BUICK LITERATURE - PART 9
Following up last week's Inner Circle, I tried to contact the company that actually did the printing on the GNX hardbound books. I couldn't find anything on them. It appears they are no longer in existence.
Today when you go to car shows you may see various autographs on radiator supports or, in the case of Corvettes, on the plastic fuel rail covers. Parts autographed like that can easily be removed and put on another car.
A few years back we came up with a unique idea. We wanted to have Molly sign something on our Turbo Regals that would be hard to copy and would easily verify that he did in fact autograph that particular Turbo Regal.
We decided the place that made the most sense for Molly to put his autograph was in the blank area of the trunk ID label. The GM's name for this is the "Service Parts Identification" label. Since it has the car's VIN number on it, this label would always be part of the car.
We offered this at the last two events Molly attended for us. Molly was kind enough to autograph anyone's label at no charge.
The first time we offered this to those that attended our Reunion event, the stamp we made read, "SIGNATURE SERIES." Darrell would stamp the trunk ID label and then Molly would sign his name above it.
The last time we offered this, the stamp we had made said, "MOLLY SIGNATURE SERIES." Molly would then sign his name above the stamping.
By changing the wording, you can tell which time he signed the label. The Molly Signature Series was the last event Molly attended for us celebrating my 60th birthday in September 15th-16th 2007.
Approximately 100-110 cars were autographed at each of the two events. So, fewer than 225 of the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals carry Molly's signature on the trunk ID label.
Of that number, maybe at the most 2-3 GNXs carry his autograph.
Even more unique is a small number of owners that attended BOTH of the last two Reunion events and had Molly autograph their label each time. Molly's name appears TWICE on their trunk ID label.
We even had several owners that could not bring their actual car, so they brought just their trunk lid to these events for Molly to sign.
Those that have Molly's signature on their trunk ID label are very lucky owners today. I am thankful I am among them as he signed my trunk ID label on the white 1987 Turbo-T we own.
PHOTO 1 - The photo on the right shows Molly signing my 1987 Turbo-T trunk ID label in my garage at my 60th Birthday Bash in 2007. The photo on the left shows a close up of the autographed label. Note my car has only a mere 52 codes! I figure the less options, the less things can go wrong!
PHOTO 2 - The photo on the shows my personal 1987 Regal Owner's Manual that I had Molly sign at that event in 2007. He pre-autographed the car show participant cards that we gave out that day to those that attended the two-day event. This card is shown in the bottom photo. It was meant to go in the show car windshield area to identify the car's owner, the year and model of the car, and what state they were from.
PHOTO 3 - Shows two more limited items from my 60th Birthday Bash. The T-shirt featured the car show logo we had done for the event, and was autographed on the front by Molly. We show 3 views of the T-shirt. The embroidered hat shown on the lower right photo was signed by Molly on the brim. These are two items I will always cherish. Not many of either of these two items were produced and I am not sure how many would have been signed by Molly.
PHOTO 4 - At the banquet we held Sunday we gave to every attendee an autographed Grand National Hot Wheels™ that Paul Castle (World of Motorworks) had donated for the event. This photo shows the package, the little car autographed in silver permanent marker by Molly on the roof, and the collector card that went with each Molly diecast car.
Paul sent us the brand new packages of Hot Wheels™ cars, we took them out of the package and sent just the cars to Molly in California, then he signed each one in silver permanent marker and shipped them back to us in Pennsylvania. Then we repackaged them in the original packs. We put the collector card with each pack in a clear plastic sleeve. These were given FREE to everyone that attended our Sunday banquet. Fewer than 200 of these were ever done. It was a terrific unique collectible for our guests.
It's hard to believe that event was 3 years ago this week.

HERE'S A CLEVER IDEA -
Each year it seems automotive Owner's Manuals get thicker and thicker. Hyundai, which has improved over the years, will soon release a new model called the Equus to compete with other high-end cars.
To solve the problem of printing a thick Owner's Manual, instead each new owner will get a new iPad with the Owner's Manual already downloaded to it.
A clever idea. It will be interesting to see if other high-end car manufacturers follow suit. I know one thing, when the car comes up for resale years later, the next owner won't be getting that iPad!
NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which ones you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - email@example.com

URGENT REQUEST - WE NEED Turbo CORES! -
We need stock 1986-1987 Turbo Regal turbos for cores.
For each complete turbo you send us, you will received either a check for $75 for or a Letter of Credit for $100 for any parts listed on our website. Just specify which you want for your turbo.
By sending us complete cores, it enables us to supply other owners with rebuilt units and also our TA 49 versions. The TA 49 turbos we sell require the use of the stock exhaust housing. By using that section, no low-end torque is lost in regular street driving.
THANK YOU for helping to keep the parts available for other Turbo Regal owners.
ALWAYS IN A BUYING POSITION WORKS -
Got any turbo parts you are not using? Why not cash them in for parts you need with a Letter of Credit. Simply email me a list - firstname.lastname@example.org -
Also, we are still buying dead or partially dead 1984-1987 Turbo Regals under $4,000 that are within 250 to 350 miles of our location.
GM PARTS UPDATE -
It appears that the GM supply of the factory 1986-1987 GM factory original molded boost line kits are dwindling and may already have disappeared from GM's warehouses inventory. We currently have a decent supply of them.
This is a very critical part, for any 1986-1987 Turbo Regal, since it is needed to control boost. They have 3 specially formed hoses with a special size diameter T in between two of the molded hoses. These also have the GM wording on them.
Over a period of time, heat can cause the hoses to swell and crack. While they last, we have them available for $44.95 plus shipping, Part #6644. Supplies are limited.
