10-26-2022 Inner Circle

Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 10-26-2022 - ANNUAL HALLOWEEN M & M CONTEST - For any of you new members that may not understand why I do several M&M contests during the year. It goes back to my childhood, as my parents would do this around holidays for us five kids. Taking a guess puts all of us on the same level. It was always fun. So in memory of my youth and my Mom I do it for those great times. You get one guess and it must be emailed to me [email protected] by this Friday October 28th by 12 midnite eastern time. The closest guess under the actual count will be declared the winner. In case of a tie the earliest email will be declared the winner. Contest is open to all readers except those involved in the Turbo Regal business. The prizes: Besides winning the container filled with M&Ms you get your pick of 5 of the 10 different information booklets we recently had published. Also you will get one of our first new banners that will feature artwork depicting the WE4-Grand National-GNX all in the same setting. I plan to personally sign each banner. We expect to have these new banners done next week. I believe it will be the very first banner that will feature the 3 most popular Turbo Regals that Buick did in 1987. I know having sold them over the years those 3 models are the top sellers and represent a good investment. PHOTO 1 - We show the actual Pumpkin container that the M&Ms are in. It measures 7 inches tall and 8 inches tall overall counting the stem at the top. The second photo shows the 10 different booklets we just had. All their part numbers appear on our website with a description for each. Good luck participants! We do not have a photo showing the new vinyl banner which the winner will also receive. Member email your one single guess direct to me [email protected] THE STORY OF THE VERY UNUSUAL 1955 CHEVY 2-DOOR SEDAN - The other week I attended a local car show that featured probably about 200 different cars and trucks. Over the years I have attended many many car shows featuring a wide variety of show cars and trucks. At this show I saw a 1955 Chevy model that in all these years of attending car shows I had never seen before! Not only did the car catch my eye but in a frame sitting on the front radiator support was the information about the car. It was all nicely typed. Because of my background I immediately spotted two spelling errors. I saw the owner sitting in a chair by this 1955 Chevy so I went up to him to talk to him about his car and mention the two spelling errors I spotted. Hardly anyone was paying any attention to what at an initial glance was just a bare bones two door 1955 Chevy. He told me in all these years no one has ever said anything about seeing any spelling errors on his sign. I said if I was to have my wife look at it she would probably find a few others! He laughed! Here is what made his car quite unusual. It was a business coupe or utility sedan as each car company had their own name for them. I know that years ago I had a 1940 Studebaker coupe and later a 1949 Ford business coupe. Neither of them had a back seat! This 1955 had no back seat, no heater, no clock, no radio, no chrome trim surrounding all the windows. Plus both side windows were fixed, and you could not open them! It was the cheapest model Chevy sold in 1955. I believe it was around $1400 out the door. Mainly sold to sales people or the military. But just like finding a Turbo Regal today with a radio delete, crank windows, and no tilt. Fewer options means fewer problems and also you get a lighter car. He did have a later drive train in this Chevy. He said some of the hardest parts he had to find was the heater delete plate and new weather strips for the windshield and back window since his car lacks the chrome outer trim around the windshield and back window. PHOTO 2 - The top left photos of this extremely rare 1955 Chevy 2 door sedan. The top; right photo shows the dash with the delete plate for the heater and radio. The bottom left shows a photo of his original framed description of his car. The bottom right shows the one my wife Eileen did as a gift for him! She even added photos of his car to the write up. Minus a total of 6 spelling errors. The two I spotted and the four my wife spotted! He has called me and thanked me for what I did for him! PHOTOS OF MORE PARTS WE HAVE FOR SALE - All these parts can be seen under the Rare Parts section. PHOTO 3 - The top left shows all 3 factory 1987 Buick brochures. The top right photo shows original Power Source heavy duty parts and a rare Eastern Performance catalog. It is not dated! The bottom left photo shows the more detailed 1987 Buick information booklet runs 96 pages! The bottom right photo shows this handcrafted sign I bought at a swap meet. Locally done. WE GOT MORE BRAKE BOWLS EXPECTED LATER THIS WEEK - It is best to call our office if you want to get one from this next batch we have coming in. The office number is 215–766-1611. ONE UNBELIEVABLE STORY, BUT TRUE AS I WAS PART OF IT - This past Saturday I attended an auction near me a auction where the seller who at 92 years old had an auction of his vast collection of Model A’s, Model T’s, a 1950 Plymouth 2 door sedan, a 1929 Chrdsyler Brougham various car trailers, and various model a and model T parts. Plus a real nice original 1959 Corvette 283 - 4speed. It was the Corvette that I was going to bid on for a customer of mine. The Corvette was a good color black with silver inset and red interior 4-speed no hardtop. This auction was maybe 4-5 miles from my house. It started at 9 am and the cars were going to be auctioned around 11 am. Eight cars in total with the Corvette being last which was clever as it was the highest selling car at the auction. Being it was in my area I knew several people and spent time talking to various friends etc. My one buddy ended up buying the 1950 Plymouth. It went for I believe $9200. I had taken with me 4 of the handcrafted street rod models and I would take people over to my car and show them the street rods to kill time before the car auction. My potential buyer and I had a figure of bidding as high as $45 grand with the hopes of buying the Corvette. One friend I met lived near our old house and recently restored Graham Nash's Mercedes Benz, and was driving a very rare Jaguar sedan a supercharged V8 1 of about 750 made. I can’t recall the exact number or year. Anyhow he went into the one building where they were auctioning off various small parts and there were 3 cardboard display advertisements on carburetors. Nothing special, and not in great shape. A bit later he comes out to talk to me and says you remember seeing those 3 cardboard signs? I said yes. He said you will not believe what they sold for! They sold for $625 each! Not only that, but the same guy bought all 3 for over $1800! Then he tells me that is not the unusual thing. The high bidder then gave them to the person he was bidding against! He gave them to the second highest bidder free! I could not believe it. I said point this guy out to me. I want to see if I know him. A bit later he pointed him out to me. I don’t recognize him so I tell my friend to go over and talk to him and ask him why he did that. Maybe I can show him one of my street rod cars. He may be a buyer. At that point not many people saw that this person simply gave the signs away. My friend goes over and talks to him and comes back to me as the cars are starting to get auctioned off and I want to track them and bid on the 1959 Corvette. He comes back and tells me the guy just handed him $200 for no reason and said “Pay it forward”. He shows me the two $100 bills which look real to me. Now my buddy has no idea who he is either. Plus he never saw this guy hand any money to anyone else. He is not wearing any flashy clothes, not even any jewelry or a watch. I peg his age around 50. So I decided to go over with one of these handcrafted street rods to show this stranger. In doing so he takes out a $100 and hands it to me. At first I thought he wanted to buy the hand crafted street rod but before I could say that I wanted more than $100 for it. He says no, the $100 is a gift and to pay it forward. I tried to refuse the crisp new $100 bill. I explained I do pay it forward as I got a brother I sent items to every week and try to see him once a month. I did ask him if he did indeed give the guy the $1800 worth of advertisements earlier for free. He said he did! At this point my friend Dom and I are simply dumbfounded. I said I got to get some photos of this as my wife will never believe it. I only use a flip phone, but I had my camera with me. I saw another friend of mine and gave him my camera to take photos of us 3 and his one friend that came with him. My friend I handed the camera to could not figure out how to operate my camera so I told him to hand it off to anyone that is watching all this to take the photos which he does. At this point some of the people at the auction started to observe us and try to figure out why we had several people taking various photos of us. Meantime I am keeping an eye on the auction as the Corvette is coming up for bids soon. Now the auctioneer is starting to sell the Corvette. It opens at $25 grand, I jump in the bidding at $30 grand. It keeps going up. I stop at $45 grand where it stalls for a few minutes. Up to that point it was just me and someone I did not recognize. Then another bidder jumps in and it goes to $50 grand. I then notice the guy who gave us the $100 bills standing about three people behind me and he starts to bid against the other guy. It ends up selling for $75 grand! The person that gave us the money holds the winning bid at $75 grand! My friend Dom asks him what do you plan to do with the Corvette? He says I will probably give it away or to charity! This Corvette needed to be restored and in my opinion was not worth $75 grand as it stood. At this point the auction ended and I left. On my drive to lunch I am thinking I should get the $100 bill checked to see if it is real? I got the $100 bill checked to see if it was real and it was. I never saw anyone taking pictures or a video when all this was happening as I thought maybe this was a stunt. It could not be a scam to bump up the price on the Corvette as he had the top bid. Also on the $1800 for the 3 signs he gave them to the second highest bidder free. When I was talking to him with much prodding he did give me his name. I won’t name him, but I did check him out and he is wealthy and he is in his 50s. I did leave a bigger tip than normal when I had lunch that day “paying it forward”. The baffling part is at no time did we see him give anyone else money nor bid on anything else. There were probably at least 250 or more people at this small country auction. He gave my buddy $200 as my buddy said he has a sister inlaw he helps out. I did give the waitress at lunch a bigger tip than usual! True Story! PHOTO 4 - The first photo shows the flier for the auction. The red 4-door 1911 Model T Touring that was fully restored I believe went for $25 grand. The blue 1950 Plymouth went for $9200. The 1929 Chrysler Brougham Sedan restored went for I believe around $25 grand. It was a magnificent car that would require a good size garage to keep indoors. The second photo shows several of the model Ts and model As restored and needing to be restored. The last photo shows front left to right my friend Dom, Brian, who is friends with the person who gave us the money and myself on the far right. I do not want to name the generous person who in a matter of one hour showed that people can be generous. 1987 GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP FOR SALE WITH UNDER 50 ACTUAL MILES - This car is located in New York. There is a video on it. The video was shot by the seller's neighbor who owns a Grand National and is a customer of ours. You can email me for that information. It appears the seller had a GM dealership and tucked this car away in a protective bubble. Actual miles are just 43. May not be the lowest mileage one in existence, but it is probably in the top five. Car appears to have been properly stored. The seller wants an even hundred grand for the Grand National. He will not budge at all on the price tag. My customer has tried to no avail. Email me [email protected] TEN TOP REASONS TO OWN A BUICK GRAND NATIONAL BANNER NOW AVAILABLE - This full color 13 ounce vinyl banner is also now in stock. The part #8044. I would not want you to think we neglected that segment of Turbo owners! AUCTION RESULTS FROM LAST WEEKS AUCTION - I figured it would be a tough sale as our market is Turbo Regals and the item was a hand built 1:24 scale Street Rod. Plus as I have stated before pictures fall way short of doing it justice if you were to see any of the 31 I have in person. Everyone I have shown it to, are simply amazed at the attention to detail plus the fact the body is hand crafted in wood and the builder also hand crafted in most cases the entire engine and suspension. Only the wheels, tires and on the roadsters the steering wheel was from a plastic kit. He built 31 in a 12 year span starting at age 70. I had my wife make up small cards and I took a picture of him signing each card to go with each car. In about two weeks there's a huge annual swap meet and car show near my house that Plan to attend and show a few people at this event. NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE - We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle. When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another. Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works. You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version. NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE - We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo. If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
