Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 5-22-2009

It was great to see old friends and customers at the GS Nationals this year. This event is one of the few larger shows to feature Turbo Regals.

Long-time friend Ian Reeves and his wife and daughter made the long trip from Merry Old England. Also, several of our customers from Puerto Rico were there. Racing Jason and his crew out of Utah, the Gallina/Freeman team, and Kenny Duttweiler were all there. These are just a few Buick enthusiasts that came a great distance.

Overall, attendance for participants and vendors was up from last year. We did not see many Turbo Regals for sale like in previous years. As usual, Richard Clark worked on about 6 cars that had powermaster brake problems and he even worked on a stereo system.

World of Motorworks had his new GNX-style dash on display, complete with a plug-in harness produced by Casper's Electronics. This dash is the way to go, as we have not seen any other upgrade that match the quality of this unit in recent times. For more information, check out their website - www.worldofmotorworks.com

Unfortunately, weather again played a part in shortening the activities on Friday afternoon and Saturday as well. Racing was cancelled early afternoon on Saturday, since the track was very wet and it was getting too late to work all the racing into the remaining time.

One Turbo Regal was heavily damaged Friday on the racetrack, hitting the wall and flipping over several times. The good news, amazingly the driver walked away from the crash. I am sure photos of the accident can be viewed on some of the various Turbo Regal forums. Here is a link to one of the videos - http://febusfilms.com/scene/

Since the racing was cancelled, the TSA class did not get to run either. Initially there were 6 cars for this class prior to conducting the tech inspections. ZDDPlus™ is the sponsor of the TSA class. With its impressive payouts, this class is sure to grow in the future.

We are posting several photos from the GS Nationals on our web site Inner Circle - 5-22-2009.

PHOTO 1 - The first photo shows one of the mid 7-second North Carolina cars sponsored by ZDDPlus™. Thanks to Pete Hoffman for this photo.

PHOTO 2 - The second photo shows Richard Clark (from the back in the blue shirt) working on one of six powermaster units repaired during the week. This was a rare brown Turbo-T from Illinois.

PHOTO 3 - Third photo shows the Concours class for the Turbo Regals in line being judged on Friday. Center car pictured is Red Armstrong's from Ohio. Further back is a low-optioned 1986 Grand National that has less than 12,000 actual miles.

PHOTO 4 - The third photo shows the Gallina/Freeman powerplant, putting out over 1,700 hp. Pictured to the far left is Kenny Duttweiler who flew in to assist in fine tuning the car for the event.

The GM black passenger's side marker light is no longer available from GM, GM Part #0919874.

This is the side marker light that was used on all the 1984-1986 T-Types and 1987 Turbo-Ts with black-out package, WE4, Grand Nationals and GNX. This is the right hand side only (passenger's side) marker light that attaches to the headlight bezel.

We have a few left.

Remember, these are brand new, still in the GM wrapper. Price is $69.95 and shipping.

We also have the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - GM Air Flow Duct (from turbo to MAF sensor)
in stock for $61.95.

If you are a long-time customer, you may recall the "Touch and Go" Ignition Cut-off System. We sold hundreds of them from around 1992 until 1999. Matter of fact, at one of our Reunion events back in 1992, our son Darrell installed about 30 units in cars at the show.

This system has all the great features.

First, only one wire in your car gets cut, then it is run in a series to the unit.

Second, no switch gets triggered.

Third, it sets automatically 30 seconds after you shut your car off. Nothing to remember.

Lastly, no siren. (It does have valet mode)

So, even on an all-original car, nothing is visible under the hood to distract from that original car appearance. With no switch to trigger it, makes it difficult for a thief to figure out how to defeat the system.

This new unit will be based on the original design, only now everything internally will be digital. Since there has been great advancement in electronics, this newer design draws even less current and the control box is slightly smaller than the previous system.

We have a local source that is going to be making them for us. The projected price should be around $79.95 each.

This new "Touch and Go" system will work virtually on any car or truck that does not have an airbag. It is best suited for a vehicle that contains no other aftermarket electronic alarm system. The new Touch and Go system will come with easy-to-follow directions specifically for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals.

Watch for updates. After all, if your car gets stolen, we lose a customer!

Unfortunately, the economy is playing a major role in keeping prices stable or getting new stock on certain products. Because of the situation with GM, we had no idea on how our orders for original parts will be effected... we only know that the prices just keep going UP.

So, if you really need something, you might want to get it now before the price goes up or the part becomes discontinued.

Here are two items to note -

7188 - 1982-1987 Two-Door Buick Regal (All Models including Turbo Regals) -
GM Door Sill Plates (2) $169.95 / pair

7081 - 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - Reproduction Driver's Side Factory-style Exhaust Header

The best way to stay informed with the upcoming show season is to check out the various Turbo Buick forums.
