Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 10-23-2013

REPORT FROM THE 2013 GS NATIONALS -

This was the very first time I made the 13-hour drive in one day, from Pennsylvania to Kentucky. Normally, it takes me a day and a half.

The weather was typical for this time of the year with Friday, the car show day, being absolutely picture perfect. Unfortunately, it was raining Saturday morning and most of us vendors packed up in the late morning.

It was good to see a lot of old friends and all the major vendors that were there. We did get to see Art Carr and his wife Dottie on Friday, as they flew in from sunny California.

The GS Nationals always has some very rare examples of T-Types and Turbo-Ts in attendance. Also a few of the earlier model Turbo Regals as well.

PHOTO 1 - The top photo shows the working area for Don Cruz, who has one of the fastest Turbo Regals. Notice the play on words – Home of the CRUZ Missile! The bottom photo shows an Illinois license plate that says it all – "HI PSI."

PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows one of the nicely detailed highly-modified Turbo engines. The top right photo shows a rear disc brake setup on a Grand National. The bottom left photo shows a dash cluster that I had never seen before. What may not be visible is the other gauges are in the narrow opening where the idiot lights are normally located. The bottom right photo shows a very unique 1987 Turbo-T Limited featuring a rare color with the black-out package and tan leather pillow seats.

PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows an older Buick on a trailer in the swap meet area. The sign on the front says "PICK A PART" and there was a bucket of tools to lend on the trailer! The top right photo shows an early set of Turbo wheels for sale in the swap meet. The bottom left photo shows a close up of a T-Type door panel. The previous owner had perforated the upper door panel for a speaker. The bottom right photo shows a powermaster brake bowl where someone had cut it open, perhaps in an attempt to repair it, and then re-welded a fitting to the outer shell.

PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows one of the best looking analog dash upgrades using a later LeSabre dash cluster. The top right photo shows one highly chromed-out engine compartment. The bottom left photo shows a close up of our early-style adjustable fuel regulator. The bottom right photo shows something I had never seen before. It is a description on how the Lear Siegler seat adjustments work. As you know, those seats are the most comfortable and offer lumbar support.

We will have more photos from the GS Nationals to share next week.

COMING SOON -

We are putting together a list of Christmas Specials. It's always a favorite among our customers. Watch for it soon.

PRETTY NEAT CONTEST -

On the way home, Pete and I stayed at a Microtel Inn and Suites. It is part of the Wyndham company. They are running a contest offering gas for life. I read the small print and the winner will be covered up to $2,000 per year for 50 years. This is pretty impressive. Hopefully, the winner is in his early-to-late twenties, so he can reap the full benefits!

HARD TO BELIEVE -

Chuck Berry, one of the 1950s icons in rock and roll music, turned 87 last week. My wife and I saw him in concert years ago.

TURBO TRANS AM ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION -

Currently we have a deposit already on this drivetrain. This has been a very rare find for us.

BREAKING NEWS - POWERMASTERS BRAKE UNITS -

Cardone now has their next shipment of brake bowls in Texas and has started to rebuild our powermaster cores. We are also sending them more cores to catch up on the demand that we have, and to also fill orders from other Turbo Regal vendors.

If you need one, it's important to contact our office (if you have not done so already,) to get on the list - 215-766-1611. Orders will be filled in the order we receive the request. You will NOT be charged until we can ship your unit to you.

ANOTHER NEW PART AVAILABLE -

Years ago we used to offer a Baer front brake upgrade system, which required cores for the front spindles.

Baer now offers a SS4+ system, which eliminates cores and, unlike the old system, this one works with the stock 1986 and 1987 T-Type and Grand National wheels. It will work on all 1978-1988 A-Body and G-body cars.

This system is far superior to the stock front brake set up that Buick used on our cars. It works with the stock powermaster brake system as well.

This system will be on our website later this week, Part #7537, #7538 and #7539.

An excellent product to upgrade your brake system.

You must call our office to order, since systems are dropped shipped from Arizona - 215-766-1611.

THE RETURN OF THE TURBO REGAL TOOL MAT -

1978-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
TOOL MAT

After a long absence, we once again have the unique tool mat available made specifically for our cars. The original supplier, who made them years ago, has had them produced once again.

This is a practical item to hold your tools and protect the car while you're working in the engine compartment.

It is form fitted to sit on the front core support and hood latch. The mat keeps everything at your fingertips; your tools and the parts you might drop in the engine area. It positions in the center of the front of the car, over the radiator support.

It has a matt finish, and the material has both the characteristics of rubber and plastic and is softer than the typical ABS plastic.

It's a great way to prevent your tools from scratching your car, rolling away or getting lost, while keeping any tools and parts within your reach.

This is another must-have item for your garage. It also makes a great gift idea for any Buick enthusiast or for your mechanic.

7541 - 1978-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) - Tool Mat - $54.95

CLOSE OUT SPECIAL -

We recently bought out another company’s billet-style oil tube and breather assembly. This fits all the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal driver’s side valve cover. All billet construction with O-ring and a new chrome-plated top breather is included. Overall height is 4 inches. (See Inner Circle 08-14-2013 Photo 4)

We have about 20 of them at $34.95 each. You must call Christina - 215-766-1611 or email - [email protected] - to purchase this, since it has no part number and supplies are limited. The company has no plans to make this part again. It normally sold for over $40 each.

OLD STYLE A-BODY ROUND HEADLIGHTS -

From the same supplier as the 4" x 6" rectangle G-body headlights we now sell, we have the same original looking headlights that are the 5-3/4" round glass H4 headlights. These are not on our website. We will have prices for them shortly. We also have a similar upgraded headlight plug-and-play harness for these headlights. This would enable you to upgrade to 100 watts in the H4 format, for the cars that use the 5-3/4" round headlights.

We also will have the 7" round headlights in the H4 format for the 12- volt car and trucks. Both the 5-3/4" round headlights and the 7" round headlights fit all makes and models, U.S. and foreign, from around 1955 through the mid 1980s, including cars and trucks. We are already starting to sell these other formats to other mail-order companies.

So basically, we have most of the market covered from 1955 and up for upgrading to H4 headlights that almost look stock. The upgraded headlight plug-and-play harness is also an upgrade, but unlike the one for the G-Body cars, the older cars can handle the 55/60 watt H4 headlights without the upgraded headlight plug-and-play headlight harness.

However, the upgraded headlight plug-and-play harness allows you to step up to 100 watts. Since all the H4 headlight bulbs are 3 prong, if you go with the upgraded headlight plug-and-play harness, all four plugs are three prong, so you do not need to bend down the center tab on the high beam H4 bulb.

You can email me direct - [email protected] - for more information and pricing on either format. I know many of you have older cars and trucks. These other two systems fit virtually every make and model, U.S. and foreign. The H4 headlight system really does a great job of lighting up the road at night while retaining a factory original appearance.

The part number for the H4 headlight upgrade for all the G-body cars is #7530 on our website. It's the best value you can spend that makes a world of difference for night driving.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -

“BAD TO THE BONE BLVD” STREET SIGN

Here is a clever sign for a car show display or to use as garage art.

One of the clever sayings associated with the Turbo Regals, and the Grand National in particular, is “BAD TO THE BONE.”

We have produced this familiar quote, “BAD TO THE BONE” BLVD on a green PVC material, making it appear like an actual street sign. Sign can be drilled if you want to hang it.

The size is 4" tall by 30" long.

Makes a great addition to a garage, office or as a gift to any Turbo Buick enthusiast.

7540 - “BAD TO THE BONE BLVD” Street Sign - $17.95

LOOKING FOR IDEAS -

If you have any product ideas that would fit our Turbo Buick market that you would like to see available, email me direct - [email protected]

ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -

Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - [email protected].

Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE - We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected].

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

IN CLOSING -

With the fall colors now in full bloom, it makes for an excellent backdrop for photographing your car against God's background.
