A CLOSER LOOK AT REAR SEAT BRACES -
Looking back over the years, the first time we offered the 4-piece seat brace kit was in our 1994 catalog. The front frame brace kit first appeared in our 1991 catalog. This was probably because the front frame braces were a GM existing part used on another G-body car. I am referring to our part #6564, the front braces that went under the front end.
The 4-piece rear seat brace kit was first developed by one of our subscribers, who still to this day makes them for us. By far, it has proven to be the most popular brace kit available for the Turbo Buick. It's part #1586 and the price is $72.95.
We also offer another version from another source that has duplicated the actual GNX-style rear seat brace kit, Part #7169 for $129.95. Either kit is a worthwhile investment.
Like all the various brace kits offered for our cars, there is no downside. The benefits are well documented among owners that have installed them.
The reason I am mentioning this, is because I recently sold for a customer of ours a 1990 notchback Mustang that had a mere 5,500 actual miles. This 5.0 notchback is 100% pure stock. I have it loaded on my trailer and when I opened the trunk I noticed that even Ford use a similar cross brace in the trunk of their popular 5.0 notchback Mustangs.
Not being a Mustang expert, I have no idea if this welded brace was only used in the 5.0 or was used in all the notchback Mustang Fox body cars during the mid-1980s through 1993.

The top right photo shows the trunk of a Regal with no rear seat braces. The lower photo shows our Part #1586 rear seat brace kit in our personal 1987 Turbo-T. It's a simple principle that every Turbo owner can agree on that works. The question is, does your Turbo Regal have either the rear seat brace kit or the GNX-style brace kit?
As many of you know, besides doing the GNX project, ASC is also well known for making astroroofs or "sunroofs," as they are also called. Besides making the electric slider-style that can be found in some Buick Regals, they also produced other versions that were referred to as "pop-up" style sunroof. These can usually be found on smaller cars, such as the older Fox body Mustangs. This particular Mustang has an ASC pop-up style sunroof.

GNX owners will recognize the ASC logo on this brochure. Notice the technical name for their pop-up roof is called the "SKYMATE Open-Air System." The brochure goes on to state that ASC was the first original-equipment sunroof company in the United States.

ORIGINAL PARTS -
Russ brought over another brand new Turbo Regal part the other day - the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal intercooler shroud.

According to my 1987 December GM Price Book, this retailed for just $44.50. In my March 2001 GM Price Book, it shows it was discontinued in May of 2000 with no price shown. This part has been gone now for almost 12 years! Unfortunately, I do not have any GM Price Books between 1987 and 2001 to see what it did sell for at the end. If I had to guess, I would say the list price was probably over $150.
CLEANING PRODUCTS -
We all have our favorite products used for cleaning and detailing, not only our Turbo Regal(s), but our other cars/trucks as well.
Most late-model cars today have gone to plastic headlights. The quality of the plastic varies from car model to car model. Over a period of time, weather and exposure can turn them yellow and vastly reduce your visibility at night.
PHOTO 4 - Our secretary, Christina has a brand x car (Nissan Altima) and I noticed her headlights were in terrible shape for only being a few years old. I recently bought this product made by Blue Magic. One bottle is a cleaner and the clear bottle is a protective coating that you apply after you clean the lens. The top left photo shows the passenger's side headlight on Christina's car prior to me cleaning it. The top right photo shows the same headlight after I cleaned it. The lower photo shows both products - HEADLIGHT LENS RESTORER and HEADLIGHT LENS SEALER. Both are available in most auto stores.
It only took a few minutes. It's nice that you can do it by hand and get these results. If you use a white cotton cloth, you can see the yellow residue on the cloth. Of course, the key is to do it on a regular basis and not to let the plastic headlights get that yellow. I am sure other products exist as well, but this product produced great results with very little any effort.

This is a plug and play setup to help tune and troubleshoot. It records at 25 frames per second. It has been available for several years and has a proven track record.

It connects to a USB port on a laptop (needs Win98SE, 2000, XP, Vista). Simply plugs into the ECM and a slight modification of the ECM case is necessary. It’s very easy to do.

Below is all the information on this new reproduction upper dash trim panel. We have an actual production part in house, and it is dead-on identical to the factory upper dash panel. The big advantage is these new panels are molded in grey, rather than blue like GM did.
NEW REPRODUCTION UPPER DASH TRIM PANEL -
As many of you know, the upper dash trim panel was discontinued a while ago from GM. Some have appeared on eBay fetching $250 or more. Finding one not cracked or warped is like finding a good used powermaster brake bowl. Slim at best!
Well, we have some good news. One is currently being made that is injection molded, just like the original. This first run is being produced in grey color rather than how GM did it in an off-color blue. We have seen an actual finished part and it is dead-on accurate to the original. So much so, you would not see any difference between two new ones if you saw them in a photo or even in person.

Today, an original upper dash trim panel is usually cracked on most original Regals. It sits between the upper dash pad and the windshield.
This reproduction upper dash trim panel will fit any 1978-1987 Buick Regal and is made by the same process that GM used originally, injection molded. The quality is excellent. We have seen a production sample and it is dead-on match to the original GM panel. The grey is impregnated into the plastic, which will closely match the original Grand National grey trim colors.
The panel comes in grey and can be painted to match the interior of your car.

Racing is FREE on Wednesday, October 17th. The new dates are Oct. 17-20, 2012. Because of the reschedule, they have negotiated FREE racing on Wednesday, October 17th. Reproduction BUCKET SEAT CUSHION BUNS
Over time, the seat cushions deteriorate, especially the driver's side.
We offer reproduction seat cushion bun replacements for the 1978-1987 front bucket seats.
These are made for the 1984-1988 Monte Carlo SS, but will also fit 1978-1987 Buick Regals. However, these will not work if you have the Lear Siegler bucket seats.
If you are having the interior restored, this is the time to replace the seat cushions.
NOTE - We recommend these seat cushions be covered by an upholstery shop.
Seat cushions are drop shipped to you and the box is oversized, so shipping is calculated accordingly.

POWERLOGGER SCAN TOOL
This is a plug and play setup to help tune and troubleshoot. It records at 25 frames per second. It has been available for several years and has a proven track record.
The most advanced data-logging scan tool available today for the 1986-1987 Turbo Buicks and 1989 Turbo Trans Ams.
It connects to a USB port on a laptop (needs Win98SE, 2000, XP, Vista). Simply plugs into the ECM and a slight modification of the ECM case is necessary. It’s very easy to do.
Comes with a chip to update a Scanmaster 2.1 to the 2.2 version, so the Scanmaster can be connected to the Powerlogger for faster updating, wideband and boost display.
Powerlogger comes with complete directions explaining all of the various features. It can review, monitor and record.

Below is all the information on this new reproduction upper dash trim panel. We have an actual production part in house, and it is dead-on identical to the factory upper dash panel. The big advantage is these new panels are molded in grey, rather than blue like GM did.
NEW REPRODUCTION UPPER DASH TRIM PANEL -
As many of you know, the upper dash trim panel was discontinued a while ago from GM. Some have appeared on eBay fetching $250 or more. Finding one not cracked or warped is like finding a good used powermaster brake bowl. Slim at best!
Well, we have some good news. One is currently being made that is injection molded, just like the original. This first run is being produced in grey color rather than how GM did it in an off-color blue. We have seen an actual finished part and it is dead-on accurate to the original. So much so, you would not see any difference between two new ones if you saw them in a photo or even in person.
Because we know this will be a popular item, we are offering you a special introductory price so we know in advance how many to have order. The suggested retail price will be $199.95. If you call our office now and place your order, the price will be just $179.95. To lock in at that introductory price, we require a $25 deposit.
This introductory price is only good until Friday, March 30th, noon eastern time. We fully expect to be able to fill our orders by the first week of April. We will be one of the very first sources to have them available.

REPRODUCTION UPPER DASH TRIM PANEL
Today, an original upper dash trim panel is usually cracked on most original Regals. It sits between the upper dash pad and the windshield.
This reproduction upper dash trim panel will fit any 1978-1987 Buick Regal and is made by the same process that GM used originally, injection molded. The quality is excellent. We have seen a production sample and it is dead-on match to the original GM panel. The grey is impregnated into the plastic, which will closely match the original Grand National grey trim colors.
The panel comes in grey and can be painted to match the interior of your car.
For other colors, we offer some interior color spray paints (see Miscellaneous Section.)

2012 GS NATIONALS - OCTOBER 17-20, 2012 (NEW DATES)

Racing is FREE on Wednesday, October 17th. The new dates are Oct. 17-20, 2012. Because of the reschedule, they have negotiated FREE racing on Wednesday, October 17th. This includes "everyone" who comes thru the gate and pays the usual nominal entrance fee. There is NO usual additional charge to race your Buick powered cars on Wednesday.
The BCA (Buick Club of America) will be joining the GSCA event. This combination will make for a well-rounded event featuring all kinds of Buicks. This is one fall event you do not want to miss!
