NEW MINI CONTEST -

This new mini contest is based on the upcoming Mecum Auction being held October 8th thru 10th, 2015 in Chicago.

There is a GNX listed with just 16 actual miles at this auction. It’s been stored in a heated garage. It’s a one-owner car, and includes the numbered GNX book and matching GNX jacket. It also includes a copy of the MSO and the ASC Window Sticker is still attached to the window.

In other words, a reportedly perfect example of a brand new 1987 GNX in the year 2015 with the jacket, Window Sticker, and numbered book.

Here is the link for the GNX on Mecums website:
https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/CH1015-229466/0/1987-Buick-GNX/Automatic/

I want to hear your guess as to what you think this 16-mile original GNX sells for at the auction.

Here are the rules:

You must email me personally - [email protected]

You only get one guess.

You can’t work or own any Buick-related company.

The guess must be the closest UNDER the actual posted selling price.

If the GNX has a reserve and fails to meet the reserve, our contest would be based on the highest noted bid.

In the case of a tie, the earliest email is the first place winner and second one becomes the second place winner.

We have a very unique gift for the winners of this contest that I had custom made. You will also get our GNX license plate… If you go view the 16-mile GNX for sale, you’ll notice it also has the same license plate on the back of the car. Our company was the first company to make this license plate many years ago.

The same two prizes will be awarded for both first and second place.

The deadline to submit your single guess by email to me is Friday, October 2nd, 2015, 12 midnight eastern time. No entries will be accepted after that time.

The winners will be announced in the following week’s Inner Circle.

One of our good friends, Jason from Canada plans to attend this auction and give me a full report on this 16-mile original GNX. Maybe he can package up some of that 1987 air and ship it to me so we can market it!

REPORT FROM THE EAST COAST BUICK REGIONALS -

I went to the East Coast Buick Regionals last weekend. The weather was picture perfect, which is a key ingredient for a successful car show event. The Cecil County Dragway is also a perfect location, just off Route 95 in Maryland. There was a good showing of the older GS models as well as Turbo Regals. There was at least one GNX from Canada and several GSXs in attendance.

In these first photos we show some of the modifications that owners have done to their Turbo Regals. Photos 1 through 3 are from the East Coast Buick Regionals.

Photo 4 is from the 16th Annual Pontiac Buick Oldsmobile Car Show, which I attended on Sunday.

PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows the Hurst Lightning Rod shifters in a Turbo Regal. The top right photo shows the ATR 7th injector system that ATR sold many years ago. The lower left photo shows a pair of speakers that have been installed in an original door panel. The lower right photo shows how some owners would increase fuel pressure in the early 1990s by crushing the fuel regulator. Unfortunately, this modification was a one-way mod only!

PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows the unique trophies that were awarded at the end of the car show portion. One of the most unique car display signs can be seen in the top right photo. The owner took a damaged original Turbo hood and cut it down and painted it. He then had the information about his car put on the hood. He even went so far as to put a set of the reproduction hood emblems on it that he bought from us. A friend of his made the wooden frame and stand for the hood. It was a real eye catcher! The bottom left photo shows the power six logo embroidered into the factory grey headrest in a Turbo-T. The bottom right photo shows a T-Type wheel where the owner used black lug nuts instead of the factory stainless ones.

PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows a really rare sight - an original black accumulator brake bowl and a black brake switch. This was on a mint 1987 Turbo-T Limited that had less than 13,000 actual miles. The owner was getting the switch replaced by GM next week. The top right photo shows the mint grey leather interior in this burgundy Turbo-T Limited. The lower left photo shows one of the highly-modified Turbo engines. The lower right photo shows a super mint GMC Syclone that was also at the show.

16th ANNUAL PONTIAC, BUICK, OLDSMOBILE CAR SHOW -

This 16th Annual Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile Car show had that key ingredient - picture perfect weather. I actually drove our Turbo-T to this event.

I got to see many of my old-time friends from our involvement with the GTOs over the many years. There was a G-body Pontiac Grand Prix in the show that would easily qualify as a sleeper. This car had the total look as being a stock looking regular Pontiac Grand Prix on the outside, even down to the stock Pontiac ralley wheels. Under the hood lies the surprise - a complete power train from a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal. Even the exhaust with the crossflow muffler was stock appearing.

PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows the Grand Prix, which appears all stock on the exterior. The top right photo shows the engine, which as you can see is a Turbo Regal power plant. The car only had two small exterior clues as to what was under the hood. A small T-Type emblem in the front grille and positioned in the factory medallion in the stock taillights was a small power six emblem. I did look under the car and it appeared to also be equipped with the 8.5 rear, complete with the rear sway bar. This car was a great example of a sleeper! There was even a 6,000-mile Grand National at this event. The lower left photo shows the speedometer of this low-mileage (6,927 miles) Grand National. The bottom right photo shows the actual car. This car was mint.

KIRBAN PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS - FALL OPEN HOUSE -

We won’t be having a Fall Open House this year, but will plan a Spring Open House next year.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER -

Here go some more sayings:

Never volunteer to stand at a point referred to as “Ground Zero.”

Every two minutes of every day a new use of duct tape is discovered.

Replacing any engine valve cover gasket in a late-model engine will cost $6 to $12 for the gasket kit and $50 labor to do the job.

If you travel, no matter what motel you stay at, the bar of soap will be packaged better than anything you ever get from UPS.

SPECIAL LIMITED SALE -

Currently we are overstocked with our fiberglass front and rear bumpers. Part #1507 is the front bumper and #1532 is the rear bumper. The retail is normally $190 each. However, if you purchase both the front and rear at the same time, your cost would be $365. You would save $15 by purchasing both. These are for off road use only.

LIGHTED REARVIEW MIRRORS -

We sold all we took to the East Coast Buick Regionals this past Saturday. However I did still have some at home, which are featured in the Rare Parts section of this Inner Circle. You must subscribe to the Turbo Regal Inner Circle in order to see the rare parts section. That gets emailed direct to subscribers FREE and it is also posted on our website every Wednesday. Remember, this weekly Inner Circle emailed newsletter is free!

BREAKING NEWS - 1987 GRAND NATIONAL WITH ONLY 49 MILES - FOR SALE -

Here is a chance to own a basically brand new 1987 Grand National in 2015.

The car is very well optioned including T-Tops. It has never been dealer prepped. All the stickers are still on the car, including the Window Sticker. All the protective plastic is still intact in the interior. You can probably still smell the 1987 air inside the car!

The built date is 10/87 and is one of the last cars titled as a Grand National rather than being titled as a Regal. Even the foam brick is still attached to the front bumper.

The miles stands at 00049 - translation 49 actual miles. Even the original fuel is probably still in the gas tank.

We have been hired as the agent for the owners. Car is being sold to settle an estate. The Grand National is located in Texas. The price is $69,990.

If you are interested, email me for more information and photos - [email protected]

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -

1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
UPPER DASH DUAL CONE SPEAKERS (2) SET

One of the toughest replacement speakers to find are the small ones that go in the upper dash corners. The speaker size is 3-1/2 inches.

Because of the age of these cars, the original speakers may be cracked from the heat or age.
We offer these new 3-1/2" diameter replacement dual cone speakers.

They have been tested by Richard Clark and are an excellent replacement speaker. These are a 2-way Performance Series Dual Cone Coaxial Car Speaker. You will have to modify one or both connectors on the plug end to attach the factory plug harness properly to these speakers. The plug end is basically the same, but the width is different from the original factory speakers.

If you have the Concert Sound II option in the doors, you need to order part #7689.

1984-1987 All G-Body Models (Including Buick Turbo Regal)
RADIO/CASSETTE BUTTONS
REPRODUCTION ALUMINUM ID INSERTS (3) SET -

If you have the optional factory Delco am/fm radio with cassette, as pictured, you may be missing one of the ID inserts on one or more of the 3 buttons that control the cassette operation.

The original inserts can be totally missing or, in some cases, the words “STOP-EJECT” may be worn off.

We have reproduced the set of 3 button ID inserts in aluminum (like the originals,) each with a self-adhesive backing.

Inserts are easy to install. You simply clean and dry the button, peal back the protective paper, and affix the insert onto the button.

An excellent finishing touch for any interior restoration.

1978-1987 Buick V6 (including Turbo Regal) -
TIMING COVER GASKETS AND SEALS (7) KIT

This is the complete timing chain gasket kit for the original timing chain cover.

The original front seal from GM was a rope seal, which is subject to leakage.

This front seal included in this kit is a one-piece neoprene seal. Turbo applications need this better designed front seal because of the tremendous pressures the turbo engine builds up internally under boost.

This Timing Chain Gasket Kit consists of these 7 parts:
Front Oil Pan Gasket
Oil Pump Cover Gasket
Timing Cover Gasket
Timing Cover Seal
Fuel Pump Mounting Support Gasket
Water Pump Mounting Support Gasket
O-ring

NOTE - You may also be interested in these related parts - #6548 Neoprene Rear Main Seal, #6771 Cork Oil Pan Gasket, #7437 Reproduction Timing Chain Cover with New Timing Tab, #7500 Molded Rubber Oil Pan Gasket, #7683 CLOYES Street True Roller Timing Chain/Gear Set.

NOTE - We recommend these gaskets be installed by a qualified mechanic.

Another great under-the-hood restoration kit.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
