Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 08-05-2009

NOW AVAILABLE - ZPASTE™ - The Ultimate Cam Assembly Lubricant - PHOTO 1

We now have the new ZPaste™ available and in stock. There is absolutely nothing available nationally, in the market today that comes near the abilities that this cam assembly paste lubricant. Not only is it the best to use for assembling a flat-tappet engine, but it works equally well on a roller setup.

The special formulation keeps ZPaste™ on contact points longer than other lubes, protecting parts from damage during initial start-up. After being dissolved in the oil, the components in ZPaste™ will continue to help protect engine parts during break-in.

This new ZPaste™ along with ALL the major competing brands have undergone over six months of testing.

When used in conjunction with ZDDPlus™ (4 ounce bottle) in a normal 4-6 quart oil capacity, no special break-in oil is required.

It comes in a 5/8-ounce packet, which is enough for one V8 application. The price is $6.99 plus shipping, Part #7240. NOTE: This may not be on our website until later this week.

We are confident most of the cam companies that are using and selling ZDDPlus™ will also start offering this with their new camshafts for the retail market.

Now with the new ZPaste™ and ZDDPlus™ we have both ends of the oil issues addressed making sure protection starts at the very beginning.

It was March of 1991 that we introduced the "Collector GNX Lead Crystal Iceberg". This gorgeous lead crystal measured 4-1/2" high by 3" wide by about 1" thick. The image of the GNX was etched into the crystal using a unique sand blasting method that retained the finest details. Under the illustration of the GNX, we put the words "A High-Performance Investment For the Fortunate 547."

At the time, the price for this GNX collectible item was just $21.95. Unfortunately, we do not have records on how many we sold. In looking through our old catalogs, it looks like we offered it through 1995.

It is pictured on our website as Photo 2 with this Inner Circle issue. Because it is crystal, it's hard to photograph. We put it in front of a black background, so the image could be seen. The actual piece is much more detailed than the photo shows.

If you're fortunate enough to have bought your Turbo Regal new or from a person who had bought it new, you may get some of the original paperwork that they would have gotten from the dealership with the car.

Photo 3 shows the "BUICK PROCEDURE FORMS LETTER PERFECT DELIVERY" 9" x 12" envelope they may have received that contained some of the original paper work. It also shows TWO of the 8-1/2" x 11" forms from 1986 that they may have in their files.

The one looks like it would hang from the inside mirror and is entitled "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DELIVERY PROCEDURE."

It basically provided a checklist out the various areas that the salesperson was supposed to go over with the buyer. This was used to be sure the buyer was familiar with all the options and operating areas of their new purchase. This form made 2 copies (one beige card stock with 1 NCR (carbonless paper) sheet on top) - White copy was the Customer Copy and the Hard Copy was the Sales Contract File Copy.

The other form is called "Customer Satisfaction Basic New Vehicle and Pre-Delivery Inspection Procedure." This goes into more detail, providing a checklist in 3 sections… CHECK, INSPECT AND PERFORM THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS, BASIC NEW VEHICLE INSPECTION, and PRE DELIVERY.

It had an area to check to make sure all the fluids were at the proper levels and everything is working properly. Some of the other operations to be checked included checking for any leaks, conduct an actual road test, check the appearance of the interior trim. One that I thought was interesting... "Check for proper assembly, fit and retention of parts and components, such as bumpers, moldings, grille, sill plates, and emblems." Obviously body fit had a lot of leeway on our Turbo Regals!

This form made 3 copies (one beige card stock with 2 NCR (carbonless paper) sheets on top) - White copy was the Warranty Copy, the Canary Copy was the Sales Department Copy and the Hard Copy was the Vehicle File Copy.

In our state (Pennsylvania) we have a yearly inspection and emissions. If you drive under 5,000 miles between inspections, you are emissions exempt. You still get a sticker for emissions, but it will read exempt on the visual side.

Photo 4 shows one owner's yearly inspection records. I recall buying a Grand National and the original owner went to great lengths to carefully save every state inspection sticker and emission sticker, along with the invoice documenting each yearly inspection from 1988 through 1995.

Usually if the owner is that meticulous, you can bet the car is way above average since the attention to detail usually crosses over to the rest of the car. It's always nice to see a car that has had such great care.

I was at a person's house the other day buying some non-Buick related items, and noticed a car covered up in the garage. The car has been sitting since around 1983. It was a 1965 Buick Wildcat convertible. What makes this an extremely rare one is the fact it has the 425 engine with dual quads.

The real clincher is, it's a factory four-speed with a console! Years ago his research indicates that only about 14 were made like this. This car needs a total restoration. At a quick glance, the car is very solid. Included with the car is about $5,000 worth of parts he has accumulated over the years. It is for sale, priced around $18,000.

You can email me direct - [email protected] - and we can provide you with his email and phone number. Car is located about 30 minutes from our location in Pennsylvania.

Since I will personally be gone most of next week (August 11th through the 16th), I'm having some of our office staff participate and write a small blurb for the Inner Circle! I will be at the "Back to the Bricks" event in Flint, Michigan. It should be, at the very least, be an entertaining Inner Circle next week!

We will be set up as a Bronze Sponsor (vendor) at the "Back to the Bricks" event in Flint, Michigan on August 12-15. Their website is - www.backtothebricks.org

This event attracted 20,000 cars last year over a 4-day period. They basically shut down most of Flint during the Friday and Saturday activities. It is run entirely by car people. Matter of fact, one of our customers is involved and emailed the info to us.

Paul Castle will be with us as well. Since the event attracts a wide variety of car owners, we will be selling ZDDPlus™, the ZPaste™, and various DVDs, etc.

This should be a huge event, so if you are able to make it, be sure to come see us. We'll be set up with the major vendors in the main area.

It's been a few years since I have been to Flint. I was there in the late 1980s and actually got a personal tour of the engine factory when they were building the 3800 engines. I was there again with my wife, I think in the summer of 1992 when we took delivery of our GMC Syclone in Pontiac, Michigan.

We have the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal - GM Air Flow Duct (from turbo to MAF sensor), Part #6536 in stock for $61.95. Just a few left now.
