BREAKING NEWS LAST GRAND NATIONAL BUILT BOUND FOR AUCTION-
As long time readers know the last Grand National built was purchased by Bob Colvin a long time Buick dealership owner out of Louisiana. At the time he and his son witnessed the car being built. Many of the actual assembly workers signed the car under the hood. The car is well documented. At first he simply stored it in a building near his dealership. He then realized it would be better to store in a climate controlled building. He has kept this car all these years.
He convinced his wife to let him add an addition to their house to store the Grand National in. It has sat virtually in this room in his house since the early 1990s. To date it has under 30 actual miles on it. With the recent rise of Turbo Regal values, specifically Grand Nationals and GNXs, and the 50th Anniversary for the popular Barrett Jackson Auction held in January in Scottsdale Arizona, Bob is going to let Barrett Jackson auction off this iconic Grand National. This is the Holy Grail example for a Grand National. It is hard to imagine any other 1987 Grand National being worth more than this example. His wife after 30 plus years will now get the room back!
Over the years Bob has turned down over $200 grand for the car. Strictly my opinion but this example could fetch $250 to $325 grand as long as Barrett Jackson does some real heavy promotion! This will be one of the featured cars at the January auction. Whatever the outcome it will surely increase the value of all the remaining examples that have survived in their original condition. As the time draws closer we will have a contest with our Inner Circle members to see who can guess its actual hammered selling price. The closest under the actual hammered bid would be the winner. Watch for this contest sometime in December.

FOLLOW UP TO LAST WEEKS STORY ABOUT PAINTING I HAD DONE IN VIETNAM -
Eileen and Devyn have been cleaning out our basement and Eileen found the actual painting I had done of her when I was in Vietnam. She also found another oil painting I had done in Vietnam showing me in my Army uniform. I also had the same Vietnamese artist do one of the 1961 Corvette that I sold prior to entering my 3 year stint in the Army. Remarkably all 3 paintings are still in very good condition. I was in Vietnam in 1967 so they are now over 50 years old! Truly remarkable!
PHOTO 4 - I show all three canvas paintings. The one of me I show what I believe is the small picture the artist used to do the one of me. I also found the small black and white photo I had of my girlfriend, now my wife Eileen, that I gave the artist to create the painting of her from. This small black and white photo has been on my desk for many years and I carried it in my wallet in Vietnam. I can’t remember what they cost back then. I plan to hang them all side by side.

Here is the information on our credits for cores.
STEERING WHEEL CORES. Currently we need good 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering cores. They must be straight and not have rusted spokes. We will issue a Letter of Credit of $100 for each acceptable core. You must email me [email protected] a photo first to make sure the steering wheel is acceptable.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS. Currently, we are accepting powermaster brake units. We give a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. Or, we will pay $125 cash for each powermaster core. To avoid having your core not accepted, you MUST first email me a photo of the core you plan to send in - [email protected] - We will NOT accept any cores that have severe rust issues or have been disassembled. Core must have the brake switch and brake bowl reservoir. Too many of the cores we have been getting are in such terrible shape they are worthless to us.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $175 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. We need cores now. Or we will pay $150 cash for each complete stock turbo core.
BRAKE PEDALS we issue a letter of credit for $50 for each powermaster brake pedal or we will pay $40 cash for each pedal.
MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal sensors. They can not be cracked or broken. Each acceptable unit is worth a letter of credit of $40 each. We need cores now!

Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.

Reproduction FIBERGLASS FRONT & REAR BUMPERS
For the serious racer who wants every available advantage. These are made from the same bumper molds we used to sell over 35 years ago. My son did the prep work using the original bumpers on my 1987 Grand National.
These are for the serious racer and not designed for street use since they offer very little protection in case of an accident.
Both bumpers are done in black gelcoat and can be sanded and painted. The factory marker lights and bezels will fit the openings in the front bumper. Both molds were fully prepped and eliminated the rubber cushion completely. Both bumpers have a smooth front since the rubber cushion was completely eliminated. Both bumpers have fiberglass brackets on the back side that are slotted for adjustments to attach just like the original bumpers.
The fiberglass front bumper weighs just 8 pounds. The stock steel bumper with the reinforcement brace can weigh as much as 45 pounds depending on whether the reinforcement brace is steel or aluminum. You save 37 pounds.
The fiberglass rear bumper weighs less than 10 pounds. The stock steel rear bumper weighs as much as 45 pounds depending on whether it has a steel or aluminum reinforcement brace. You can shed as much as 35 pounds with this fiberglass rear bumper.

REBUILT ORIGINAL AC DELCO MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR
We are one of the very few sources to offer completely rebuilt original AC Delco mass air flow sensors for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. New mass air flow sensors have been discontinued from AC Delco for several years.
Other available rebuilt units are rebuilt using late-model Camaro mass air flow sensors, not rebuilt from original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal cores like these.
When comparing ours to the various reproductions, it’s important to note that the original one has the “AC Delco” logo embossed on the top cover, which is visible on the car. Others may not have that feature. We have highlighted the embossed logo area with a red arrow in our first photo.
Ours are 100% correct original mass air flow sensors with the proper plug, which came on the car originally.
Original parts will always be the top choice over any reproduction, especially for those wanting to keep their car original.
Sensor has the harness plug in the proper location and comes with a manufacturer’s 90-day Warranty.

1984-1987 Regal -
LOCK PILLAR REINFORCEMENT PLATES (2) IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY
This 2mm thick spacer is designed to give the door pin more support.
If you look at the area where the striker is attached, more than likely you will see hairline cracks. They are spot welds that hold a cage nut so you can attach the door striker. These spot welds tend to take the place of one of the 2mm spacers and at the same time give the door striker more support.
This lock pillar reinforcement plate is shaped to look as if it came on the car from the factory. The reinforcement plate measures approximately 4″ x 5″, comes powder-coated glossy black for a lasting finish (glossy black will blend with most dark colors doors and all the Grand Nationals), and are sold as a pair. Plates are easy to install.
It’s interesting to note that GM actually had a recall on another Buick model, the Somerset, back in 1985 for having a similar problem. Their solution at the time was similar to these reinforcement plates.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
AFTERMARKET EPA CERTIFIED LOW RESTRICTIVE STOCK CATALYTIC CONVERTER
Many owners may want to replace the original pancake-style restrictive catalytic converter. This is a unique catalytic converter with the proper custom-made 4-bolt flange at the back end. The overall length is 18 inches. This is a direct bolt in replacement and similar to the one we offered over 20 years ago. This only works with the stock 2-1/2 inch diameter downpipe.
It will bolt up to the stock exhaust or to the Pypes Dual Exhaust system, Part #6996, we sell.
Original catalytic converters can easily become clogged over a long period of time. They are also a lot more restrictive due to its pancake style. Some states have very strict laws regarding emissions equipment, even on older cars.
This catalytic converter also can lower any drone sound the current mufflers may make.
We offer this low restrictive catalytic converter, which weighs less than 8 pounds and is EPA certified! It is not a universal converter, but one with the correct 4-bolt flange on the one end that will directly bolt into your Turbo Regal.
With the amount of heat turbo cars develop, the converter can begin to break down internally and clog the exhaust system.
The EPA rules dictate that replacement catalytic converters must go in the same location as the original converter. This unit bolts into that same area and has the same mounting flange.
This catalytic converter comes complete with the 4-bolt exhaust flange. This 4-bolt flange is very unique to these cars as no other G-body application has this style flange. We also offer the 4-bolt flange, Part #7947, by itself for those of you that may want to get a test pipe made for off road use only.

He then realized it would be better to store in a climate controlled building. He has kept this car all these years.
He convinced his wife to let him add an addition to their house to store the Grand National in. It has sat virtually in this room in his house since the early 1990s. To date it has under 30 actual miles on it. With the recent rise of Turbo Regal values, specifically Grand Nationals and GNXs, and the 50th Anniversary for the popular Barrett Jackson Auction held in January in Scottsdale Arizona, Bob is going to let Barrett Jackson auction off this iconic Grand National. This is the Holy Grail example for a Grand National. It is hard to imagine any other 1987 Grand National being worth more than this example. His wife after 30 plus years will now get the room back!
Over the years Bob has turned down over $200 grand for the car. Strictly my opinion but this example could fetch $250 to $325 grand as long as Barrett Jackson does some real heavy promotion! This will be one of the featured cars at the January auction. Whatever the outcome it will surely increase the value of all the remaining examples that have survived in their original condition. As the time draws closer we will have a contest with our Inner Circle members to see who can guess its actual hammered selling price. The closest under the actual hammered bid would be the winner. Watch for this contest sometime in December.

FOLLOW UP TO LAST WEEKS STORY ABOUT PAINTING I HAD DONE IN VIETNAM -
Eileen and Devyn have been cleaning out our basement and Eileen found the actual painting I had done of her when I was in Vietnam. She also found another oil painting I had done in Vietnam showing me in my Army uniform. I also had the same Vietnamese artist do one of the 1961 Corvette that I sold prior to entering my 3 year stint in the Army. Remarkably all 3 paintings are still in very good condition. I was in Vietnam in 1967 so they are now over 50 years old! Truly remarkable!
PHOTO 4 - I show all three canvas paintings. The one of me I show what I believe is the small picture the artist used to do the one of me. I also found the small black and white photo I had of my girlfriend, now my wife Eileen, that I gave the artist to create the painting of her from. This small black and white photo has been on my desk for many years and I carried it in my wallet in Vietnam. I can’t remember what they cost back then. I plan to hang them all side by side.

Here is the information on our credits for cores.
STEERING WHEEL CORES. Currently we need good 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering cores. They must be straight and not have rusted spokes. We will issue a Letter of Credit of $100 for each acceptable core. You must email me [email protected] a photo first to make sure the steering wheel is acceptable.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS. Currently, we are accepting powermaster brake units. We give a $150 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. Or, we will pay $125 cash for each powermaster core. To avoid having your core not accepted, you MUST first email me a photo of the core you plan to send in - [email protected] - We will NOT accept any cores that have severe rust issues or have been disassembled. Core must have the brake switch and brake bowl reservoir. Too many of the cores we have been getting are in such terrible shape they are worthless to us.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $175 Letter of Credit for each acceptable core. We need cores now. Or we will pay $150 cash for each complete stock turbo core.
BRAKE PEDALS we issue a letter of credit for $50 for each powermaster brake pedal or we will pay $40 cash for each pedal.
MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal sensors. They can not be cracked or broken. Each acceptable unit is worth a letter of credit of $40 each. We need cores now!

Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.

Reproduction FIBERGLASS FRONT & REAR BUMPERS
For the serious racer who wants every available advantage. These are made from the same bumper molds we used to sell over 35 years ago. My son did the prep work using the original bumpers on my 1987 Grand National.
These are for the serious racer and not designed for street use since they offer very little protection in case of an accident.
Both bumpers are done in black gelcoat and can be sanded and painted. The factory marker lights and bezels will fit the openings in the front bumper. Both molds were fully prepped and eliminated the rubber cushion completely. Both bumpers have a smooth front since the rubber cushion was completely eliminated. Both bumpers have fiberglass brackets on the back side that are slotted for adjustments to attach just like the original bumpers.
The fiberglass front bumper weighs just 8 pounds. The stock steel bumper with the reinforcement brace can weigh as much as 45 pounds depending on whether the reinforcement brace is steel or aluminum. You save 37 pounds.
The fiberglass rear bumper weighs less than 10 pounds. The stock steel rear bumper weighs as much as 45 pounds depending on whether it has a steel or aluminum reinforcement brace. You can shed as much as 35 pounds with this fiberglass rear bumper.

REBUILT ORIGINAL AC DELCO MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR
We are one of the very few sources to offer completely rebuilt original AC Delco mass air flow sensors for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. New mass air flow sensors have been discontinued from AC Delco for several years.
Other available rebuilt units are rebuilt using late-model Camaro mass air flow sensors, not rebuilt from original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal cores like these.
When comparing ours to the various reproductions, it’s important to note that the original one has the “AC Delco” logo embossed on the top cover, which is visible on the car. Others may not have that feature. We have highlighted the embossed logo area with a red arrow in our first photo.
Ours are 100% correct original mass air flow sensors with the proper plug, which came on the car originally.
Original parts will always be the top choice over any reproduction, especially for those wanting to keep their car original.

1984-1987 Regal -
LOCK PILLAR REINFORCEMENT PLATES (2) IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY
This 2mm thick spacer is designed to give the door pin more support.
If you look at the area where the striker is attached, more than likely you will see hairline cracks. They are spot welds that hold a cage nut so you can attach the door striker. These spot welds tend to take the place of one of the 2mm spacers and at the same time give the door striker more support.
This lock pillar reinforcement plate is shaped to look as if it came on the car from the factory. The reinforcement plate measures approximately 4″ x 5″, comes powder-coated glossy black for a lasting finish (glossy black will blend with most dark colors doors and all the Grand Nationals), and are sold as a pair. Plates are easy to install.
It’s interesting to note that GM actually had a recall on another Buick model, the Somerset, back in 1985 for having a similar problem. Their solution at the time was similar to these reinforcement plates.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
AFTERMARKET EPA CERTIFIED LOW RESTRICTIVE STOCK CATALYTIC CONVERTER
Many owners may want to replace the original pancake-style restrictive catalytic converter. This is a unique catalytic converter with the proper custom-made 4-bolt flange at the back end. The overall length is 18 inches. This is a direct bolt in replacement and similar to the one we offered over 20 years ago. This only works with the stock 2-1/2 inch diameter downpipe.
It will bolt up to the stock exhaust or to the Pypes Dual Exhaust system, Part #6996, we sell.
Original catalytic converters can easily become clogged over a long period of time. They are also a lot more restrictive due to its pancake style. Some states have very strict laws regarding emissions equipment, even on older cars.
This catalytic converter also can lower any drone sound the current mufflers may make.
We offer this low restrictive catalytic converter, which weighs less than 8 pounds and is EPA certified! It is not a universal converter, but one with the correct 4-bolt flange on the one end that will directly bolt into your Turbo Regal.
With the amount of heat turbo cars develop, the converter can begin to break down internally and clog the exhaust system.
The EPA rules dictate that replacement catalytic converters must go in the same location as the original converter. This unit bolts into that same area and has the same mounting flange.
This catalytic converter comes complete with the 4-bolt exhaust flange. This 4-bolt flange is very unique to these cars as no other G-body application has this style flange. We also offer the 4-bolt flange, Part #7947, by itself for those of you that may want to get a test pipe made for off road use only.
Another excellent replacement for any exhaust restoration.
