Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 09-16-2009
Last week we mentioned at how impressed I was at the car show portion of the Musclepalooza event in Englishtown, NJ.
It's always interesting to track down as much information as you can about your car.
In our June 3, 2009 Inner Circle, we discussed the two different Broadcast Sheets that are in your car.
Two more key reference sheets would be the Vehicle Invoice and the Window Sticker.
In order to get a proper reproduction of a Window Sticker, you need a copy or data on who was the original selling dealership. This would be on the vehicle invoice or in some of your papers that may be in your glove box. Sometimes the original selling dealer would have had an envelope with all the related paperwork, then placed it along with all the glove box booklets in the glove box.
In order to have a complete reproduction window sticker done, you need to have all the info, including the selling dealer.
If you are interested in having this done, GM Media Archive offers this reproduction Vehicle Invoice service for $50.
The site is - http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=3
At the Englishtown event I saw Jim Chaudrue from the MAGNA Club. Jim has used this service to get his vehicle invoice. The invoice would show the selling dealership from when your car was new and print out the various options with cost and retail prices of each option. Their fee is $50.
Once you get that, then you can contact Triple A Enterprises and get a reproduction Window Sticker. This company has been doing GM window stickers since 1979, first focusing on Corvettes and later expanding to most other GM cars from 1981 and newer.
He can also do certain model/year Chryslers as well.
Their website is - http://www.window-sticker.com or email - firstname.lastname@example.org
Triple A Enterprises has different options available and pricing depending on what you want.
So, for those owners not fortunate enough to have original documents these two sources can help you fill in the blanks. Its a well known fact, the more documents you have verifying your car the greater your car is worth in years to come. I know from experience on the 300 plus cars we purchased I always made sure to get all the documents, receipts I could from the seller as I knew the next buyer would want those items.
PHOTO 1 - Shows a typical original Window Sticker. Triple A Enterprises would send you a reproduction with your car's information in the proper format and size.
Photo 2 - Shows what a typical original Vehicle Invoice (top and bottom sections) would look like from the GM Achives. You would order this Vehicle Invoice first, in order to know what GM Dealership your car sold from when it was new. The reproduction may not look like this original Vehicle Invoice.
PHOTO 3 - Shows the original oil filter that came from the factory on the 720-mile 1987 Grand National we recently sold. Notice it is all black and has a rib around it about 1/4 the way from the front mounting side.
PHOTO 4 - There were several GTOs at the recent Musclepalooza event in Englishtown. There were at least 2 GTOs with the highly-desirable Hurst wheels. This photos shows something that is unique to the Hurst wheel trim ring... that circle reflection that can clearly be seen even in the shadows of the car next to it. No other trim ring that I am aware of produces this unique reflection.
This car was a black-on-black GTO and the Hurst wheels were pristine. Today, these wheels can fetch anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000 for a set, depending on condition and bolt pattern. That's decent money when you realize they were only available in a 14" x 6" size, and were actually a flop when they were sold new from 1965 thru 1969 by Hurst! Over the years, I have sold 23 sets!
NEW BUICK PART
If your original interior light assembly (lens and housing) is cracked, discolored or faded, you can replace it with this reproduction standard interior light assembly. It is the exact same size as the original. However, the original lens is plain and this one has a starburst design. The whole assembly would be replaced since this lens and housing are not interchangeable with the original.

1984-1987 Regal (Including Turbo Models) -
REPRODUCTION STANDARD INTERIOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY
This reproduction standard interior light assembly replaces the standard round interior light assembly, which may be faded or cracked. This new assembly is the exact same diameter as the original assembly. The lens looks almost identical to the original one, except it has a starburst design in it.
NOTE - This assembly only works as a complete kit with the lens that comes with the kit. This reproduction base will not work with the factory GM lens #6847 because the base tabs are different.
The Photo #1 on the web site shows the new interior light assembly with the starburst design.
Photo #2 on the web site shows this new assembly on the left and an original 20+-year-old assembly on the right.
Another excellent replacement for any interior restoration.
7243 - 1984-1987 Regal (Including Turbo Models) -
Reproduction Standard Interior Light Assembly $14.95
Part #6847 - 1982-1987 Buick Regal - GM DOME LIGHT LENS is now $6
If your original interior dome light lens is cracked or discolored, you can replace just the lens with this GM lens.
Click Here to see GM Dome Light Lens product page.
Part #6717 - 1984-1987 Regal - Windshield Washer Cap Chrome-plated Cover is no longer available.
NEW PART COMING
If you have a 1984-1987 Turbo Regal with the standard analog dash, you know in the bottom left corner of the dash it says, "LOW FUEL."
This was a Riviera option, which shares our same dash. It was never offered on the Turbo Regals but could be made to function by simply installing the special light socket that had the printed circuit board on the back. The same local source that made our new L.E.D. dash light setup now has a functional low fuel warning in the works. It will light up in the dash when you are low on fuel. It will even go one step further... when your fuel tank is very low, it will flash. The technology today has come a long way since 1984-1987, so this one will include a new light socket and have a small circuit board with prongs that will connect to the backside of the gas gauge.
Installation will be very easy, and will only require you to pull your dash cluster out a short distance on the left side to do the installation. Watch for an introductory price later this month!
This would be a great time to step up to the new L.E.D. dash lights as well, since the install is about the same for both items.
Again, both of these are ONLY for the standard analog-style dash cluster. We are real close to having this available.
SPECIAL SELL OUT
We have the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - GM Air Flow Duct (from turbo to MAF sensor), Part #6536 in stock for $61.95. Just a few left now.
TWO CARS FOR SALE
Two of our customers are selling their cars. Here is information on a new listing that will also appear on the web site.
FOR SALE - 1987 Grand National hardtop with under 90,000 miles. This car is local to our shop. I just saw this Grand National 3 weeks ago. The trunk ID label has been signed by Molly, while it was at one of our events.
Car has many of our parts on it, such as the braces and all new radiator hoses. Oil has been changed every 3,000 miles. Has a new stainless exhaust system. Upgrades include 30 lb boost gauge, Scanmaster, and Walbro 370 fuel pump. Must sell as her mechanic has left the area and she cannot give it the attention the car needs to maintain it. Contact Sallie at 215-766-7818. She is asking $11,500 or B.O.
Click Here to see the the Car For Sale page on the web site.
FOR SALE - 1986 Grand National. Locally, to us (about 10 miles away), a good customer of ours is selling his 1986 Grand National. Tom is having health issues and needs to sell his pride and joy. The Grand National on the outside looks identical to a real GNX, with the flares, louvers, emblems and wheels. (My son Darrell actually painted and installed the flares for him).
The body was taken down to bare metal and painted several years ago prior to Tom buying the car. The interior is quite nice. The engine compartment needs detailing. For more info, contact Tom Altmose directly at 610-253-8659. He is asking $14,900 or best offer. I recently have seen the car personally. It does have some minor modifications under the hood, like a cold air system.
For Sale - 87 Buick Grand National NO ENGINE & TRANS, otherwise pretty much complete, interior disassembled, very well optioned, Sunroof, Nice power seats, concert doors, NON POSI, Clean Title & Carfax, $2995 or B.O. - Call John - Home 508-520-1875 Cell 508-733-2894 - or Email - email@example.com for more info and photos available.

UNIQUE LOCAL EVENT TO US
Although not a Turbo Buick related car show event, this one local to us event deserves a special mention. The date is Sunday, October 18th, 2009 from 9 am until 3:30. Location is the Warminster Community Park, which is now part of the old closed down Johnsville Airbase. This is where we held several of our major Car Shows events in the early 1990s.
What makes this show remarkable are several things. It is hosted by the Early Ford V8 Club and this is the 40th year of this show. That means they did their first one back in 1969!
Another unique thing related to judging is none of their club members are eligible to win! They have Awards of Excellence for the Top 80 entries!
Frankly, I think it is nothing short of remarkable that they have conducted a car show now for forty years and over that time have made whatever adjustments they needed to do to keep it going. Since this event is in my area, I know it has been held in different locations over the years. Not that many years ago it was held in Warrington on the grounds of the only remaining drive-in movie theatre, which is now a location for Lowes and Target stores.
The event happens rain or shine, but we all know any type of bad weather hurts attendance.
For more info, contact John Murphy 215-674-6700 days or 267-716-555 nights/weekends.
Since it is early V8 Ford sponsored, maybe I will see a 1949-1950 Ford business coupe for sale. That's the one reason I usually go! Also, represents one of the last car show events in our area of the season.
If you do go, the entrance to this event is off Bristol Road by Hatboro Road, which is behind the old airbase! Weather permitting this event is well worth attending, especially if you reside in a 50-mile radius.

ABOUT OUR EMAILS
Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - email@example.com - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or not remember who requested the item.
Looking further ahead, November 7th and 8th we will be in Ocala, Florida at Don Garlits' 22nd Annual Mopar event. We'll be one of his special guests as a vendor selling ZDDPlus™ and the ZPaste™. We plan to contact the local Buick club and several of the Pontiac/GTO clubs in Florida to arrange a seminar in that general area at that time. Watch for more updates as the time draws closer. We hope to see many of our Florida customers at that time.
