Our offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, November 23rd and 24th. You will be able to place orders on the internet, but nothing will get shipped until the following Monday, November 27, 2017. Wishing all our customers and friends a Happy Thanksgiving.

THANKSGIVING M&Ms CONTEST -

As most long-time readers know, we do M&Ms contests several times a year. It brings back memories of when I was growing up, since my Mom would always do M&Ms contests around the holidays for us 5 kids. Since the answer relied on guesswork, all us kids had an equal chance of winning.

Here are the rules. You get 1 guess that must be emailed direct to me - [email protected]

The deadline to participate is this Saturday night, November 25th by 9 pm eastern time. The closest guess under the actual count will be declared the winner. Winner will be announced in next week’s Inner Circle. Contest is open to all our customers that are reading this, except those that work or own a Turbo Regal related business.

The prize - Besides winning the actual container filled with M&Ms, you get the Yum Yums gifts show in photo 1, plus a $50 Gift Certificate good for any our website parts.

PHOTO 1 - The photo to the left shows the container filled with M&Ms. The container is approximately 12 inches tall and is packed to the very top. The photo to the right shows the gifts you will win along the container of M&Ms. The prizes are from the Yum Yums donut shop, which includes a bag of their special coffee, 1 of their embroidered logo shirts in large, and 1 of their thermo bottles. Plus you get a Kirban Performance $50 Gift Certificate good for any of our website parts. The $50 gift certificate is good for 1 year.

Your single entry must be emailed to me - [email protected] before 9 pm eastern time this Saturday night, November 25th. Good luck players!

INTERVIEW FOR A YouTube VIDEO -

This past Saturday I was interviewed by Steven Saffier for a series of YouTube videos he is doing. He is going to be interviewing various well-known people in various automotive companies. It took about 4 hours. He plans to put together a 10-20 minute video. It was professionally filmed by Jeff Baker, who has done numerous video projects.

Candace and Bernie Garcia where gracious enough to bring her 1987 Grand National for the video. Kandace inherited her father’s car after he passed away.

Once it is available for viewing, we will let our readers know.

PHOTO 2 - Most of the video was filmed in our pole building. These are 4 photos I took in between the video shoot. Steven asked me about a dozen questions going back to my childhood. I can’t wait to see the finished edited product.

PHOTO 3 - Shows 3 photos I took as Jeff was setting up to photograph some of my Buick collectibles. The one photo shows a vantage point of looking into the back of his camera.

ORIGINAL FORD AND MERCURY CLOTH GLOVE BOX MANUAL HOLDERS -

Over time I have found these Owner’s Manual holders in various Ford vehicles in the salvage yards. I find these cloth glove box manual holders quite useful. I use 3 of them to hold various items like phone chargers and cameras, etc. They are small and have a zipper to close them. Each glove box manual case has the logo embroidered on the front. They measure approximately 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide.

PHOTO 4 - Shows both the Mercury glove box manual holder and the Ford logo manual holder. Both are cloth with a zipper to close them. See the Rare Parts section as they are very inexpensive to buy. We have several of each available.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SPECIALS -

Our Christmas Specials will be announced next week.

MORE ABOUT AC HISTORY -

Last week we showed you 2 very unusual AC tachometers. AC are the initials for Alfred Champion. A former track bicycle racer, in 1905 in Boston he began to make porcelain spark plugs. Three years later he founded Champion Ignition Company. He later changed it to AC Spark Plug Company. His spark plugs powered Charles Lindbergh’s historic flight in 1927.

Alfred Champion had numerous affairs over almost 20 years, until his wife sued him for extreme cruelty. In 1922, he married a younger woman. His death at 49 years old was due to a punch he got from his wife’s married lover. His numerous affairs would have made for great reading in the National Enquirer!

When he died in 1927, he left his widow a cool $15 million dollars. That is a lot of money in 1927!

What I find interesting, is that the company that goes by his last name Champion is still in business today, and the company that uses just his initials AC is still in business today as part of AC Delco.

That is an impressive record - over 100 years and counting, and having 2 different companies still in business today that carry on his name or initials.

Another name that had a shorter run with just his last name and his initials was Ransom E. Olds. By 1901 Ransom E. Olds built 11 prototype vehicles. In 1897 Samuel Smith renamed it Olds Motor Works. Samuel Smith was the President and Ransom Olds became the vice president. In 1904 Ransom E. Olds left Oldsmobile as he clashed frequently with Fred Smith. Fred Smith was the son of Samuel Smith. He then formed the company R.E. Olds Motor company that was later changed to REO, which came from his initials. REO would later merge with Diamond T trucks in 1967. It would become Diamond Reo. In 1975 Diamond Reo filed for bankruptcy. Oldsmobile would suffer a similar fate in 2004 when GM discontinued the brand. Olds had a great run lasting 96 years of the GM family.

ON THE NEWS FRONT -

Car and Driver magazine just published their December issue, #750. On the cover is the new ZR1 Corvette that matches that number with 750 in horsepower. This issue covers a lot of automotive trivia and interesting facts. It even mentions the 1964 GTO that started the smaller and lighter street racer formula, coupled to a terrific marketing formula by legendary ad man Jim Wangers.

The silver 1964 GTO they pictured is the one Pontiac restored years ago. I sold Pontiac the red steering wheel that is in that car. It’s not often you get to sell a used part to GM! Somewhere I have a copy of the check they sent me!

The magazine even mentions the Yugo, which took 14 seconds flat in the 0-60 acceleration test. Top speed was noted at 86 mph. It was duly noted as the worst car in history.

Looking into a crystal ball, it’s hard not to imagine that at some point electric cars are going to be in the majority. The new 2020 Tesla Roadster has clocked an unbelievable 0-60 times in just 1.9 seconds.

Cars powered by electric are going to put tuners out of business at some point in the future. Just a matter of time before gas-powered muscle cars all become antiques.

UPDATE ON COLLECTOR SELLING HIS COLLECTION DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES -

Currently he has 3 cars to sell.

One car is a 1978 Corvette coupe. It has the L82 engine and one repaint. This is a real nice 4-speed. The car has 4 brand new factory wheels and has 52,000 original miles. The price on the Corvette is $12,900.

He also has a 1994 Trans Am 25th Anniversary Firebird for sale. This car is all original with all the papers and documents and has 34,000 original miles. The price is $16,900.

I heard both cars run while I was there. He has all the records on both cars and what has been done on them over the years that he has owned them. These cars have always garaged.

While neither car is extremely valuable, both are priced to enjoy and hit the car show circuit Because of their low production, they should maintain their value.

He also has a 1967 BMW 2000 CS factory 4-speed with dual weber carburetors on it. This is a nice example of an unusual BMW coupe for $14,900.

If any of these cars interest you, email me direct - [email protected]

Good news - We now accept Classified Ads in our weekly Inner Circle emails. Over the years several customers have asked about placing an ad in our weekly Inner Circle.

1950 CHEVROLET PICK UP - TURBO REGAL POWERED - FOR SALE -

The same seller I bought the white Turbo-T from has this unfinished project to sell. The engine is a 1987 Turbo Regal engine with a mere 15,000 miles on it. He purchased it from a wrecked 1987 Grand National. The truck has an uncut 1987 Turbo Regal 8.5 rear under it. This has a rebuilt worked 350 Turbo Transmission behind the Turbo engine. The engine has several dress-up items on it, including the value covers. All the hard work has been done. The truck has been wired for 12 volts, with custom gauges and disc front brakes. The truck has no bed. The cab has surface rust and needs finishing.

For more information and photos, email me direct - [email protected] The truck is in central Ohio and would need to be trailered. The price is $5,495. Remember, you get a complete stock 15,000-mile Turbo Regal engine with a complete uncut 8.5 posi rear end, both of which came out of the same wrecked 1987 Grand National in 1988. Currently there is a sale pending on this truck.

NEW PRODUCTS FROM US -

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
REPRODUCTION 8-HOLE MOLDED
UNDER HOOD INSULATOR LINER PAD (NO WORDING)

Over time, an original under hood (insulator liner) pad can deteriorate or rodents may have eaten holes in the material.

GM has not had the factory 9-hole molded hood pad available for several years. GM later made a 8-hole molded hood pad which eliminated the center back hole.

This hood pad is an exact reproduction of that GM 8-hole molded hood pad. A new mold was made from a brand new GM hood pad.

This molded hood pad does not have the wording on it, otherwise it is exact to the 8-hole style pad.

Whenever an original 9-hole hood pad with the wording is advertised on ebay, it brings big money.

NOTE - From time to time on the internet you can find someone that has the pattern or decal for the exact wording, if you want it to look original.

Because they are oversized to ship, we have a flat shipping charge as shown. This item is shipped direct from the manufacturer to you. NOTE - We have a flat shipping rate, since the box is oversized.

*NOTE - Price includes the shipping and handling UPS Ground Shipping to 48 U.S. continental states.

Another excellent restoration item.

7770 - 1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Reproduction 8-Hole Molded Under Hood Insulator Liner Pad (No Wording) - $229.95 Plus $75 UPS shipping to basic 48 states - TOTAL $304.95

Here is a link to this Hood Pad on our website.

1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
Reproduction UPPER RADIATOR INSULATORS/BUSHINGS (2)

Over time, radiator heat can cause the insulators to deteriorate.

These reproduction UPPER radiator insulators have the correct 62mm cut out for the stock 1984-1987 Turbo Regal radiators.

NOTE - You may have to stretch these slightly for various aftermarket radiators.

This is a critical part to secure the radiator under the top plate.

Another excellent replacement for any radiator or cooling system restoration.

7811 - 1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
Reproduction UPPER Radiator Insulators/Bushings (2) - $15.95

Here is a link to these insulators/bushings on our website.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.
