GNX #331 - UPDATE -
Ross, the new owner of GNX #331 flew in from Texas late last Thursday, and left Friday late morning from our home to his home in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Ross was amazed at how nice the GNX was. He found it hard to believe that the woman who owned it simply drove it to the store as an everyday car for 20-plus years and never got any door dings! When her and her husband purchased the used GNX in 1989, they simply were shopping for a Regal and saw the GNX on the dealer lot. To them it was just a nice car and she drove it as such! It was her only car since 1989. Her husband owned a 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck that we featured the other week for sale.
Ross drove straight through - 1,500 miles - and the GNX ran flawlessly.
Since he has owned 4 other Grand Nationals, he says this GNX was the tightest Turbo Regal he has owned. The GNX had zero wind noise on the highway. The factory original R12 AC worked flawlessly, as did the car. This is one GNX that was properly maintained will always be worth a minimum of what he paid for it. Best part is, it’s one that he can drive and enjoy!

This GNX represents the first Turbo Buick we have sold since 2009. It was ten years prior to that in 1999 that I sold 44 Turbo Regals and again in 2000 I sold 44 Turbo Regals. Those days are now long gone!

POWERMASTER ARMATURES -
Last week we mentioned the fact that many of the armatures in the electric motors on the powermasters are burned up, which adds additional costs to getting them rebuilt.

AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP WHERE TIME VIRTUALLY HAS STOOD STILL -
Every month I have to go pick up parts from a company in our old neighborhood where we lived in 1970-1972. We actually lived across the street from this shop. Back then we had a towing business. One of the shops I towed for was run by two Italian brothers. They are still in business today.
The one brother is 78 years old and the other is 80 years young. The other day I had our Turbo Regal out and stopped to see them and catch up on old times.
It’s amazing… to me the shop looked like it did over 30 years ago.
PHOTO 4 - The top left photo you can clearly see a red Alfa, and behind it up on a lift is a XKE coupe, 1969 vintage. The top right photo shows a huge array of various tools that cover a wall. The bottom left shows another foreign car, which I believe is an Alfa sedan that looks like it has not moved in several years. The bottom left photo shows an array of parts and supplies that almost totally cover another car that is in the shop. The bottom right photo shows part of their office wall. I think if I looked hard enough, I would be able to find my old business card from when I towed for them.
One of the brothers wants me to find a buyer for their parts. They have a lot of parts, many of which are brand new for British and Italian cars. They also have some Volkswagon parts. One brother also has a DeLorean that belong to one of John Delorean’s brothers. The car is museum quality with 12,000 actual miles. This car is painted black and gold. They also have engines for MBGs and I believe some Alfa engines as well. They want me to find a buyer for their collection.

INTERESTING CLASSIFIED CAR ADS -
I recently saw these two ads in a local Auto Locator magazine. One was describing a 1993 Corvette, “Invigorating High Performance Car gently used.” From what I remember having owned several C4s you had to at least have a 1996 model with the optional LT4 engine coupled to a six speed to own a C4 Corvette that put out any real performance. Most C4 Corvettes you see for sale can be had for under ten to twelve grand. Exceptions being the Grand Sport model or any with the optional LT4 engine or any that had low production figures.
The other ad was for a 2015 Corvette ZO6 with just 10 miles on it. The ad says the owner traded it in on a new ZO7 package Corvette. The Corvette has just 10 actual miles. Sounds like the owner must have just drove it home and parked it!
A WORD ABOUT MANICURED LAWNS -
Most homeowners try to achieve that perfect manicured lawn and usually we all fall short. You have a bare spot, so you seed it, fertilize it, and water it, and it still fails to take root.
A dandelion on the other hand, can grow in a crack on your sidewalk and you can step on it every day and it still thrives.
The perfect lawn exists mainly in three places. They can be found at golf courses, ball parks, and funeral homes. I have yet to see a bad lawn at any of these places.
I remember years ago I was at a meeting with an automotive company that used to buy our parts. As I was talking to the sales person, I looked out the window and noticed this person riding a mower and going up and down the paved driveway of the funeral home in even rows. I could not understand what he was doing until I asked the person I was talking to.
He said every week the caretaker of the funeral home will run the mower up and down the driveway to blow away all the cinders on the driveway.

ORIGINAL GM AC DELCO HEATER WATER VALVE -

Reproduction 3-PIECE and 1-PIECE REAR SPOILERS
These reproduction 3-Piece and 1-Piece Rear Spoilers fit all two-door Regal models from 1984 through the 1987 Regal models, including all the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals.
These reproduction spoilers are made by Spoolfool Productions, which also makes the popular one-piece rear fillers and two-piece front fillers. The same high quality can be seen in these two versions of rear spoilers which are made in the USA using hand laid fiberglass in gloss black gelcoat. Due to the nature of these materials, small imperfections; pits, scratches, air bubbles, etc. are to be expected and are normal for this type of product.
The gelcoat is meant to be painted over, however, many customers are happy with the way they look right out of the box.
Each spoiler comes with mounting screws.
Spoilers are ready to install. Some holes may need to be slightly elongated, as every car is unique from the factory.
The three-piece rear spoiler is an exact match to the original GM Grand National rear spoiler.
The one-piece rear spoiler simply attaches to the trunk lid and over laps both of the rear quarter panel corners. This is similar to the Monte Carlo factory rear deck spoiler.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT HANGER LOOP
Over time, the factory catalytic converter rubber hanger loop can break away from the original metal catalytic converter bracket.
This rubber exhaust loop can easily be modified to replace the original worn out rubber hanger part on the original rear catalytic converter hanger.
As long as the original metal hanger is still in good shape, you can install this part to replace the rubber loop part on the original hanger. We include mounting hardware, if needed.
The entire factory hanger is no longer available from GM.

It would also be a great gift for your mechanic.
This very detailed manual took over three years to do. Even if you lack mechanical skills, this Guide is worth having to share with your mechanic. It is full of highly-detailed photos and charts, showing all of the possible problems and solutions for diagnosing a powermaster brake unit. Everything can be done using basic hand tools. The Guide runs 90 pages in length.
Here are some of the chapters: Major Component Descriptions and Nomenclature, Powermaster Characteristics During Normal Operation, Common Problems and Which Tests to Run to Address Each One, Flowcharts to Help Diagnose Problems Correctly, The Major Components and How to Test Each One, Maintenance, Tools and Accessories, and Vendor List and Contact Information.
It is spiral bound for easy reading when you are working on the powermaster. As long as the electric motor is not burned out, everything else is available for you to repair a powermaster on your own with this handy Guide.
They also have made all the various O-rings that you need to rebuild a powermaster brake unit. In some cases, they had to have parts reproduced. For example, GM sold just one of the O-rings in the kit for over $30 each. This Powermaster Reproduction O-rings (14) kit is only $39.95, part #7676.
I don't think anyone has more experience with powermaster brake units than Richard Clark. Over the years, he has even made special testing equipment for not only the powermaster brake units but also for other electronic parts found in the Turbo Regals.
He worked with John Norton to compile this easy-to-follow and informative powermaster repair Guide, so you can become better educated on powermasters and not be stressed out the first time the brake light comes on!

POWERMASTER REPRODUCTION O-RINGS (14) KITS
Richard Clark has painstakingly put together this kit of reproduction O-rings specifically for the Turbo Regal power master.
Each kit consists of 14 O-rings, some of which Richard has reproduced to make this a complete kit for the entire powermaster brake unit. It includes not only the O-rings for the brake switch and accumulator bowl, but also the very important power piston sleeve, check valve body master cylinder, etc.
Each package includes a real-size drawing to ensure that the correct O-rings can be easily identified for the proper application. The O-rings should match the drawings exactly.
Since GM has discontinued many of the Buick O-rings, Richard has had to have some of the O-rings reproduced. In one particular case, the O-ring listed for over $30 from GM, making this kit a bargain.

GNX #331 - UPDATE -
Ross, the new owner of GNX #331 flew in from Texas late last Thursday, and left Friday late morning from our home to his home in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Ross was amazed at how nice the GNX was. He found it hard to believe that the woman who owned it simply drove it to the store as an everyday car for 20-plus years and never got any door dings! When her and her husband purchased the used GNX in 1989, they simply were shopping for a Regal and saw the GNX on the dealer lot. To them it was just a nice car and she drove it as such! It was her only car since 1989. Her husband owned a 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck that we featured the other week for sale.
Ross drove straight through - 1,500 miles - and the GNX ran flawlessly.
Since he has owned 4 other Grand Nationals, he says this GNX was the tightest Turbo Regal he has owned. The GNX had zero wind noise on the highway. The factory original R12 AC worked flawlessly, as did the car. This is one GNX that was properly maintained will always be worth a minimum of what he paid for it. Best part is, it’s one that he can drive and enjoy!

This GNX represents the first Turbo Buick we have sold since 2009. It was ten years prior to that in 1999 that I sold 44 Turbo Regals and again in 2000 I sold 44 Turbo Regals. Those days are now long gone!

POWERMASTER ARMATURES -
Last week we mentioned the fact that many of the armatures in the electric motors on the powermasters are burned up, which adds additional costs to getting them rebuilt.

AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP WHERE TIME VIRTUALLY HAS STOOD STILL -
Every month I have to go pick up parts from a company in our old neighborhood where we lived in 1970-1972. We actually lived across the street from this shop. Back then we had a towing business. One of the shops I towed for was run by two Italian brothers. They are still in business today.
The one brother is 78 years old and the other is 80 years young. The other day I had our Turbo Regal out and stopped to see them and catch up on old times.
It’s amazing… to me the shop looked like it did over 30 years ago.
PHOTO 4 - The top left photo you can clearly see a red Alfa, and behind it up on a lift is a XKE coupe, 1969 vintage. The top right photo shows a huge array of various tools that cover a wall. The bottom left shows another foreign car, which I believe is an Alfa sedan that looks like it has not moved in several years. The bottom left photo shows an array of parts and supplies that almost totally cover another car that is in the shop. The bottom right photo shows part of their office wall. I think if I looked hard enough, I would be able to find my old business card from when I towed for them.
One of the brothers wants me to find a buyer for their parts. They have a lot of parts, many of which are brand new for British and Italian cars. They also have some Volkswagon parts. One brother also has a DeLorean that belong to one of John Delorean’s brothers. The car is museum quality with 12,000 actual miles. This car is painted black and gold. They also have engines for MBGs and I believe some Alfa engines as well. They want me to find a buyer for their collection.

INTERESTING CLASSIFIED CAR ADS -
I recently saw these two ads in a local Auto Locator magazine. One was describing a 1993 Corvette, “Invigorating High Performance Car gently used.” From what I remember having owned several C4s you had to at least have a 1996 model with the optional LT4 engine coupled to a six speed to own a C4 Corvette that put out any real performance. Most C4 Corvettes you see for sale can be had for under ten to twelve grand. Exceptions being the Grand Sport model or any with the optional LT4 engine or any that had low production figures.
The other ad was for a 2015 Corvette ZO6 with just 10 miles on it. The ad says the owner traded it in on a new ZO7 package Corvette. The Corvette has just 10 actual miles. Sounds like the owner must have just drove it home and parked it!
A WORD ABOUT MANICURED LAWNS -
Most homeowners try to achieve that perfect manicured lawn and usually we all fall short. You have a bare spot, so you seed it, fertilize it, and water it, and it still fails to take root.
A dandelion on the other hand, can grow in a crack on your sidewalk and you can step on it every day and it still thrives.
The perfect lawn exists mainly in three places. They can be found at golf courses, ball parks, and funeral homes. I have yet to see a bad lawn at any of these places.
I remember years ago I was at a meeting with an automotive company that used to buy our parts. As I was talking to the sales person, I looked out the window and noticed this person riding a mower and going up and down the paved driveway of the funeral home in even rows. I could not understand what he was doing until I asked the person I was talking to.
He said every week the caretaker of the funeral home will run the mower up and down the driveway to blow away all the cinders on the driveway.

ORIGINAL GM AC DELCO HEATER WATER VALVE -

Reproduction 3-PIECE and 1-PIECE REAR SPOILERS
These reproduction 3-Piece and 1-Piece Rear Spoilers fit all two-door Regal models from 1984 through the 1987 Regal models, including all the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals.
These reproduction spoilers are made by Spoolfool Productions, which also makes the popular one-piece rear fillers and two-piece front fillers. The same high quality can be seen in these two versions of rear spoilers which are made in the USA using hand laid fiberglass in gloss black gelcoat. Due to the nature of these materials, small imperfections; pits, scratches, air bubbles, etc. are to be expected and are normal for this type of product.
The gelcoat is meant to be painted over, however, many customers are happy with the way they look right out of the box.
Each spoiler comes with mounting screws.
Spoilers are ready to install. Some holes may need to be slightly elongated, as every car is unique from the factory.
The three-piece rear spoiler is an exact match to the original GM Grand National rear spoiler.
The one-piece rear spoiler simply attaches to the trunk lid and over laps both of the rear quarter panel corners. This is similar to the Monte Carlo factory rear deck spoiler.

1986-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT HANGER LOOP
Over time, the factory catalytic converter rubber hanger loop can break away from the original metal catalytic converter bracket.
This rubber exhaust loop can easily be modified to replace the original worn out rubber hanger part on the original rear catalytic converter hanger.
As long as the original metal hanger is still in good shape, you can install this part to replace the rubber loop part on the original hanger. We include mounting hardware, if needed.
The entire factory hanger is no longer available from GM.

It would also be a great gift for your mechanic.
This very detailed manual took over three years to do. Even if you lack mechanical skills, this Guide is worth having to share with your mechanic. It is full of highly-detailed photos and charts, showing all of the possible problems and solutions for diagnosing a powermaster brake unit. Everything can be done using basic hand tools. The Guide runs 90 pages in length.
Here are some of the chapters: Major Component Descriptions and Nomenclature, Powermaster Characteristics During Normal Operation, Common Problems and Which Tests to Run to Address Each One, Flowcharts to Help Diagnose Problems Correctly, The Major Components and How to Test Each One, Maintenance, Tools and Accessories, and Vendor List and Contact Information.
It is spiral bound for easy reading when you are working on the powermaster. As long as the electric motor is not burned out, everything else is available for you to repair a powermaster on your own with this handy Guide.
They also have made all the various O-rings that you need to rebuild a powermaster brake unit. In some cases, they had to have parts reproduced. For example, GM sold just one of the O-rings in the kit for over $30 each. This Powermaster Reproduction O-rings (14) kit is only $39.95, part #7676.
I don't think anyone has more experience with powermaster brake units than Richard Clark. Over the years, he has even made special testing equipment for not only the powermaster brake units but also for other electronic parts found in the Turbo Regals.
He worked with John Norton to compile this easy-to-follow and informative powermaster repair Guide, so you can become better educated on powermasters and not be stressed out the first time the brake light comes on!

1985-1987 Buick Turbo Regal -
POWERMASTER REPRODUCTION O-RINGS (14) KITS
Richard Clark has painstakingly put together this kit of reproduction O-rings specifically for the Turbo Regal power master.
Each kit consists of 14 O-rings, some of which Richard has reproduced to make this a complete kit for the entire powermaster brake unit. It includes not only the O-rings for the brake switch and accumulator bowl, but also the very important power piston sleeve, check valve body master cylinder, etc.
Each package includes a real-size drawing to ensure that the correct O-rings can be easily identified for the proper application. The O-rings should match the drawings exactly.
Since GM has discontinued many of the Buick O-rings, Richard has had to have some of the O-rings reproduced. In one particular case, the O-ring listed for over $30 from GM, making this kit a bargain.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer… If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -
We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these have to be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.
If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
