Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 5-27-2009

The day of reckoning for the future of GM will soon be here. It will soon be decided what will stay and what will go, and how much influence the government will have at the decision level.

It would appear on the surface of things (especially with higher mpg slated for cars and trucks), that in a few years, performance cars may take a back seat in production. We may be the last generation for a while to enjoy a wide variety of U.S. performance cars. If that is the case, I am sure many foreign carmakers will jump in to fill the void.

It's true, there is a segment of the car market who simply wants a dependable vehicle to go from point A to point B. But by concentrating on that market alone, it takes the fun and performance factor away from another part of the market. If that happens, it will surely cause the value to increase on virtually any nice performance car, simply based on the supply and demand principle.

Remember the gas crisis in the mid 1970s? Owners were selling off their performance cars. I can't even begin to count the ones I bought for under a $1,000 back then. The most I paid was $5,000 and that was for an original 1967 GTX Hemi car with a mere 22,000 miles.

While we were in Bowling Green, Kentucky for the GS Nationals, we found out the nearby Corvette factory is shut down several weeks every month.

Once the pre-sold new Camaros have been built, it will be interesting to see if the new Camaro enjoys a 2011 and beyond run. The same holds true for Chrysler with the Challenger. It appears that Ford may be in the best position of all financially, with possibly very little U.S. built competition.

The next few weeks may tell of things to come related to the automotive industry. Already one of the companies that make parts for us is closing its doors because they were making parts for one of the major U.S. car companies and that segment got cancelled.

We have discontinued The "Battery Maintainer/Charger 12-Volt System," Part #6743 and the "Battery Doc Sport Smart Battery Charger/Maintainer," Part #7187.

We now offer the "Battery Butler® for just $17.95 or 2 for $31.95 (see info below). We expect to have these in stock by the end of the week. You can also check them out on the web site - www.kirbanperformance.com

ALL Cars and Trucks -
BATTERY BUTLER® - 12-Volt Automatic Battery Storage Charger

This Battery Butler® is the least expensive method to retain a full battery charge on any 12-volt system in a car or truck in storage.

It's compact, small enough that you could actually leave it under the hood when not in use in most applications.

It is designed for long-term use. You can leave it connected to a 12-volt battery indefinitely. This unit provides a safe, 1/2 amp regulated charge. It prevents the self-discharge of the battery while extending the life of rechargeable 12-volt batteries rated from 5 to 125 amp-hours.

It has a red light indicator that indicates power to the module and a green light indicator that indicates the battery is being charged properly.

SPECIFICATIONS - Unit measures only 1-1/2" square by 1" deep, 12 volt DC, Input voltage 13.5 volts DC (only for use on 12-volt batteries), 1/2 amp.

The Battery Butler® automatic battery storage charger is designed for the maintenance of wet or gel-cell batteries that are stored or used periodically in such vehicles as cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, motor homes, ATVs snowmobiles, farm equipment, etc. - anything that uses a 12 volt system.

Since this can be used on all vehicles, you might want to purchase more than one. We offer a special price when you order two!

Another great item to use to maintain the battery while your car sits in the garage.

7231 - All Cars and Trucks - Battery Butler® - 12-Volt Automatic Battery Storage Charger $17.95

7232 - All Cars and Trucks - TWO - Battery Butler® - 12-Volt Automatic Battery Storage Chargers (2) $31.95 (save $3.95)

1986-1987 Turbo Regal -

These three hoses are made from the same woven material and color as original GM hoses, only these are thicker.

The two inlet pipe hoses (#1 & #3) are the same size for a nice snug fit. The smaller hose (#2) is for the turbo to intercooler.

This is a nice heavy-duty hoses upgrade for the engine compartment, while still retaining a factory original, stock appearance.

Another great engine restoration item.

NOTE - We currently only have a few sets of these available and will not have our main stock of them until the end of June. Do not confuse this heavy-duty set with the original-looking reproductions that we expect to also have around the end of June. Both versions look stock with the difference being the version described here is slightly thicker.

7228 - 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - Intercooler Stock-Appearing Heavy-Duty Hoses (3) Set $39.95 / set

1986-1987 Turbo Regal and 1989 Turbo Trans Am-

This reproduction flexible drain pipe is an exact reproduction of the original. One end will screw into the factory fitting located on the engine block.

This new drain pipe is made in the U.S.A. and is slightly more flexible than the original, which makes it easier to install. Comes complete with a new gasket.

Another great engine restoration item. These are in stock for immediate delivery.

7229 - 1986-1987 Turbo Regal and 1989 Turbo Trans Am -
Reproduction Turbo Oil Drain Pipe and Gasket $72.95

The GM black passenger's side marker light is no longer available from GM, GM Part #0919874.

This is the side marker light that was used on all the 1984-1986 T-Types and 1987 Turbo-Ts with black-out package, WE4, Grand Nationals and GNX. This is the right hand side only (passenger's side) marker light that attaches to the headlight bezel.

We have a few left.

Remember, these are brand new, still in the GM wrapper. Price is $69.95 and shipping.

We also have the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - GM Air Flow Duct (from turbo to MAF sensor)
in stock for $61.95.

If you are a long-time customer, you may recall that we used to sell the "Touch and Go®" Ignition Cut-off System.

We sold hundreds of them from around 1992 until 1999. Matter of fact, at one of our Reunion events back in 1992, our son Darrell installed about 30 units in cars at the show.

Our new "Touch and Start®" system has all those great features.

First, only one wire in your car gets cut, then it is run in a series to the unit.

Second, no switch gets triggered.

Third, it sets automatically 30 seconds after you shut your car off. Nothing to remember.

Lastly, no siren. (It does have a valet mode)

So, even on an all-original car, nothing is visible under the hood to distract from that original car appearance. With no switch to trigger it, makes it difficult for a thief to figure out how to defeat the system.

This new unit will be based on the original design, only now everything internally will be digital. Since there has been great advancement in electronics, this newer design draws even less current and the control box is slightly smaller than the previous system.

We have a local source that is going to be making them for us. The projected price should be around $79.95 each.

This new Touch and Start® stem will work virtually on any car or truck that does not have an airbag or a computer chip in the ignition key. It is best suited for a vehicle that contains no other aftermarket electronic alarm system. The new Touch and Start® system will come with easy-to-follow directions specifically for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals.

As you read this we should have all the directions done including a separate section complete with photos and illustrations designed specifically for the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals.
