HYDRATECH HYDRO-BOOST CONVERSION KIT UPDATE -
We recently sold one of these new Hydratech Hydro-Boost conversion kits to a local customer. He had lined up the same shop that works on all our personal cars to do the installation. This was the very first hydro-boost system they had installed. Taking their time, it took about four hours to complete the installation. It’s critical to take your time and route the pressure lines properly before cutting them to the desired length. Remember that saying… measure twice, cut once!
The Hydratech hydro-boost unit fits in against the firewall very nicely and does not look out of place. It has plenty of clearance by the remote power steering reservoir.
Our customer painted the master cylinder using brake caliper paint, which should hold up against any brake fluid spills and eliminate any chance of it getting rusty.

THE HOT ROD LOOK OR RAT ROD LOOK -
In recent years what has become known as the “Hot Rod” look or “Rat Rod” look is to totally black out the car, including the wheels to be either flat black or satin black.
For the most part, this is a fairly recent trend. In the early 1980s, I had our two GTOs painted flat black.
Mine was a 1964 that I had built up from a roller that was gutted with no drive train no interior. Eileen’s was a well-optioned 1968 GTO that very bad original paint. I had it painted in flat black, figuring I would have it re-painted later. Her license plate read “PEN INK” and mine read “A MOVER.”
PHOTO 2 - The top photo shows my 1964 GTO, which was basically a test bed for many of our GTO parts we had made back in the day. I took this photo under a local Pontiac dealership sign that had closed its doors in the mid-1980s. The bottom photo shows my wife’s 1968 GTO on our driveway at our old house. It had tilt column Hurst dual gate, hidden headlights, padded roof, as well as several more desirable options. I don’t recall what we paid for it. I actually got my 1964 free when I bought a ram air 1969 Judge from a guy. The 1964 GTO was sitting in the woods behind his house.
PHOTO 3 - Recently we had a customer come over to our shop. He had just bought a 1986 Turbo Regal, which is actually a Grand National from all appearances. The previous owner had a very nice paint job applied and had the factory Grand National steel chrome rims powder-coated black. This is a photo of one of the Grand National wheels powder-coated black.
MORE MEMORIES FROM YEARS GONE BY -
The year was 2002. I only sold 19 Turbo Regals that year, of which 9 had under 16,000 original miles. The lowest had a mere 2,300 miles on it. One of the interesting ones was a 22,000-mile WE4 hardtop. It had a very high-quality repaint done, garage kept, and was well optioned. This car still had the original tires on it. We sold the car in a just 7 days for $13,600. Today that car would have sold at that price within seconds!
PHOTO 4 - I would always try and remember to take a photo of the cars I would buy where I picked it up. This owner was not even home. If I recall, his wife showed me the car and I pulled it out of the garage to load it up. As you can see in the background, he still had a few other “toys” to choose from. I think the WE4 was in a garage bay across from this row of garage bays. Here is a copy of the flyer we did on the car.
MORE NEWS ON THE NEW MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER -
As you read this because of the overwhelming interest, we have two shipments of the Multi-function Jump Starters due in shortly and a third shipment ordered - all coming in by UPS air.

I went back to the salvage yard where I did the initial testing on the dead black 1986 Regal. Even though he has two of more expensive chargers, he has an order to buy two of ours. He plans to sell them to his customers.
I then drove over to another salvage yard that also sells used cars. While I waiting to talk to the owner, I explained the product to four people in the main office. One person had a similar unit and had paid $139 for his. Two other people (one was a tow truck driver) found it very hard to believe that something the size of a smart phone could start a car or truck. While I was explaining what it could do, a woman and her son came in and wanted to test drive a car that was for sale on the lot. The car was a 2005-2007 Mustang six-cylinder convertible.
The sales guy gave them the keys and they went out to look over the car. As luck would have it, the car did not start since the battery was weak. The sales guy came in to get his jumper box and says to me, “Let’s see what your little box can do.” I said I would take the challenge. Naturally everyone follows me out of the building. Of course the lady and her son have no idea why five people are coming over to jump start the car they were looking at.
I attached the two cables to the car battery and plugged the other end into the module that I held in my hand. For a brief moment I felt like saying a few magic words over the battery but decided to remain serious! The Mustang fired right up. The tow truck driver instantly said, “I have to have one.” The sales guy said he wanted one and was sure his boss would buy one as well. My timing was perfect.
I have learned that the company I am dealing with makes the actual battery pack. It’s good to know they make the main component. A CORRECTION ON THE FEED BACK ON OUR DUAL FAN KIT -
We have a correction on last week’s feedback on our dual fan kit.
After follow-up conversation with Tim Myers, we found out that he did not buy his radiator from Gbodyparts.com, but bought it from another source.
Gbodyparts’ radiator has had nothing but good reviews on its cooling ability.
We apologize for the error.
HOW DO THEY REALLY KNOW FOR SURE -
How do they really know for sure when you read, “A man was attacked by 40,000 bees after falling out of a tree.” or, “A swarm of 50,000 bees were found in the ceiling of a woman’s apartment in New York.”
Really? When they call for help, is there one person who comes with the sole purpose to count the number of bees? If so, it’s not a job I would want.
I still remember an incident back in my towing days of picking up a junk car that was parked on the edge of wooded lot. I hooked up the car and didn’t give it much attention, but saw a few yellow jackets going in and around the car. Before I knew it, I must have disturbed their nest and got bit several times before I was able to get back into my truck. The nest must have been under the moist ground near where I had hooked up the car. Fortunately I did not have a bad reaction to the several stings I got.
STOCK HEADER REPLACEMENT UPDATE -
Unfortunately, we don’t expect to have any Stock Replacement Driver’s Side and Passenger’s Side Complete 409 Stainless Steel Headers Kits, part #7274, available until mid-October, according to TA Performance.
If you want a set, it’s best to call our office and get on the list because of the delays with this run. We expect to sell out quickly after filling existing orders. We would not charge your credit card until we know they are being shipped.

1984 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL FOR SALE -
This is a local car for sale and is on our website complete with photos. It has had the same owner since 1985. It has always been stored every winter. Actual miles is 83,300. 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
304 STAINLESS STEEL ONE-PIECE 3″ DOWN PIPE &
CUSTOM ALUMINIZED TEST PIPE KIT
This one-piece 3 inchdown pipe will work with any factory-style exhaust Turbo housing. You have to remove the exhaust elbow so this will bolt up to the turbo exhaust housing.
It has an internal wastegate and, unlike most of the other one-piece 3″ down pipes, the internal wastegate is serviceable if needed. You have to modify the side of the turbo shield if you plan to re-use the stock turbo shield. This 3″ down pipe does have a threaded port on it to accept an air sensor or O2 sensor if needed. A plug is included if you do not have to use this port.
This 3" one piece 304 stainless steel down pipe is mandrel bent and will clear the stock inner fender and firewall. Because of the age of these cars it is recommended you have fairly new motor mounts and transmission mount so clearances stay consistent. This down pipe is slightly longer than the stock down pipe, so you have to use the custom 12″ aluminized test pipe that comes in this kit. The test pipe has the correct 4 bolt flange on it to bolt up to the factory style Y pipe. You will not be able to use a catalytic converter unless you find one that has a 3" diameter opening and is only 12″ long.
Kit comes with hardware to secure the down pipe to the Turbo. No gaskets are required.
Gains on a typical stock application in a quarter mile with no other changes are 2-3 mph and 2/10ths in a quarter mile.
This basic design has been popular for many years. This is the latest version.

DUAL FAN CONVERSION KIT and
CUSTOM-MADE PLUG-AND-PLAY HARNESS
We offer three options to upgrade the factory single electric fan on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal to a dual fan format. Each fan has a 12" diameter sweep. There are no clearance issues between the radiator and the factory intercooler shroud. The unit is 3-1/2" deep. The overall width of the unit is 26" and the length is 16".
The complete kit includes a brand new Intrepid dual fan and a custom-made plug-and-play harness. This harness is specific to the Intrepid dual fan.
One of the beneficial upgrades to make to provide better cooling is to install a dual fan set up to replace the 25+-year-old single electric fan. The factory Buick fan relay cannot safely sustain the full load of dual electric fans. That is why it’s advisable to install a supplemental relay system.
This custom-made plug-and-play harness is specially designed to make the conversion easy. This plug-and-play harness consists of two sealed relays. The relays are both energized by the factory fan relay in your car, reducing the circuit load on the factory relay and permitting full coolant fan control without the risk of overload. The fans are both powered at high speed when cooling is commanded via factory low speed coolant fan control through the ECM. This system assures proper load through the relays with proper power distribution.
This kit plugs into the factory fan connector, unlike other harnesses that require you to cut off the factory connector. The factory connector is entirely reliable and should not be cut.
The plug-and-play harness is made in the U.S.A. and comes with easy-to-follow directions with photos.
We offer 3 options. The first option is for the entire conversion kit, which includes a new Dodge Intrepid dual fan kit and the special custom-made plug-and-play harness. The second option is for the dual fan only. The last option is just for the custom-made plug-and-play harness.
NOTE - We recommend installation be done by a qualified mechanic.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You have to custom make brackets to mount the dual fan housing so you can secure this to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal radiator core support at the top and bottom. You also have to cut off the original mounting tabs on the side of this dual fan housing since they do not get used. There is a link on the Turbo Buick forum with photos that shows what you have to do. Basically you have to cut off the 2 plastic mounting tabs on both sides of the housing and fabricate some small piece of angle iron to secure it to the original top brackets and the bracket at the bottom of the core support.
This dual fan set up is for a Dodge Intrepid and is the one that most 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owners have used for this modification. It is also the one that will plug into the custom-made plug-and-play harness we offer. Be sure to click on the link below so you fully understand what you need to do to modify the dual fan housing to attach to the radiator bracket and core support.

We will conduct a demonstration of the Multi-Function Jump Starter kit. I will bring to the event the dead battery that has been in the Regal at our house since 2010. I will install it in our 1987 Turbo-T at our event and you will be able to see for yourself a simple battery pack weighing less than 9 ounces will crank our Turbo Regal. Seeing is believing! No smoking mirrors, no magic words said over it, and no hidden back up battery in the trunk. The real deal.

Ron Joseph informs me that the dates for the 2014 GS Nationals are October 15th thru 18th. The intent to move it to September has been shelved at least for a year, according to Ron. This year ALL vehicles are welcome to participate and have some fun, prizes will be given away and sponsors will be there!

IN CLOSING -

HYDRATECH HYDRO-BOOST CONVERSION KIT UPDATE -
We recently sold one of these new Hydratech Hydro-Boost conversion kits to a local customer. He had lined up the same shop that works on all our personal cars to do the installation. This was the very first hydro-boost system they had installed. Taking their time, it took about four hours to complete the installation. It’s critical to take your time and route the pressure lines properly before cutting them to the desired length. Remember that saying… measure twice, cut once!
The Hydratech hydro-boost unit fits in against the firewall very nicely and does not look out of place. It has plenty of clearance by the remote power steering reservoir.
Our customer painted the master cylinder using brake caliper paint, which should hold up against any brake fluid spills and eliminate any chance of it getting rusty.

The lower left and lower right photos show the completed kit with all the pressure and return line installed. You can see how it sits under the hood and how much clearance the unit has related to the remote power steering reservoir.
THE HOT ROD LOOK OR RAT ROD LOOK -
In recent years what has become known as the “Hot Rod” look or “Rat Rod” look is to totally black out the car, including the wheels to be either flat black or satin black.
For the most part, this is a fairly recent trend. In the early 1980s, I had our two GTOs painted flat black.
Mine was a 1964 that I had built up from a roller that was gutted with no drive train no interior. Eileen’s was a well-optioned 1968 GTO that very bad original paint. I had it painted in flat black, figuring I would have it re-painted later. Her license plate read “PEN INK” and mine read “A MOVER.”
PHOTO 2 - The top photo shows my 1964 GTO, which was basically a test bed for many of our GTO parts we had made back in the day. I took this photo under a local Pontiac dealership sign that had closed its doors in the mid-1980s. The bottom photo shows my wife’s 1968 GTO on our driveway at our old house. It had tilt column Hurst dual gate, hidden headlights, padded roof, as well as several more desirable options. I don’t recall what we paid for it. I actually got my 1964 free when I bought a ram air 1969 Judge from a guy. The 1964 GTO was sitting in the woods behind his house.
PHOTO 3 - Recently we had a customer come over to our shop. He had just bought a 1986 Turbo Regal, which is actually a Grand National from all appearances. The previous owner had a very nice paint job applied and had the factory Grand National steel chrome rims powder-coated black. This is a photo of one of the Grand National wheels powder-coated black.
MORE MEMORIES FROM YEARS GONE BY -
The year was 2002. I only sold 19 Turbo Regals that year, of which 9 had under 16,000 original miles. The lowest had a mere 2,300 miles on it. One of the interesting ones was a 22,000-mile WE4 hardtop. It had a very high-quality repaint done, garage kept, and was well optioned. This car still had the original tires on it. We sold the car in a just 7 days for $13,600. Today that car would have sold at that price within seconds!
PHOTO 4 - I would always try and remember to take a photo of the cars I would buy where I picked it up. This owner was not even home. If I recall, his wife showed me the car and I pulled it out of the garage to load it up. As you can see in the background, he still had a few other “toys” to choose from. I think the WE4 was in a garage bay across from this row of garage bays. Here is a copy of the flyer we did on the car.
MORE NEWS ON THE NEW MULTI-FUNCTION JUMP STARTER -
As you read this because of the overwhelming interest, we have two shipments of the Multi-function Jump Starters due in shortly and a third shipment ordered - all coming in by UPS air.

I went back to the salvage yard where I did the initial testing on the dead black 1986 Regal. Even though he has two of more expensive chargers, he has an order to buy two of ours. He plans to sell them to his customers.
I then drove over to another salvage yard that also sells used cars. While I waiting to talk to the owner, I explained the product to four people in the main office. One person had a similar unit and had paid $139 for his. Two other people (one was a tow truck driver) found it very hard to believe that something the size of a smart phone could start a car or truck. While I was explaining what it could do, a woman and her son came in and wanted to test drive a car that was for sale on the lot. The car was a 2005-2007 Mustang six-cylinder convertible.
The sales guy gave them the keys and they went out to look over the car. As luck would have it, the car did not start since the battery was weak. The sales guy came in to get his jumper box and says to me, “Let’s see what your little box can do.” I said I would take the challenge. Naturally everyone follows me out of the building. Of course the lady and her son have no idea why five people are coming over to jump start the car they were looking at.
I attached the two cables to the car battery and plugged the other end into the module that I held in my hand. For a brief moment I felt like saying a few magic words over the battery but decided to remain serious! The Mustang fired right up. The tow truck driver instantly said, “I have to have one.” The sales guy said he wanted one and was sure his boss would buy one as well. My timing was perfect.
I have learned that the company I am dealing with makes the actual battery pack. It’s good to know they make the main component. A CORRECTION ON THE FEED BACK ON OUR DUAL FAN KIT -
We have a correction on last week’s feedback on our dual fan kit.
After follow-up conversation with Tim Myers, we found out that he did not buy his radiator from Gbodyparts.com, but bought it from another source.
Gbodyparts’ radiator has had nothing but good reviews on its cooling ability.

HOW DO THEY REALLY KNOW FOR SURE -
How do they really know for sure when you read, “A man was attacked by 40,000 bees after falling out of a tree.” or, “A swarm of 50,000 bees were found in the ceiling of a woman’s apartment in New York.”
Really? When they call for help, is there one person who comes with the sole purpose to count the number of bees? If so, it’s not a job I would want.
I still remember an incident back in my towing days of picking up a junk car that was parked on the edge of wooded lot. I hooked up the car and didn’t give it much attention, but saw a few yellow jackets going in and around the car. Before I knew it, I must have disturbed their nest and got bit several times before I was able to get back into my truck. The nest must have been under the moist ground near where I had hooked up the car. Fortunately I did not have a bad reaction to the several stings I got.
STOCK HEADER REPLACEMENT UPDATE -
Unfortunately, we don’t expect to have any Stock Replacement Driver’s Side and Passenger’s Side Complete 409 Stainless Steel Headers Kits, part #7274, available until mid-October, according to TA Performance.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
304 STAINLESS STEEL ONE-PIECE 3″ DOWN PIPE &
CUSTOM ALUMINIZED TEST PIPE KIT
This one-piece 3 inchdown pipe will work with any factory-style exhaust Turbo housing. You have to remove the exhaust elbow so this will bolt up to the turbo exhaust housing.
It has an internal wastegate and, unlike most of the other one-piece 3″ down pipes, the internal wastegate is serviceable if needed. You have to modify the side of the turbo shield if you plan to re-use the stock turbo shield. This 3″ down pipe does have a threaded port on it to accept an air sensor or O2 sensor if needed. A plug is included if you do not have to use this port.
This 3" one piece 304 stainless steel down pipe is mandrel bent and will clear the stock inner fender and firewall. Because of the age of these cars it is recommended you have fairly new motor mounts and transmission mount so clearances stay consistent. This down pipe is slightly longer than the stock down pipe, so you have to use the custom 12″ aluminized test pipe that comes in this kit. The test pipe has the correct 4 bolt flange on it to bolt up to the factory style Y pipe. You will not be able to use a catalytic converter unless you find one that has a 3" diameter opening and is only 12″ long.
Kit comes with hardware to secure the down pipe to the Turbo. No gaskets are required.
Gains on a typical stock application in a quarter mile with no other changes are 2-3 mph and 2/10ths in a quarter mile.
This basic design has been popular for many years. This is the latest version.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
DUAL FAN CONVERSION KIT and
CUSTOM-MADE PLUG-AND-PLAY HARNESS
We offer three options to upgrade the factory single electric fan on a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal to a dual fan format. Each fan has a 12" diameter sweep. There are no clearance issues between the radiator and the factory intercooler shroud. The unit is 3-1/2" deep. The overall width of the unit is 26" and the length is 16".
The complete kit includes a brand new Intrepid dual fan and a custom-made plug-and-play harness. This harness is specific to the Intrepid dual fan.
One of the beneficial upgrades to make to provide better cooling is to install a dual fan set up to replace the 25+-year-old single electric fan. The factory Buick fan relay cannot safely sustain the full load of dual electric fans. That is why it’s advisable to install a supplemental relay system.
This custom-made plug-and-play harness is specially designed to make the conversion easy. This plug-and-play harness consists of two sealed relays. The relays are both energized by the factory fan relay in your car, reducing the circuit load on the factory relay and permitting full coolant fan control without the risk of overload. The fans are both powered at high speed when cooling is commanded via factory low speed coolant fan control through the ECM. This system assures proper load through the relays with proper power distribution.
This kit plugs into the factory fan connector, unlike other harnesses that require you to cut off the factory connector. The factory connector is entirely reliable and should not be cut.
The plug-and-play harness is made in the U.S.A. and comes with easy-to-follow directions with photos.
We offer 3 options. The first option is for the entire conversion kit, which includes a new Dodge Intrepid dual fan kit and the special custom-made plug-and-play harness. The second option is for the dual fan only. The last option is just for the custom-made plug-and-play harness.
NOTE - We recommend installation be done by a qualified mechanic.
IMPORTANT NOTE - You have to custom make brackets to mount the dual fan housing so you can secure this to the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal radiator core support at the top and bottom. You also have to cut off the original mounting tabs on the side of this dual fan housing since they do not get used. There is a link on the Turbo Buick forum with photos that shows what you have to do. Basically you have to cut off the 2 plastic mounting tabs on both sides of the housing and fabricate some small piece of angle iron to secure it to the original top brackets and the bracket at the bottom of the core support.
This dual fan set up is for a Dodge Intrepid and is the one that most 1986-1987 Turbo Regal owners have used for this modification. It is also the one that will plug into the custom-made plug-and-play harness we offer. Be sure to click on the link below so you fully understand what you need to do to modify the dual fan housing to attach to the radiator bracket and core support.

18th ANNUAL EAST COAST BUICK REGIONALS -
FRIDAY & SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 19 & 20, 2014 -
Cecil County Dragway, Maryland
The location is Cecil County Dragway near North East, Maryland. The dates are September 19th and 20th. Friday is Test and Tune. Saturday is Buick race day and a judged All-Buick Powered Car Show. KIRBAN PERFORMANCE FALL OCTOBERFEST OPEN HOUSE -
SATURDAY - OCTOBER 4, 2014 - 2014 - RAIN or SHINE - 9 am until 3 pm.
We will have our usual program, including a freshly prepared lunch by chef Russ and Nancy doing all the cooking with some special desserts. Our usual M & M contest, a no reserve auction, Free Yum Yums donuts in the AM with coffee. Special sale prices and new products will be on display.
CONFIRMED VENDORS & GUESTS - Pete Hoffman will have parts for sale, and I will also have used parts for sale (known as the "tagged and bagged" sale items). Coming again is Bruce Shaw - a lawyer and accountant specializing in Collector Car Fraud. Terry Shaw specializes in collector car appraisals and insurance claims, and he will also be there. Both Terry Shaw and Bruce Shaw will be doing seminars. So be sure to put this event on your calendar.
Spoolfool has donated one of his one-piece rear fillers for our “NO RESERVE” auction. We will have several close out items at our No Reserve auction, as well as several other neat items as well.
We will conduct a demonstration of the Multi-Function Jump Starter kit. I will bring to the event the dead battery that has been in the Regal at our house since 2010. I will install it in our 1987 Turbo-T at our event and you will be able to see for yourself a simple battery pack weighing less than 9 ounces will crank our Turbo Regal. Seeing is believing! No smoking mirrors, no magic words said over it, and no hidden back up battery in the trunk. The real deal.
LODGING IN THE GENERAL AREA - Quakertown is about 25 minutes west of our warehouse location and the newest motels are by Route 663 and the exit for Quakertown off the northeast extension of the turnpike Route 476.

34th ANNUAL GS NATIONALS - OCTOBER 15-18, 2014 -
Beech Bend Raceway, 798 Beech Bend Road, Bowling Green, Kentucky
Ron Joseph informs me that the dates for the 2014 GS Nationals are October 15th thru 18th. The intent to move it to September has been shelved at least for a year, according to Ron. We will share more info as it becomes available. Also for the first time ever there will be an auto cross open to all cars October 15th and 16th. 2014. This year ALL vehicles are welcome to participate and have some fun, prizes will be given away and sponsors will be there!

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -
We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.
When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.
Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
