Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 04-05-2017 -

SUBTLE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE 1986 AND THE 1987 TURBO REGALS -

Many of you probably think that the parts on the 1986 and 1987 Turbo Regals are all the same across the board. Until you see several 1986-1987 Turbo Regal at one location or remember certain features from previous turbo events, you would think that certain parts are always going to be the same.

This is not always the case.

I recently came across two photos that clearly show that various differences do exist on the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals.

PHOTO 1 - The photo on the left shows 3 different original turbo inlet pipes. As you can see, they range from having a very smooth bend to the far right pipe showing a number of wrinkles in the bend area of the inlet pipe. The photo to the right shows two different Turbo Boost gauges. The top one shows just 0 and 15 psi. The bottom one shows the actual numbers for 0-5 -10-15. Having just checked the boost gauge in my personal 1987 Turbo-T, it has the 0-5-10-15 format. What does the boost gauge show on your car’s analog dash cluster?

LIKE UNWRAPPING A CHRISTMAS GIFT -

It was like unwrapping a Christmas gift this past Sunday. With our Spring Open House now just a few short weeks away, it was time to uncover our sleeping 1987 Turbo Regal from its winter nap. After I uncovered the 10 blankets and towels on the car, I cranked the engine to life. No dash lights came on, so that means everything is good. Not even a hint of any dry knock from sitting.

Our gas tank was already filled last year with 100 proof fuel, so a quick blast down the road was made in quick order. It’s nice to have at least one vehicle in the stable that increases in value every year instead of decreasing in value.

PHOTO 2 - The top left photo shows our white Turbo-T after I uncovered it. It sits horizontal in our pole building which is deep enough. You can see the GNX painting on the wall behind it, which was done about 10 years ago. A mural like the GNX will be around a long time for the next home owner to admire. The top right photo shows a copy of the picture with a real GNX under the painting that was used as a guide for the artwork.

The bottom left photo shows an original light-up Buick Tri-Shield dealer display sign from over 20 years ago. This probably weighs over 75 pounds and is several feet tall. Richard Clark and I each bought one of them at the GS Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky one year. The bottom right photo shows two shelves I have in the pole building that contains various original car dash clusters. Hanging above it is one of my signs that used to be on my 1947 Studebaker pickup truck back in our towing days. We owned our own towing business for over 20 years.

PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows an original Grand National fender emblem that I had cemented into the concrete floor when it was poured in the pole building. The top right photo shows an original hand-painted wooden sign from Hurst, listing some of their speed shop distributors. This rare sign would be from the 1960s. The bottom left shows pictures from some of our various events over the years. The top left picture is signed by Molly and the top right photo is signed by Davy Jones of the Monkees. The bottom right photo shows some of the other various events and some of the vehicles we had over the years. It also shows a newspaper article featuring Eileen alongside our 1963 Corvette. The article was about her winning top prize at Car Craft Nationals event in the woman’s division, clocking the fastest time on an obstacle course. The Corvette was a Hurst 4-speed. This is from the early 1970’s.

FACTORY BUICK REGAL CDS -

As many of you know, I frequent several major salvage yards on the weekends. I supply several vendors with used parts, have gotten several great ideas from various cars, and it provides a lot of exercising in the form of walking. I have even bumped into people that either know me or know some of the companies we deal with!

This past weekend, for the first time I discovered two Buick Regal CDs in cars in the newer front-wheel drive Regals.

PHOTO 4 - We show both Regal CDs and the black Buick manual holder. One is still factory sealed in the wrapper. The other has been opened. I surmise they are from the late 1990s. All 3 items are for sale in the Rare Parts section.

NOT A GOOD TIME TO HAVE TO COMMUTE IN ATLANTA GEORGIA -

The next few months will be a nightmare for those that live in the city of Atlanta and have to drive during rush hour, thanks to one Atlanta resident that started a fire under the interstate. I think the people of Atlanta ought to write the local Atlanta newspaper to suggest a proper punishment for that individual. Make it something creative for the gigantic nightmare he has inflicted on so many people.

THE WRITING SEEMS TO BE ON THE WALL -

The writing seems to be on the wall that the department store Sears may not make it through the current year. Many of its brand name assets have been sold and the situation looks bleak for this long-time retailer. Some of us may recall when it was called Sears & Roebuck. Mr Roebuck got out years ago.

THESE THINGS MAKE NO SENSE TO ME -

In my daily travels, I see several things that make no sense to me.

For example, two houses side by side. Each house has its own fence. So, on the one side between the two houses fences is about 4 feet apart, leaving a narrow path between the two fences. It makes me wonder who cuts that narrow path of grass between the two fences? If one neighbor erects a fence, wouldn’t that be enough? Seems pointless to erect two fences along the same border.

I also pass a very small house that looks quite nice, but is maybe at most 1500 square feet, one floor, with no garage and very little property. Every day I see this high-dollar, extremely nice original-looking GM 1969 muscle car sitting on the stone driveway.

It is like a toss-up as to which is worth more - the car on the stone driveway or the small little house. This car is a very highly sought-after model and always has been. The car value currently is close to six digits, according to my Price Guides. I may be wrong, but I think in a few years the car will fetch more money than the house.

LOCALLY TO US IS AN EXTREMELY NICE 1999 WINNEBAGO FOR SALE -

The 1999 Winnebago is owned by a woman, well maintained and serviced, non-smoker vehicle, V-10 power. There are no mold issues as this was used frequently over the years. Owners are moving out of the country. Ford chassis 20,500 GVW 37-foot long. It has all new individual window awnings. Well optioned. Sold new for $97,900. Buy it for just $16,900. This is an extremely nice example. I did not spot one single dent in this motor home. I can provide photos. I am good friends with the owner of this small local dealership near our house. I bought some of their cars and have found buyers for some of their cars over the years. Email me for photos and complete print out of the options and equipment - [email protected]

SPRING OPEN HOUSE UPDATE -

Since this is our 30th year and with such a large assortment of donated raffle items, some of you may be coming in Friday night and may be looking for a motel in our area.

The closest town to us is Quakertown that has 5 major motels. Quakertown is about 20 minutes from our location. The motels there are Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, Hampton Inn, Spring Hill Suites, and Quality Inn. The Marriott and Holiday Inn Express are both fairly new motels.

All are located by the northeast extension of the PA Turnpike and Route #663.

OPEN HOUSE SPECIALS -

Here are some of our Open House Specials on some of our large parts and some parts we are discontinuing. In some cases, we show the number available of those items that are being discontinued.

If you contact our office now and pay for the item(s) you want, you will be assured your order will be put aside for pick up at our Spring Open House on April 22nd. That is the only way we will hold the specific part(s) for you. In some cases, these parts are limited in quantity. On the larger items, like the Pypes exhaust system and hood pads, you will need to bring a SUV or truck to our event.

Below is the list of parts with the part number and the special Open House show price. If the part has a count with it that means it is being discontinued and that is all we have.

Remember, to avoid disappointment you need to pay for any of the above items you want in advance, so it is put aside with your name on it at our upcoming Spring Open House. In the cases where we listed the actual count available, those items are being discontinued. So those parts are limited.

1984-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
GM LICENSED - EMBROIDERED
“BUICK MOTORSPORTS” SEAT ARMOUR™ BLACK SEAT COVERS
“T-TYPE” SEAT ARMOUR™ GREY SEAT COVERS
“GNX” SEAT ARMOUR™ BLACK SEAT COVERS
“GRAND NATIONAL” SEAT ARMOUR™ BLACK SEAT COVERS

Because of the value of original, Grand Nationals, T-Types and GNX seats, it’s best to protect them from stains, odors, and fading from the sunlight.

We are the exclusive distributor for these GM licensed embroidered Seat Armour™ seat covers.

This Seat Armour™ seat cover is a simple slip-on cover that slides over the head rest, which secures the top of the cover in place. It just covers the seat portion, not the headrest.

The cover installs in seconds. There are no straps or elastic and no other attachments are needed. You simply slide it over the headrest and it drapes over the seat.

The GM licensed “Buick Motorsports” logo is embroidered in the logo colors - red, yellow and silver on black material, part #7751 and #7752. The embroidered logo measures 9" x 2-1/2". It is machine washable 100% heavyweight cotton velour terry material.

The GM licensed “T-TYPE” logo is embroidered in the logo colors - red and silver outlined in black on grey material, part #7753 and #7754. The embroidered logo measures 7" x 1-3/4". It is machine washable 100% heavyweight cotton velour terry material.

The GM licensed “GNX” logo is embroidered in the logo colors - red and silver on black material, part #7755 and #7756. The embroidered logo measures 7" x 2-1/2". It is machine washable 100% heavyweight cotton velour terry material.

The GM licensed “Grand National” logo is embroidered in the logo colors - orange, red and silver on black material, part #7757 and #7758. The embroidered logo measures 7" x 2-1/2". It is machine washable 100% heavyweight cotton velour terry material.

It can be folded and stored in the trunk when not in use.

It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It’s a quick and simple way to protect the seats.

Our photo on the left shows this one-piece seat cover laid out so you can see the shape. Photo in the middle shows the original driver’s side seat, and the photo on the right shows the cover on the seat.

Our other photos show the various options of designs.

We offer each design as a single cover. If you want to cover both seats, there is another part number for two covers.

This is another great interior item to protect your car seats.

NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE -

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be use you are using the current version.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me direct - [email protected] - I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. Since expanding into used parts, I get a lot of emails and sometimes I may forget your request or may not remember who requested the item.

IN CLOSING -

Remember our Spring Open House has no rain date. Please bring any of the cores we are seeking as it saves you shipping and helps us continue our rebuilding service for these critical parts that other owners need.

I am having something custom made specific for our Open House. We are only getting 20 of them made.
