and our current price for our remaining stock is $79.95 plus shipping. Every aftermarket version looks nothing like the factory AC Delco part. You are getting this word first as an Inner Circle Member. AC DELCO has discontinued this critical original part. Eventually I am sure one of the major suppliers will reproduce this critical part. Once gone barring a miracle I don’t see anymore turning up in any kind of quantity to buy.

1986-1987 TURBO REGAL POWER STEERING PUMP UPDATE -

We contacted our contact at Cardone to see if someone could physically see if by any slim change they had any cores laying around at their Texas plant. The report I got is they have fewer than 10. They need to be disassembled to see how many can be rebuilt. Watch for updates.

MEMORIES FROM MY PAST -

Here is another Turbo Regal story. This one involves a 1986 T-Type hardtop I purchased. It was black with a tan cloth interior. One owner and a Georgia car. Good combination plus being a Georgia car it was rust free. I struck a deal with the owner. The year was around 1998. The owner and his wife were going on vacation in a few weeks in the Carolinas. He offered to drive the T-Type to a place where we could meet up in either North or South Carolina. This was very nice of this person to do. I just hoped that the car was exactly as described because if I did not buy it then the buyer is stuck taking two cars on his vacation with his wife.

Turns out the time frame was the exact same time as the BMW National Club was holding their National event at their South Carolina plant. I figured that would be the perfect meeting point. I could go to the BMW show at the same time. At the time I had a BMW 1995 M3 coupe. I contacted Pete Serio in Columbus Ohio, the original window rattle guy to see if he was wanting to make the trip with me. He never said no as he knew I was picking up all the costs.

So everything was set. We met up with the seller in the BMW plant parking lot. Probably the only time Turbo Regal was sold at a BMW factory. I put the PA dealer plate on the car did the initial test drive and off the seller went on his vacation a few dollars richer. Pete and I stayed and attended the BMW convention. BMW judging is a bit unusual, not something most of you have probably experienced.

They actually make all participants remove everything from the trunk. I can’t remember why they do this but they do remove everything. I am thinking if they did this at a Turbo Regal car show most participants would still be there after dark trying to figure out how the jack and spare tire gets put in the trunk like they did on the assembly line! I let Pete drive the T-Type back home. The owner told me the car always had a slight stumble and he could never get any mechanic to find the cause of the stumble.

Once back home I took it to my mechanic and he pinpointed the issue. The cam sensor was installed one tooth off. Since the car was a one owner it probably happened on the assembly line. Once he repositioned the cam sensor the stumble disappeared. Car was very nice and slightly unusual being black exterior with a tan interior. Most black T-Types and Turbo-Ts usually had grey interiors. I even bought one that had a burgundy interior.

I put the T-Type up for sale in monthly Grand News. Back then it was written and mailed every month. A local guy contacts me about buying the car. He is a mechanic at a garage in northeast Philadelphia. He buys my 350 page book first.

He ends up buying the 1986 T-Type probably because it is so original and being a Georgia car looks better underneath than most you would find in the Philadelphia area. He tells me of a strange coincidence at work. He says he was reading my book at lunch at work. His boss walked by and saw the name Kirban on the cover. Turns out his boss was buying my parents house where I grew up! What a small world.

1987 GRAND NATIONAL T-TOPS WITH 7,700 ACTUAL MILES FOR SALE -

We got a substantial deposit on the car two days ago. The buyer will be sending an enclosed transport company to get it. Car will be going to the Chicago area to a customer of ours that has several of these cars.

URGENT REQUEST -

We need good used 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering wheel cores! To see if your core is acceptable email me [email protected] a photo prior to sending it for $100 credit. Help us help others restore their cars. We have an urgent need for good steering wheel cores.

WORKING ON A FEW IDEAS UPDATE -

I just got a price on the one product. This is a product we used to sell in the early 1990s. We plan to bring it back. It fits virtually every 1984-1987 Turbo Regal. I currently have this one product getting made by a local company. We expect to have this part in about 3-4 weeks time.

TIPS AND IDEAS YOU HAVE TRIED -

CASTLE PERFORMANCE OPEN HOUSE -
October 1st - 4th, 2020
9000 Ogden Avenue, Brookfield, IL 60513
Register now. Call 708-854-6060 Food provided Thursday through Saturday. Including a pig roast on Saturday. Vendors set up every day selling parts. Car Show is Saturday and Sunday its race day at the local track! Four days of activities! Paul has asked us to provide him with 2 M&M contests.

I sent Paul last week 2 different M&M contests with a prize for the winner. In case of tie I think he said that the second person would get to make the next 12 monthly mortgage payments on his building.

With Castle Performance having a 4 day event I told him having done many Reunion and Open House events it's critical to keep participants engaged over the 4 day period. Here are some of the ideas I sent him.

One contest is to pick 5 or more Turbo Regals at random and place a white poster board under the engine and for a set period of time to see which car leaves the smallest oil stain and which car leaves the biggest oil stain.

Have each participant open their hood. See how many owners have the hood struts installed backwards. I would usually find 1-2 owners that did this at various car shows. Seems hard to do when all you have to do is look at the opposite side when replacing the one side.

Find a Turbo Regal that has the jack and spare in the trunk the proper way. Have the owner remove it and see what contestants can reinstall it correctly and quickest!

Turbo Regals with the powermaster unit see which one has the fluid that closest resembles the color of Pepsi or Coca-cola. They would win the prize for the dirtiest brake fluid. Also conduct a contest to see which powermaster has the freshest brake fluid in it.

Locate a Turbo Regal that still has the original plain black brake bowl and seek out a volunteer to stand in front of the car as they do brake tests! This may be hard to get any participants to do! You might have to get a stranger off the street for this test.

Everyone is always concerned who has the quickest Turbo Regal which can be determined Sunday at the race track. Conduct one to see who has the slowest driver's side power window.

Another contest would be to take a solo cup and place a few ounces of water on it. Set it on the upper plenum of any 1986 or 1987 Turbo Regal and have the participant start their car to see which car idles the longest before the cup falls off the plenum. No two Turbo Regals ever seem to idle the same.

Have everyone open their hood and see which car has the biggest hole in the hood pad due to the clamps on the up pipe being not aligned properly!

Award the rarest 1986 T-Type that shows up. One car that would take this prize is if someone shows up with either the tan or grey leather seats. Very very few were produced in 1986.

For a 1987 Turbo-T winner see if someone shows up with a black Turbo-T with the black out package. Buick only produced them for a short time in the Fall because of the WE4. Should none show up a sage green or tan original exterior paint would take the prize.

For a Grand National winner see if someone shows up with one that lacks tilt column, has crank windows, and just the am/fm radio no cassette. Less options translates into less issues.

The participants that come Thursday have them write down their guess how many Turbo Regals will show up Friday with a busted power antenna.

See if any two Turbo Regals have the jacking directions decal in the same identical spot.

This is just a few ideas for entertainment and poking fun at a car we all love even if most of your time is spent working on them.

I have forwarded this list of ideas to Paul Castle; he may just do a few of these contests so be prepared.

Good news - We now accept Classified Ads in our weekly Inner Circle emails. Over the years several customers have asked about placing an ad in our weekly Inner Circle.

Here are the options and the costs.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US –

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
SCANMASTER STEERING COLUMN BRACKET

Here is a simple way to mount the Scanmaster, part #6783, so it is in your direct sight.

The bracket attaches by velcro, which comes with it.

We used to sell a similar steering column bracket years ago until our source stopped making them.

We now have a new supplier who makes it in a high-quality acrylic plastic. It is then painted in the Turbo Regal grey, so it will match most Turbo Regal steering columns.

An excellent way to mount a Scanmaster.

7915 - 1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal - Scanmaster Steering Column Bracket - $34.95

CLICK HERE - For the link to the bracket on our website.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
REPRODUCTION VACUUM BRAKE PEDAL

We now offer this reproduction vacuum brake pedal. The difference between the vacuum brake pedal and a Turbo Regal pedal is the location of the pin that the rod goes to that comes through the firewall. The vacuum brake pedal makes the installation easier. Without the vacuum brake pedal, you would need to weld a new pin in a different location on the original Turbo Regal brake pedal.

Finding a good used vacuum brake pedal has become more difficult as time passes. Because many Turbo Regal owners are converting to vacuum brakes, the demand has been heavy.

This reproduction pedal has solved that issue of using a 30-plus-year-old rusted vacuum brake pedal.

NOTE - You need to re-use the original bolt and bushings to secure the pedal to the bracket under the dash. The pedal is bare metal and will require painting.

7916 - 1986-1987 Buick Regal - Reproduction Vacuum Brake Pedal - $99.95

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -

These lines are stainless steel and made by the same company where we buy our brake and fuel line kits. The quality is excellent.

If you ever had the transmission rebuilt, you know what it’s like to rebend old transmission lines to make them fit.

Kit consists of the 4 lines as pictured.

These are manufactured in the USA using the best materials.

The same source that makes our translator bracket has made this one-piece aluminum 1/8" gauge aluminum bracket for us.

It is compatible with #7607 Dual Fan Conversion Kit and Custom-made Plug-and-Play Harness and #7608 Dual Fan Only we sell.

This bracket requires no holes to be drilled in the core support or the dual fan kit.

The end result is the dual fan setup will sit flush against the radiator. The bracket secures the dual fan at the bottom of the core support. It is barely visible.

Each bracket comes with detailed directions. You do have to trim all 4 mounting tabs on the dual fan unit.

NOTE - You may also be interested in these related parts - #7607 Dual Fan Conversion Kit and Custom-made Plug-and-Play Harness, #7608 Dual Fan Only, and #7609 Custom-made Plug-and-Play Harness Only (for Intrepid Dual Fan).

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me directly - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

IN CLOSING - With Halloween coming next month we will be doing a special M&M contest. Remember if you have any NOS or used parts you are not planning on using why not cash them in with parts you need from our company? Simply email me [email protected] a picture and price you are seeking.
