Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members - 10-17-2012
MORE PICTURES FROM RACEWAY PARK -
As we noted last week, we have more photos from our trip to Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey. They did have a car show that Saturday as well.
One of the most unusual Buicks I spotted at the car show was a Riviera model that I was not aware even existed. According to the sale sign, it was a 1978 model marking the 75th Anniversary of Buick. Production of this unique Riviera was limited to 2,899.
PHOTO 1 - The top left photo shows a photo of this unique 1978 Riviera. The top right photo is a close up of the lower front passenger's side fender showing the unusual fender emblem that reads "BUICK LXXV," which stands for 75. The lower left photo is a close up of one of the chrome wire mesh wheels. One can imagine how rare those wheels are today! The lower right photo shows the back end of this Riviera.
The two-tone paint combination reminds me of the WH1 option that would be offered later on the 1984-and-up Turbo Regals. The same color combination was also available around the same time period on the Corvette.
PHOTO 2 - This is a factory photo of the unique 75th Anniversary Riviera from the Book entitled, "THE BUICK A COMPLETE HISTORY Revised 5th Edition." According to the write up in this book, this special Riviera was introduced in February 1978 at the Chicago Auto Show. Besides the unique paint treatment, the interior was finished in grey leather. The instrument panel trim plates were in dark brushed silver and a sport steering wheel had a dark brushed silver accent.
It would be the following year, 1979, that the Riviera S-Type model was introduced with the turbo engine. The S-Type designation was short lived and was only used on the Riviera model. In 1983 the T-Type designation was introduced on five Buick models.
PHOTO 3 - From my private collection, this photo shows an original S-Type fender emblem (top) with the first version T-Type fender emblem below it. The T-Type emblem only measured about 3-1/2" long. I believe the small T-Type emblem shown here was only used on the 1983 Regal models. They went to the larger emblem on the 1984 Regal T-Type.
PHOTO 4 - The T-Type emblem, which most of our readers would be familiar with, can be seen iat the top in this photo. This is a 1984-1986 T-Type fender emblem. (I am not sure if some 1984 T-Type Regals had the smaller T-Type emblem). This emblem measures almost 5" long.
The emblem at the bottom of this photo shows what was probably the longest T-Type Buick exterior emblem, which appeared on the Century model. This emblem measures 10-1/2" long. From my research, the T-Type model on the Century was only offered one year, 1986. This would make this emblem quite rare to find today. You can see how the T-Type portion was identical on both emblems.
GNX FOR SALE -
A customer of ours wants to sell his GNX. Years ago I bought 3 of his Turbo Regals.
The GNX is all stock, never modified. He has changed the tires. Car has always been garaged.
Here are the issues: The headliner is starting to droop. The fillers are starting to crack, front and rear. The antenna does not work.
When my customer took ownership and the mileage reported to Carfax got messed up. Carfax shows that mileage exceeds the limits. All common problems. Car has just 10,300 miles but the Carfax shows over 99,000.
The price is $48,500. This GNX is very fairly priced, if you want one to enjoy. Car is located in Maryland near the Washington DC area. The owner does not have a computer, so I can't send photos.

We now have new original 10 ohm Delco 4” by 10” rear speakers available for all the 1984-1987 Regals (All Models).
1984-1987 Buick Regal (All Models) -
10 ohm DELCO REAR SPEAKERS (2)
Because of the age of these cars, the original speakers may be cracked from the heat or age.
We offer these 4" by 10" correct 10 ohm Delco rear speakers, which were made by Pioneer for Delco electronics back in 1985-1986. They actually came out of Kokomo, Indiana and been in storage since that time. Supplies are limited.
We used to sell original Delco speakers years ago. Finding 10 ohm correct Delco speakers today with the correct style plug on them has been next to impossible. We recently found a source and now can offer them in pairs.
These have the correct connectors, so the original wire end will plug into each speaker. They are the correct size to seat properly in the spring-loaded cage, which secures each speaker to the back deck behind the rear seat. Just like the originals, these were made in Japan.
These are 100% brand new and have had excellent storage since they were made. These are the correct current replacement speakers for the back deck area for the 1984-1987 Regal models with the standard four-speaker system or a factory Concert Sound II system (six speakers), and are sold as a pair.

Once again we find ourselves needing complete powermaster brake cores. By complete we mean they must have a brake bowl, switch, and reservoir with lid. They can't look like they have been sitting 6 months in the local river.

2012 CALENDAR OF EVENTS -
THIS WEEK - 2012 GS NATIONALS -
OCTOBER 17-20, 2012 - Wednesday - Saturday
Beach Bend Raceway, Bowling Green, Kentucky
Racing is FREE on Wednesday, October 17th. The correct dates are October 17-20, 2012. Because of the reschedule, they have negotiated FREE racing on Wednesday, October 17th. This includes "everyone" who comes thru the gate and pays the usual nominal entrance fee. There is NO usual additional charge to race your Buick powered cars on Wednesday.
The BCA (Buick Club of America) will be joining the GSCA event. This combination will make for a well-rounded event featuring all kinds of Buicks. This is one fall event you do not want to miss!
In addition to having representatives from Reynolds Buick of Wes Covina CA in attendance, it appears they also may have Jim Bell of Kenne-Bell fame also in the house. Don Reynolds Buick sponsored Pop Kennedy's unbeatable Buick's starting in '59 thru the early 60's.
Also scheduled to be in attendance and possibly racing is famed CA Buick racer Fred Caitlin. Reynolds Buick will be celebrating their 100th Anniversary as a Buick dealer and will be highlighted and honored during the event. Add to this, the presence of BCA members attending, should offer additional interest and fun at the event.
Once again we will be attending this national event as we have every year since 1988. Pete Hoffman and, of course, Richard Clark will be there too. Be sure to bring us any powermaster brake cores and turbo cores for credit!
