REPORT FROM SPRING CARLISLE -
As many of you know, one of the biggest events every spring in our area is "Spring Carlisle." This year it was later in April than usual. I went on Wednesday to avoid the crowds, taking my brother with me who lives in nearby Lancaster.
Seems the older you get, the tougher it is to walk the distance covering the 90-plus acres of vendors.
PHOTO 1 - The top photo shows a Grand National for sale. Although on Wednesday not all the cars for sale were in the car corral, I did spot this super mint original low-mileage 1987 Grand National. It only had 5,600 original miles showing. The car still retained the new car smell we all want. By the way, the factory tailpipes were silver, not painted black on this car. The body side molding appeared to be the dealer-installed version. Unfortunately, it had no price on the window. The lower left photo shows something you old-time mechanics may recognize. Does this original Sun Motor Tester equipment look familiar? Need a set of bucket seats? This lower right photo shows a wide array of bucket seats available from this one vendor.
PHOTO 2 - Near the one entrance Ford Motor Division was setting up their massive display. The top photo shows their tractor trailer and the lower photo shows a close-up of their new 2012 Boss Mustang. It is the same color as their current print ads, a kind of like a burnt orange color.
PHOTO 3 - The top photo shows a very unusual 1954 Mercury. Although it was not as popular as the Fords, this one called the Sun Valley is quite rare. The lower left photo shows the one feature that makes it quite rare, the clear plastic top. The price tag to own it was $28,500. The lower right photo shows someone took a lot of time to lay all their parts out neatly in their space!
PHOTO 4 - Since selling GTOs and related parts was our first mail-order business, I checked out some of the prices on some of the options for the GTOs. This top left photo shows the desirable 1964 GTO optional plastic wood steering wheel. It was near mint and the price was a mere $2,200. Back in the day, the most I sold a wood wheel for was around $750. The top right photo shows a NOS 1969-70 four-speed GTO shifter knob. Takes $475 to own it. The lower left photo is of a 2008 Corvette, which was apparently stolen. So it now has a salvage title and is missing the motor. The lower right photo shows the asking price of $21,000 with the words "Make offer, I don't have any feelings, you can't hurt them."
Prices were definitely down as $5,000-$10,000 would buy you a very nice car from the 1970s and 1980s.
You can buy almost anything at Carlisle, I even saw a vendor selling Dyson vacuum cleaners that were floor models! Not something I would want to lug all the way back to where I parked my truck!
MORE INFORMATION ON DATE CODES -
In the 04-20-2011 Inner Circle, we showed the label on the driver's side valve cover. This label helps track the engine during production.
We recently heard from Anthony Petridis who has a wealth of information concerning this label.
Since there is a lot of information to explain and digest, Anthony has posted the information and photos on Turbobuick.com in the "Show Car and Restoration" section. We appreciate all the information Anthony has provided us as we all learn more about various date codes and labels GM used on our cars.

NEW PRODUCT -
1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
REPRODUCTION COWL SEAL
This new reproduction cowl seal goes under the hood on the back lip area of the cowl. In some cases, yours may be missing or no longer looks new.
The quality is excellent. It is easy to install as it simply sits snugly on the cowl lip.
It's another great reproduction item to enhance the engine compartment.
7321 - 1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
Reproduction Cowl Seal $29.95
ANOTHER PRODUCT SOON TO DISAPPEAR -
Part #7245 - Custom-made center armrest cushion for the 1984-1987 Grand National and GNX.
The source that makes these beautiful armrest cushions is discontinuing them. The price for buying the original pallex black and grey material has skyrocketed, making it too costly to continue to make using original material.
At this point, no decision has been made to offer something similar at some future date.
We now have just 4 that were made the original pallex material. Our price remains the same at $124.95 each plus shipping for the last 4 we have in inventory. If you need or want one, buy it now.

DISCONTINUED ITEM -
Part #7035 - 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - GM FUEL PUMP RELAY has been discontinued.
BREAKING NEWS - RARE 1987 REGAL LIMITED V8 - CAR FOR SALE -
What makes this car extremely rare is the fact it is a Limited with the WO2 black-out package and the T suspension package. Car is a V8. It has a white exterior with a grey cloth interior with just 64,400 actual miles. Garaged since new, never smoked in. Paint is mostly original. All the factory bumper fillers are original and perfect. The bumpers look like new, and don't even have any rain marks on them! Car has no dents and no dings. Extremely nice example, almost as nice as our personal 1987 Turbo-T. Projected price will be under $7995.
Although no production numbers are readily known, it would be quite difficult today to find one like this Limited. For more info and over 35 photos, email me direct at - email@example.com
UNUSUAL CHEVROLET PICK UP FOR SALE - LOWERED PRICE -
A local friend of mine, who has a small used car lot near me, is selling an unusual 1993 Chevy short bed truck. It is one of the rare Indy 500 trucks from May 1993. Not sure how many they produced. Truck is black with all the Indy decals intact and looks to be 100% stock and extremely clean. It does have 90,000 miles on it. Truck was just Pennsylvania inspected. NEW LOWER PRICE - $9,875. Email me if you or someone you know may be interested in this limited production Indy 500 Chevrolet pick up truck - firstname.lastname@example.org
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - email@example.com
CHECK IT OUT ON OUR WEBSITE -
We now have all the body bushings/cushions kits on our website.
Remember, these are the original rubber-style bushings/cushions to restore your ride like when it was new.
The longer you put off this project, the tougher it can be to remove the body bolts from the frame.
Here is a link to the bushings/cushions on our website -
FAST FIVE MOVIE -
It's opening week, the Fast Five movie did over $80 million! Although I have not seen it yet, my friend Greg Glenn saw it and said it was great... so great, in fact, he paid to see it again back to back.
He says be sure to stay past the end credits as they do another scene after all the credits roll. Personally, I have seen the first two Fast and Furious movies.
KIA RECALL -
The KIA recall affects about 58,000 of their 2004-2007 Spectra models. They only want to recall the cars in the cold weather states. Apparently, gas tanks may fall off the car and cause a fire! They will replace the gas tank straps with zinc-coated parts! I guess they assume owners that reside near the ocean won't have an issue and there is no chance a car registered in a southern climate will ever be resold in a northern climate?
So, a word of advice when traveling, if the car in front of your has a Spectra nameplate and has a northern state license plate on it, it's best to stay further back or pass it at the first opportunity!
ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -

2011 BUICK PERFORMANCE GROUP - JULY 29th - 31st, 2011 - HEBRON, OHIO -
The Buick Performance Group event will feature the Turbo Buick "step children" the T-Types and Pontiac's unclaimed child the Turbo Trans Am. The event is at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.
They have secured Scott Kelly to attend, as well as Denny Manner, Joe Guzek, Dave Roland, Ron Yuile. Denny has also contacted Tom Wallace in hopes that he will attend. The people mentioned have also contacted other retired Buick Engineers, including Mike Doble to have them attend. There will be displays and "tech" talks, so it should be very informative. I don't think there has ever been that many Turbo G-body Engineers in one place at one time. This is one event you do not want to miss this summer!
