2020 CHRISTMAS M&MS CONTEST WINNER -
The actual count was 1,852. We had a lot of guesses that were slightly higher than the actual count. The closest guess under the actual count with his 1,650 guess was Bill Furst. Bill is our 2020 Christmas M&Ms winner! Bill hails from Maryland owns a mint 1987 white Turbo-T. He has been a long time customer of ours!
BREAKING NEWS ABOUT REBUILT POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS -
We just received word from Cardone that they got the brake bowls and have units built that will be ready to ship the first week of January. Like many companies, with the holidays the engineer that heads up that division is on vacation this week. Because we are closed starting tomorrow until January 4th 2021 it is best to email [email protected] if you want to get one of these upcoming rebuilt powermaster brake units. Christina will contact you the first week in January and give you an update on when your order will be sent. Your credit card would not be charged until we can ship your unit to you. Cardone has plenty of our cores on hand and they have a good number of units already built ready to go once they install the brake bowl and do the initial testing on each unit. Because all our powermaster units are rebuilt by Cardone in Philadelphia we expect to get a very quick turn around.
SAD BREAKING NEWS -
I just found out this past weekend that Steve Ames owner of Ames Performance passed away. He had Parkinsons in recent years and suffered a recent hard fall. Steve was 76 years old. Steve is well known in the GM circle, specifically the Pontiac brand. He along with our company were the first two companies that saw the potential of the GTOs in the late 1970s. He started his business around 1976 and I would follow soon after. His company was considered the first and our company was the second company to market GTO parts. Back then GTOs were still basically used cars. We both focused on parts for the GTO. He originally started by buying NOS Pontiac parts from various dealers all over the east coast.
Steve was very good at what he did. The reproductions he produced had to be exact. I know because we would often have discussions on items we made and he wanted them exact. One part in particular was the 1964-1965 GTO splitters that our company made. For the first several years we avoided spending the money to make the Y portion correct. That part would end up eventually costing us $10,000 to make correct. It required a stamping. Steve insisted we make them correct. We first made them with rolled tubing and tack welded the stainless tips to them. It was the right move as the splitters became probably our all time best selling GTO part.
In those early days we would work with each other so money was not wasted by more than one company making several reproductions of the same parts. We would simply wholesale parts we got made to each other. Ames would later expand to cover many other Pontiac models and is considered the largest supplier in the country for Pontiac restoration parts. No other company has had a larger impact in the Pontiac restoration business than Steve. In later years whenever I went to the Spring and Fall Carlisle events I would seek him out and we would both recall the early days of the business.
A long-time personal friend who always had a smile and would share his knowledge with anyone.

WEIRD COINCIDENCE -
As a subscriber you know we do an Inner Circle email every Wednesday only skipping one week between Christmas and New Years. That works out to 51 issues every year. Eileen just happened to look at the counter for this week and this issue is number “666”.
That number has a special meaning to us as my Dad who wrote over 50 books one of the two best sellers he wrote was entitled “666” . First published by himself in 1970 and within 2 years it was in its 7th printing and had topped ¼ million in sales. It would later hit the ½ million sales mark.
A OPTION THAT WAS STANDARD IN ALL THE TURBO REGALS -
One little option carries code U23; it is the Trip Odometer” with a $16 price tag. This option was pretty much standard equipment even on the regular V6 and V8 Regals from 1984-1987. I can’t recall ever seeing an analog dash cluster that did not have this option. Why it was standard with the Turbo engine option I have no idea. For the years 1984 through 1986 in the Price directory it says “std. On T Type”. In 1987 the wording changed slightly in the Price Directory. It reads “Trip Odometer (included with the LC2, U52 and WE)” The price remained the same at $16.

REAR SEAT FRAME BRACE KIT -
According to our records we have been selling this 4-piece rear seat brace kit since 1994. Over 26 years of sales! Engineered and built originally by John Pearcy out of Washington State he would supply them to us for many years before turning the operation over to us.
I can’t say it enough; this is a must have part if your G-body car has the factory T-Tops. The pay off of installing this 4 brace kit is quickly realized within minutes of driving your Turbo Regal after you install the kit. We also wholesale it to several other G-Body vendors. We sell an average of 100 or more sets every year. There is no downside to installing this kit. You do have to remove your back seat in order to drill into the factory welded frame brace. Some owners have reported that their factory frame brace is cracked. This happens due to severe twisting movement. Welds can be broken. All this needs to be addressed after you install the 4-piece rear seat frame brace kit.
Over the years we have heard from numerous customers that were amazed how well the 4 piece rear seat brace kit works. The brace kit eliminates most rattles of the T-Tops when going over bumps. Going over railroad tracks rattles are greatly reduced or eliminated. A difference you can notice almost immediately the first time you drive your car after you install the 4-piece brace kit.
Even if you have a hardtop or factory astro roof Regal we still recommend this kit be installed. One of the cheapest and easiest methods to tighten up the back end of your car. Most readers know I am not a huge fan of T-Tops. Ford wised up during the Fox body models and at some point during production they discontinued the T-Top option in the Fox body models.
Hurst was one of the early companies that got into the T-Top game. In the early 1970s manual shifter cars were losing their popularity so Hurst was looking at other parts to create and bring to market. Hurst Hatch tops were for the various GM models including the Buick Regal 1975-1976 models. Hurst Hatch tops were smaller than the factory T-Tops that GM would offer in the later years.
Hurst even published a 24-page Installation booklet on cutting your roof and installing a set of the Hurst Hatches. Needless to say you need to have a pretty high skill set before attempting this project. The booklet even shows that Hurst provided a suitcase to put the Tops in when not used. I have never seen this suitcase they show in the instruction booklet. Buick of course had bags with the GM logo on them to house the T-Tops when they were not in use. Buick even published a water leak diagnosis and repair manual specifically for the 1975-1976 Hurst/Hatch Roof as it was called. That should have been the first clue to maybe not offer T-Tops on a Turbo-powered Regal. The combination of low end torque with a portion of the roof cut out is not a good combination.
I recall a few years ago a customer called me. He was cleaning his pride and joy and had set the T-Tops behind his car. He got distracted, and in the process of backing up his car he ran over one of the T-Tops, crushing it.
We also sell a reproduction of the GNX brace that gets welded in. Part #7169 sells for $199.95 and is drop shipped from the manufacturer. Either brace kit will help retain the stiffness of your car.

PARTS UPDATE -
We still have in stock just one of the 9-piece grey trunk kit #6510. The price is $279.95 each. This kit is a tremendous improvement over the $3 ill fitting throw rug Buick put in the trunk! Grey is also the correct color as the optional trunk 9-piece kit was from Buick for the Regal.
Our main supplier who buys 50 analog fuel senders at a time can’t get any more analog fuel senders from any of his sources.
However, we have located two of these rare analog fuel sender units and they are in route to us. We have two available. The part number is #7441. I have no idea if and when we will get any more. if you want one of these. You must call our office 215-766-1611.
We also currently have two of the Cold Case aluminum radiators in stock #7457. It is best to call our office 215-766-1611 if you want one.

TIP FROM KIRBAN –
The rear seat brace kit is a great winter project to do if you have a garage and a jack. It's best to get the rear wheels off the ground when doing this installation. Since you have to remove the rear seat you may discover one of the original broadcast sheets that would be tucked under the seat springs. The other one is usually found in the drivers door.

We discovered that FedEx will not forward any packages that are sent to the old PO Box or to our old address in Plumsteadville. Instead they deliver the packages to the old address and leave them outside or send them back to the shipper. They refuse to forward and say that we should notify the shipper. In most cases, we have no idea when we are getting packages shipped back to us.
If you have any cores that are being sent back to us, be sure to use the correct address, especially if you use FedEx. Otherwise, we may not receive your package or it may be sent back to you.

CORES NEEDED - URGENT REQUEST –
Here is the information on our credits for cores.
STEERING WHEEL CORES. Currently we need good 1986-1987 Turbo Regal steering cores. They must be straight and not have rusted spokes. We will issue a Letter of Credit of $100 for each acceptable core. You must email me [email protected] a photo first to make sure the steering wheel is acceptable.
POWERMASTER BRAKE UNITS. Currently, we are accepting powermaster brake units. We give a $150 Letter-of-Credit for each acceptable core. If you include the turbo pedal add $10. You would receive $160 Letter-of-Credit. To avoid having your core not accepted, you MUST first email me a photo of the core you plan to send in - [email protected] - We will NOT accept any cores that have severe rust issues or have been disassembled. Core must have the
brake switch and brake bowl reservoir. Too many of the cores we have been getting are in such terrible shape they are worthless to us.
TURBO CORES must be the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal stock turbo. They must be complete. We will issue you a $175 Letter-of-Credit for each acceptable core. We need cores now.
If you ship to us, the post office is the cheapest method. Pack the item(s) with a note with your name, address and phone number.

Good news - We now accept Classified Ads in our weekly Inner Circle emails. Over the years several customers have asked about placing an ad in our weekly Inner Circle.
Here are the options and the costs.
Ads can be from any individual or company. It needs to be automotive related, meaning it does not need to be specifically Turbo Regal related. It can be for something for sale or something wanted.
Maximum number of words is 125 words, which is about 7 to 9 lines of copy. No photos. You can list a website. We recommend you state your name, phone number or email, a price, and your location in your ad.
The cost for 2 consecutive weeks is $25. The cost for 4 consecutive weeks is $40. You save $10 with the 4-week plan. No changes can be made to your existing running ad. You can only run one ad at any given time. We will have a code system at the end of your ad, so we will know what week number your ad is to run - 2 or 4 weeks.
It can be an ad for something for sale or an ad for something you are looking for.
We have never missed a single week since we started the Inner Circle email format in 2009. It’s something I enjoy doing and I just always seem to have enough material to write about.
Our weekly Inner Circle reaches over 3,400 members every Wednesday direct to their inbox. The Inner Circle also appears every Wednesday on our website with the related photos. Your ad would be visible to both groups of readers. So, the exposure to your ad is well over 3,400 potential buyers.

One thing that has been missing all these years for the Turbo Regal owner is a nice stainless black powder-coated license plate frame. We have designed several with a unique tagline referring to some of the most collectible high-performance car models.
We have come up with the various designs shown in Photo 2.
The handsome metal black license plate frame measures 12-1/4″ x 6-1/4″, which is the standard size to hold state license plates. Frames are made from stainless steel, then powder-coated black for lasting quality.
Included with each frame is a packet of new attaching hardware, complete with black caps so the hardware doesn’t show.
Each frame comes with the decal already affixed. Most of the decals are white wording on a black background. Several decals are two colors (white and red) on a black background.
Notice the font style for the tagline “HIGH OUTPUT V6” decal matches the 3.8 sfi turbo hood emblems.
We also offer each decal separately in case you would like to apply it to any signs, a toolbox, etc.

Usually the more expensive GM cars have a nice holder for their Owner’s Manual.
Originally Buick put all the documents in a plain clear plastic bag. Since these turbo cars didn’t come with a holder in the car, we’ve designed one.
Our black vinyl Owner’s Manual holder measures 6-3/4" x 10" and fits perfectly in your glove box.
The words “A BOOST OF BUICK PERFORMANCE” appear in silver below the flap.
There are two business card holders on the flap. You can insert your insurance company agent’s business card or your mechanic’s business card.
This holder is great for storing the Owner’s Manual, Warranty cards, insurance papers, service records, etc.
It also makes a great gift item for any car enthusiast.

Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
