MORE ITEMS FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR -

The following items you can find under Rare Parts for sale. Remember to see the rare parts you must subscribe to in order to see the parts.

I just acquired one of the rare Buick Power Source books. Hard to find and this one is in nice shape. I also picked up at the Magna event a small assortment of brochures and factory Buick stickers which can also be seen in Photo 1. I also got a copy of the Turbo Regal wiring diagram booklet we did several years ago. Over 80 pages of valuable wiring information. Last but not least a super rare top of the line factory correct 1987 Turbo Regal am/fm cassette with EQ option.

The top of the line radio in the 1987 Regal was unique as the face has a silver outline around the outer border. The top of the line radio in the 1986 Regals lacked that silver outline around the outer border according to the brochures and info I have. The trunk ID code for the EQ radio in 1987 is UX1. It had a price tag of $504. In 1986 for example the trunk ID code was the same but the price was a tad bit cheaper. It was $494. I think due to the high price tag of the EQ radio in 1986 and 1987 most owners did not step up to this radio. Besides I don;t think it made much difference compared to the lesser radio as it also had a cassette feature. Besides, cassettes were on their way out as the CD would soon be available in GM production cars and trucks.

PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows the Buick Power Source book. The top right photo shows the assortment of decals and brochures. The bottom left photo shows the 80-page copy of the Turbo wiring information. The bottom right photo shows the extremely rare top of the line 1987 Turbo Regal am/fm cassette radio with EQ option.

1987 BUICK BUYERS GUIDE AND BUICK CLOTHING COLLECTION BROCHURE -

See Photo 2 for photos of these two original 1987 brochures. The rare one being the Buick Collection all designed by Molly. Two pages feature the Grand National shirts, jackets, hats he did and the GNX book. The book is listed for a mere $29.95. I remember having a stack of them, probably 50 or more, as I bought up his remaining stock. He stopped carrying the clothing line a few years later as Buick wanted him to pay a license fee and he refused to do so. You would think they would have granted Molly an exemption because of his involvement in creating the Grand National.

As the cars continue to increase in value the value of any original brochures etc are worth having plus they provide positive proof against so much of the wrong information that can be found on the internet. I don’t claim to know everything about these cars but enough that I could easily give an accurate two hour seminar on. The cars continue to hold a huge fascination among collectors and those that dream about owning one of these cars, specifically a 1986 or 1987 model or the “Holy Grail” a “real” GNX. I had my share of both.

PHOTO 2 - The top left and top right photo show the original 1987 Buick Brochure ove 85 pages. The bottom left and bottom right photo shows the Buick Collection that Molly designed for Buick.

RARE GRAND NATIONAL DIECAST FROM MEXICO -

I can’t recall exactly when, but I ordered off ebay a diecast Grand National that I had never seen before. I remember in the ebay info it was out of Mexico. It finally arrived the other day. It is 1:43 scale according to the package. Also says Made in Bangladesh! I really doubt in that country they ever saw a real Grand National! The packaging does have the GM license trademark on the back.

The detail is quite good. The grey and black seats, power six logo in the wheels, 3.8 decals on the hood, emblems on the exterior. The license plate on the front and rear are Oklahoma plates. The only minor error I see on the exterior is the model has a Buick emblem on the trunk lid opposite the Grand National emblem. Even the tailpipes are correct looking. The third brake light is visible in the back window. Car has a 3-spoke steering wheel. Dash is all grey.

Perhaps just as impressive as the 1:64 scale diecast is the 8 ½ by 11 full color brochure I got with the car. Although all the wording is in Spanish and not English. A full 6 pages in color is devoted to the Buick Grand National and the GNX. All things considered it is a nice example and I am sure it is very rare as I have never seen one from this company before.

PHOTO 3 - The top left we show the cover of the actual brochure that came with the diecast Grand National. The top right photo shows the inside spread showing a 1987 Grand National although it features GNX wheels. The bottom left we show another 2-pages of the Grand National history from the same brochure. The bottom right photo we show the actual 1:64 scale diecast. It measures about 4 ½ inches long. It is listed for sale under Rare Parts.

ONE EXTREMELY RARE F-350 FORD TRUCK FOR SALE NEAR ME -

I go every Thursday to two different bid lots for this small local used car dealership that I hold a sales license with. The one dealer has like a dozen new car dealerships and every week has about 40-60 low end or high mileage cars and trucks they want to unload. I spotted a very unusual truck in their regular used car lot for sale. It was a Ford F-350, a 2018 model. What struck me is it was a short bed, dually. With a regular cab. Something you seldom ever see today. I think the original owner must have specially ordered it.

This F-350 had a no frills interior. STX model with crank windows, grey vinyl seats, and rubber floor covering, not carpeted! Engine is a 6.2 V8, 4 by 4 with 3.73 gears. Besides the factory hitch on the back it is set up for a 5th wheel also. Silver exterior which is absolutely mint. Every part's sticker is still visible on the suspension and springs. Here is the real clincher: the actual miles are only 3,XXX. Not a misprint this truck has only travelled 3,XXX miles since new!. According to the dealer badge on the back it originally was sold in West Virginia. Carfax is clean and never hit. The price tag has been reduced to $48,995. The dealer has had it since September 2nd 2021. They were asking $51,900. The original owner and the second owner had an expensive investment that for whatever reason never got to use it much. Their bottom dollar as of the other day is $48,750.

PHOTO 4 - We show four views of this unique 2018 Ford F-350. I also have a link I can provide that shows more photos and all the options etc. I can also provide a sales person info if you are interested. I do charge a small fee if any reader buys this truck. It is the right color combo and even though 3 years old it is no different than buying a new truck with a mere 3,000 miles on it. Ford trucks for many years have had a huge following. Email me directly [email protected] if you want more information.

BREAKING NEWS -

The day before this Inner Circle came out my son Darrell came back with a trailer load of Turbo Regal parts from a body shop that had the stash in a trailer for probably 10-15 years or longer. I have nothing priced yet. All used. I must have 4 hoods, 3 or 4 front and rear bumpers, rear spoilers, trunk lid, intercoolers, even a brand new 9-hole hood pad. One nice grey rear seat, some power seats as well. Some door panels. The body parts I will not ship you have to pick up once I establish a price. Email me if any of these items interest you [email protected]

Darrell also got a complete turbo regal engine and transmission with a mere 15,000 miles on it. He has not priced it yet.

COMING SOON G BODY REPRODUCTION 15 BY 7 GRAND NATIONAL WHEELS -

We will have the specs and prices on these next week. We will have a special introductory price on them. If you want to be called with this info contact Christina at 215-766-1611. Brian did a super job getting these wheels made. Granted they are not exactly the same as the originals, but the improvements and the fact they are powder coated make them an outstanding reproduction wheel. Having wheels made years ago for the GTO and the first GNX style 16 by 8 wheels I can tell you from first hand experience they are not an easy project to pull off. It makes no sense in my opinion to waste time and money getting original steel Grand National wheels redone.

It is very costly as the original Grand National wheels have to be cut apart in order to be chromed properly. At 30 lbs per wheel you spend several hundred dollars just in shipping costs alone. It can easily run over $1500 to get a set of 4 Grand National wheels redone like new. Buying used Grand National wheels simply based on photos can prove to be a bad move as they almost always look worse in person than the photos. Finding an unused NOS set is extremely difficult to find today and they can be very costly. Having sold two new sets recently myself, I get good money for them. I generally avoid buying used Grand National wheels as conditions can vary so much from what the photo is able to show.

Plus with G Body’s reproduction wheels the weight savings alone is a huge advantage. Many of you have now seen his wheels on various Grand Nationals at car shows. The wheels come complete with lug nuts, valve stem, and 4 new caps complete with the Power Six logo. Better yet his method to secure the center cap is far superior to the method Buick used! Again we hope to have all the info for next week’s inner circle.

Be sure to check out our website kirbanperformance.com We are planning to offer up some Christmas specials. Already at Lowes I have seen artificial Christmas trees on display in the store and it's not even Halloween yet. Temps all last week were still in the mid 80s in my area!

STORY LAST WEEK -

The story I wrote about being stopped by the PA State Trooper got a lot of interest. I appreciate all the nice compliments I get on my stories. I try to keep them car related at least since cars have always been a major part of my life. Some stories just seem hard to believe but they are true. Here is one such story from around 1968-1969 time frame. I had just recently gotten married to my wife Eileen after returning from Vietnam. A very unpopular war! When I was in Vietnam stationed in Nha Trang we actually had wooden barracks to sleep in. The town of Nha Trang was fairly safe to go into. I had an artist do a painting of my girlfriend Eileen on a canvas that I hung above my bunk bed in the barracks. Also had him do one of my 1961 Corvette that I parted with before entering the Army in the fall of 1966.

So one night I am getting gas in Warminster on the main road. My wife Eileen is sitting in the car. I can’t member which car back then may have been my 1950 Ford. A guy pulls up to another gas pump and stares at my wife Eileen very intently. It makes her nervous. Here it turns out he is one of my buddies from Vietnam who lived in my same barracks and had just returned from Vietnam and was heading home in upstate Pennsylvania! What are the chances of all that coming together at the same time! He remembered her picture from the canvas painting that hung above my bunk bed! I regret losing contact over the years with some of the buddies I met in Vietnam. I do remember one guy in particular after he came home from Vietnam his Mom wrote to me that he was killed in a car accident coming home from a High School Reunion. She had discovered my letters in his stuff and wanted me to know. I still to this day remember his name. He survived Vietnam only to be killed less than a year later. Sad……..true stories. This past weekend Eileen was able to uncover the original painting that hung on the wall above my bunk bed in the barracks in Vietnam. I was surprised she found it as I had searched several hours trying to find it! Next week we will show that as well as the other two that I had done in Vietnam.

HALLMARK DIECAST CARS -

Each year Hallmark releases in their Keepsake Collection a Classic American Cars. Ironically, according to the box on the one I just picked up, it was produced in Vietnam. Again doubtful any of those workers ever laid eyes on a GTO Judge! If you had told me 60 years ago that the same country I was in as a soldier would be making diecast American Muscle cars I would never have believed you! Hallmark just did the 1971 GTO Judge. I have about 20 different Hallmark Keepsake Collector cars in my collection including the Buick GSX and the Buick Y-Job one they did a few years ago. Detail is quite accurate aside from the fact they all have a metal loop on the roof to hang on a Christmas tree.

The GTO Judge Is very accurate even down to the decals on the exterior. The color orange appears to be dead on correct. In the real world the 1971 of the 3 year GTO Judges models lags behind the 1969 and the 1970 probably ranks as the highest on the value chain among collectors. The 1971 had a massive long hood. I only owned one 1971 GTO years ago. They run $19.99 in the stores. In Canada the price is $25.99. Gas in Canada now runs over $7.00 a gallon! My friend Jason in Canada says it now costs almost $80 to fill his gas tank on his VW.

REBUILT ORIGINAL AC DELCO MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR

We are one of the very few sources to offer completely rebuilt original AC Delco mass air flow sensors for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regals. New mass air flow sensors have been discontinued from AC Delco for several years.

Other available rebuilt units are rebuilt using late-model Camaro mass air flow sensors, not rebuilt from original 1986-1987 Turbo Regal cores like these.
When comparing ours to the various reproductions, it’s important to note that the original one has the “AC Delco” logo embossed on the top cover, which is visible on the car. Others may not have that feature. We have highlighted the embossed logo area with a red arrow in our first photo.

Ours are 100% correct original mass air flow sensors with the proper plug, which came on the car originally.
Original parts will always be the top choice over any reproduction, especially for those wanting to keep their car original.

Sensor has the harness plug in the proper location and comes with a manufacturer’s 90-day Warranty.

LOCK PILLAR REINFORCEMENT PLATES (2) IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY

This 2mm thick spacer is designed to give the door pin more support.

If you look at the area where the striker is attached, more than likely you will see hairline cracks. They are spot welds that hold a cage nut so you can attach the door striker. These spot welds tend to take the place of one of the 2mm spacers and at the same time give the door striker more support.

This lock pillar reinforcement plate is shaped to look as if it came on the car from the factory. The reinforcement plate measures approximately 4″ x 5″, comes powder-coated glossy black for a lasting finish (glossy black will blend with most dark colors doors and all the Grand Nationals), and are sold as a pair. Plates are easy to install.

It’s interesting to note that GM actually had a recall on another Buick model, the Somerset, back in 1985 for having a similar problem. Their solution at the time was similar to these reinforcement plates.

NOTE - You may also be interested in a related item - #6776 GM Door Strikers (2).

Another excellent replacement for any interior restoration.

AFTERMARKET EPA CERTIFIED LOW RESTRICTIVE STOCK CATALYTIC CONVERTER

Many owners may want to replace the original pancake-style restrictive catalytic converter. This is a unique catalytic converter with the proper custom-made 4-bolt flange at the back end. The overall length is 18 inches. This is a direct bolt in replacement and similar to the one we offered over 20 years ago. This only works with the stock 2-1/2 inch diameter downpipe.

It will bolt up to the stock exhaust or to the Pypes Dual Exhaust system, Part #6996, we sell.

Original catalytic converters can easily become clogged over a long period of time. They are also a lot more restrictive due to its pancake style. Some states have very strict laws regarding emissions equipment, even on older cars.

This catalytic converter also can lower any drone sound the current mufflers may make.
We offer this low restrictive catalytic converter, which weighs less than 8 pounds and is EPA certified! It is not a universal converter, but one with the correct 4-bolt flange on the one end that will directly bolt into your Turbo Regal.

With the amount of heat turbo cars develop, the converter can begin to break down internally and clog the exhaust system.

The EPA rules dictate that replacement catalytic converters must go in the same location as the original converter. This unit bolts into that same area and has the same mounting flange.

This catalytic converter comes complete with the 4-bolt exhaust flange. This 4-bolt flange is very unique to these cars as no other G-body application has this style flange. We also offer the 4-bolt flange, Part #7947, by itself for those of you that may want to get a test pipe made for off road use only.

Another excellent replacement for any exhaust restoration.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
