Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 01-14-2015

We now have complete OE-style ignition, glove box, doors and trunk cylinder sets with pre-cut keys. Some of the cylinder lock sets fit from 1978 and up. See the New Products section for more exact details.

PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows the ignition cylinder with two matching pre-cut keys. This fits all 1978 through 1987 G-body cars including the Regals. The top right shows a NOS GM glove box knob and cylinder with two pre-cut keys. This fits all 1978 through 1987 Regal models only. The lower left photo shows the door lock cylinder set with trunk lock cylinder set with two pre-cut keys. This is the set with the black bezels and comes with all the hardware and gaskets. This kit would be correct for all 1981 through 1987 Regals that have the black trim. The lower right photo shows the correct lock cylinders kits for 1981 through 1987 Regals that used the bright bezels, which would be correct for the 1987 Turbo-T models. By offering complete kits, you can now have matching key sets for your doors and trunk. All the keys are pre-cut, so you don’t have to buy anything else.

The actual count of M&M in the glass was 608. I was amazed at how many guesses where under 300.

First place winner is Juan Rodriquez out of Illinois. He has been a customer of ours for over 15 years. This is the second time he has won a contest with us!

Taking second place was Thomas Maggio out of New Jersey. He has had his 1987 Grand National since buying it in 1987 and has been a customer since then.

Congrats to both of them and thanks to those that participated!

The year was 1948 and Ned Nickles who headed up the Buick Styling Studio at the time, owned a 1947 Buick Roadmaster convertible. He had cut portholes in the front fenders. What is interesting is the original idea was to put flashing lights in the three portholes in each side. They wanted the lights to flash in sequence as the spark plugs fired.

Harlow Curtice, who then was general manager of Buick, saw Ned’s car one evening and liked the look of the three portholes and ordered his designers to work that feature into the designs in 1949 minus the flashing lights. In 1949 one of the portholes had a flexible conduit that lead to a hole in the inner fender and into the engine compartment to let the hot air out. (An idea that can be seen on the GNX today, which uses a louver instead). Buick originally called them “venti-ports,” which would become one of the longest lasting and most recognizable automotive identifying features of all time.

I had never heard the story behind the Buick portholes. Actually the idea of having the lights flash in each of the portholes would have been pretty neat. Today that would be a very easy option to install.

BMW is another car model that comes to mind that has a recognizable feature - the kidney-shaped front grill work, which BMW has used for many years. This article appears in the February 2015 issues of Collectible Automobile.

Two magazines I have always found interesting are Muscle Machines and Collectible Automobile. I always find the articles in both of these magazine interesting. Also their articles are not limited by space for each article. In many cases they show the car or truck during the process of being restored. While many of you may think these magazines cater to the older antique car market, our Turbo Regals now fall into that same category!

We received our sample units of the new small multi-function jump starters. Also prototypes of another product they are working on for us.

The new smaller micro multi-function jump starter is slightly smaller than my wife’s Samsung Smart phone and weighs just under 7 ounces.

I wanted to give this new micro module the supreme test. My original goal was to go back last Saturday morning to that same salvage yard where the black Regal Limited is still sitting. It was that Regal that I did the initial test with the current module. That car has been sitting undisturbed for 8 years!

With Saturday temperatures at 10 degrees I was just not up to hiking back on the frozen ground to try it. Hopefully I will conduct the test with the new micro module soon on that same black Regal.

Our Turbo Regal has a completely dead AC Delco battery in it. It sits in our heated building at our house. (It’s a six-year battery that is now 8 years old!) It doesn’t even generate enough power to turn the interior light on when you open the door nor does the key even buzz when it’s in the ignition switch!

I tested the new micro unit and it started our Turbo Regal 8 times on a single charge before it failed! Keep in mind, this is jump starting a car with a 100% dead battery. I also tested it by jump starting a Suzuki motorcycle that had been sitting for over 30 days. This high-powered bike puts out 200 horsepower. Of course, our bigger unit started the motorcycle as well.

The company is still making a few changes in this new smaller module, so it is not yet available.

We have more of the larger modules in route to us. It is one of the most powerful ones on the market putting out 250 cranking amps and 500 peak amps for less than $100. It is this larger module that has very few limitations on what it can do. The new micro one does not have a flashlight.

PHOTO 3 - Shows both the new micro unit (all black) on the left sitting on the battery in our Turbo Regal alongside the black and red module on the right that we have been selling since last October. You can see the difference in the size of the two modules.

Here is a link to these Multi-Function Jump Starter parts on our website:

The company is starting to get inquiries on their products, which they forward to us since we are their U.S. distributor.

Now that we are the only supplier for the Multi-Function Jump Starter for this company is the U.S.A., we want to line up more distributors.

We are looking for distributors for this product. We currently have two price breaks - 5-9 units or 10 or more.

The product is very easy to sell and not limited to any specific car or truck owner. For pricing and more details, email me personally - [email protected]

One of the most rare pieces of literature that has a connection to the Turbo Regal would be the 1987 Gas Mileage Guide. This particular issue was printed in October 1986. It is a 14-page booklet that lists all the car and truck models, foreign and domestic.

The Turbo Regal for 1987 falls under the mid-size grouping and was rated at 17 miles per gallon for city and 25 miles per gallon for the highway.

PHOTO 4 - The photo to the left shows the 1987 Gas Mileage Guide. The photo to the right shows one of the inside pages. I wonder if fuel prices will ever return to what fuel cost in 1987?

After a discussion with our supplier, we are happy to announce a new lower price for a set of the GNX-TRANS AM-style 16 by 8 wheels, our part #7219. Wheels are available for immediate shipping.

Ideal to buy now at this great price, so you can be ready for the upcoming summer of driving.

The original price was over $1400. The new price is $1199, which includes ground UPS shipping to any of the basic 48 states! Price is for the entire package for a set of four GNX-Trans Am-style wheels, and includes 20 correct two-piece lug nuts, 4 chrome valve stems, 4 black center caps, and 4 reproduction GNX decals.

Here is a link to these wheels on our website:

We will soon have the correct-looking coil packs and ignition modules for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals available. In many cases, it is the harness connector on the coil module that can cause issues.

Both of these parts are made by the same company and have been properly tested by Richard Clark. The company even has a one-year Warranty on these two products.

Watch for word in next week’s Inner Circle.

If you have any ideas for usage of small batteries, we welcome your suggestions. Who knows, your idea may prove to be a winner for everyone.

Once again we need stock used 1986-1987 Turbo Regal turbo cores. Currently we will issue a $100 Letter of Credit for any you send us. Turbos need not be good, but must be complete with exhaust housing.

Email me first - [email protected] for shipping details. This helps us help others keep their cars on the road.

We had a special run made of the correct length 1984-1985 Turbo Regal grey spark plug wires.

I don’t believe any other source has these available in the proper lengths. These are not on our website. You must call our office to order - 215-766-1611 x 0 - specify 1984-1985 Turbo Regal Custom-Cut High-Performance Plug Wires. We have about 3 sets left. If you own a 1984 or 1985 Turbo Regal, don’t wait as we will not be running these again.

NEW SPECIAL LOWER PRICE - $39.95 plus $6 shipping.

From time to time, whenever we spot an unusual or an exceptional car or truck for sale, or one we have for sale, we will put a blurb in our weekly Inner Circle. Also any cars that our customers have for sale will be featured here and you can see their car with photos on our website as well. In this category we will run the descriptions for two to three weeks and, if there is no interest in that particular vehicle, it will be deleted the following week. Any new vehicles that we add will appear first, so the oldest listing would be at the end of this section.

If any of these vehicles perk your interest, email me personally - [email protected] - for more information and photos.

No vehicles for sale at this time.

If you have a tip or a discovery that you found that works on your Turbo Regal, drop us an email giving us the details so we can pass the info on to our readers. Remember, even with my knowledge, I don’t know it all. Simply email me at - [email protected]

These keys are brand new and are made by the same company that made them for GM. These locks come already pre-assembled with the keys pre-cut.

1983-1993 GM (Including 1984-1987
Buick Turbo Regal) - Reproduction DIAGNOSTIC ALDL CONNECTOR PORT

This reproduction cover simply slips over the ALDL connector located under the radio/heater. It’s a nice finishing touch even though GM never put a trim cover on the Turbo Regals. However, this was a factory item on some of the 1980s and 1990s Corvettes.

These photos show the interior placement with and without the trim cover on the diagnostic connector port.

Another nice interior restoration item.

Introducing one of the greatest products that makes charging your electronics easy - a single USB connector cord with 4 individual adapters. By having four different adapters into one cord, it eliminates the need to carry a specific cord for each of your different electronic devices. You can also charge several devices at the same time. It’s also handy if someone nearby doesn’t have their cord and their device needs to be charged.

Why have a different charging cord for all your various electronic devices? This single four way cord will fit most major brands of electronic devices, such as cell phones, tablets, iPads, notebooks, etc.

Cord is white and measures 14" long from end to end. There are four micro adapters with a USB connector at the opposite end. The USB connector plugs into any charger you have with a USB port.

One adapter has a 30-pin connector and another has a 8-pin connector, compatible for iPhones 3, 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, iPad mini, iPad air, and iPod. The other adapters will charge most android phones, such as Samsung Galaxy, S3, S4, S5, Nokia, Nexus, most older cell phones, and some GPS devices.

The cost for any single cord for your electronics is usually $15 or more and is usually more for the iPhones. This single cord with 4 individual adapters includes the two versions for Apple products besides two other connectors that virtually will work on all the other android phones, as well as older cell phones and some GPS devices.

It pays to buy two, since shipping is the same cost whether you buy one or two.

A very convenient 4-IN-1 cord that eliminates the need for different cords for your mobile electronic devices.

This is the perfect cord to keep at home and have another one at work. It also makes a great gift, since it's something everyone can use.

An excellent way to keep all of your electronics charged using one cord.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
Reproduction 3-BAR MAP SENSOR

The original map sensor is only a 2-bar, which will not allow the boost reading to go above 20 psi.

The 3-bar map sensor was a factory item found in the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. This 3-bar map sensor allows you to read boost values above 20 psi.

It will work with a stock boost levels as well.

Another nice upgrade that allows proper reading of boost values above 20 psi, if your Turbo Regal is modified.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

Like many of you in the frozen north part of the country, I can’t wait until spring arrives!
