The stablemate to the incredible 1987 Buick GNX that sold at Mecum Kissimmee 2017 for a record hammer price of $220,000, this 1987 Grand National is the last Buick Grand National offered from the famous Colts Neck Collection of fine American muscle cars, where it received the same high level of care and attention as the GNX. The ‘80s dawned with a renewed desire among enthusiasts for the raw horsepower that had gone missing in the early ‘70s. Technological advances had begun improving performance with computerized fuel injection and ignition controls, but, practically alone among manufacturers, Buick had commenced serious development of production turbocharged engines, introducing the turbocharged Regal in 1978.

The 1984 Grand National set the template for Buick turbo power with a 3.8L turbocharged and intercooled V-6 with sequential fuel injection and a computer-controlled 3-speed automatic transmission driving a limited-slip differential.
Delivered new to Terry Buick in Poughkeepsie, New York, this incredible 1987 Buick Grand National has been driven a mere 102 miles in its 32 years, and it remains in impeccable showroom condition.

Packaged, as always, in sinister-looking black with a gray interior, this final-year Grand National packs the full complement of features that includes a power six-way driver’s seat, power windows, locks and trunk release, air conditioning, cruise control, a rear window defogger, AM/FM/Cassette radio with a Concert Sound speaker system and power antenna, tinted glass, halogen headlights, protective body side moldings and Goodyear Eagle GT tires on special Grand National wheels. Like its record-setting former stablemate from the Colts Neck Collection, this Buick Grand National remains in spectacular, as-original condition. Virtually every single component is original to the car as it was delivered from the factory, including protective plastic coverings on the seats, floors and door panels. Even the factory window sticker is still affixed to the passenger-side window.

In terms of quality and presentation, it is without doubt the equal to its GNX sibling.
