Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members  1987 GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP FOR SALE - I just got word another customer of ours who has owned this extremely nice 1987 Grand National since 2011 is needing to sell his pride and joy due to health issues. He has all the records back to 2003. Car has been extremely well cared for with many of the up-grades we recommend and sell to maintain the car. Car is well optioned as well. Car has been repainted prior to Ron purchasing the car. One previous owner did the AVC dash upgrade which we used to sell in the early 1990s which features all VDO gauges. This car is in exceptional condition. Owner just installed all new TA radial tires about two weeks ago. Car is located in PA. The owner is asking $46,900. Car has a clean carfax and miles is about 62,000. I will have pictures and more exact details later this week. Email me [email protected] PHOTO 1 - We show four photos of this extremely well cared for 1987 Grand National hardtop. Car has won multiple trophies. Ron also has a highly detailed Appraisal from 2018 from Terry Shaw who I know personally. In 2018 the car had 61,483 miles. The appraised value inJune of 2018 was $48,500. If you do the math the car has only gone 500 miles since 2018 until now 2022! With the Appraisal and several trophies you got positive proof this car is a worthwhile investment. Especially true since the car has only gone 500 miles since that time till now! VETERANS DAY - As many long time readers of my weekly and printed newsletters I served in Vietnam in 1967-1968. I was very fortunate as prior to my three year stint in the Army I was a wedding photographer while a senior in High School. When my father had two weddings on the same day I covered one wedding on my own. It was not a Saturday job I enjoyed, having to boss older people around and wear a suit and tie! What I did not realize at the time was how valuable that experience would become when I landed in Vietnam. When the plane landed in Vietnam this Sargent came up to us as we lined up by the plane and asked who here can take pictures? I was one of three who raised our hands. He then took the three of us into a building and we took a test. I can’t recall what the test involved, but I do remember that I passed the test and landed the job first as photographer for the 17th Aviation Group headquartered in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Before long I also became a writer for the newspaper as well. Later I also became the editor for the 17th Aviation Group. The newspaper for the 17th Aviation Group was called the Eagle Talons. I guess you could say I honed my writing skills at a very early age of 18 in Vietnam! In Vietnam you could only take black and white photos. I used a German camera that I had used to shoot wedding pictures. It took 2 ¼ negatives which was superior to the standard smaller size negatives of the military camera. . I always knew my father served in the Navy in World War II. I knew he served on the ship U.S.S. Polana. What I only found out earlier this year from my one sister who had a bunch of his papers is that my Dad was the editor of the U.S.S. Polana newspaper called the Sea Breeze in 1945! A coincidence that both my Dad and I served as editors in the military. Him in the Navy and myself in the Army. I was very fortunate to have the position of editor and photographer while in Vietnam. I mostly took photos of award ceremonies, or various events. Also any non combat accidents. I took the photos so it could be determined what caused the crash. I got to photograph some of the top military leaders including General West Moreland at the time I was stationed in Nha Trang. PHOTO 2 - The photo to the left shows a copy of one of my Dad's editorial pages. He is listed as editor S. Kirban from the U.S.S. Polana published the 28th day of May 1945. The photo to the right shows one of the stories I did as a writer for the 17th Aviation Group. Later I would become the editor. After my year stunt in Vietnam I had what had to be one of the best assignments to close out my 3 year commitment. I was stationed at 401 North Broad Street Philadelphia, PA. I gave written tests to incoming draftees and enlistees. Later I gave that end of the day speech before the new recruits would board the trains heading to basic training. Usually Fort Gordon, Georgia or Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Duty at an Induction Center like this was a typical 9 to 5 job and I got to go home every night. It would be over 20 years later before another very unusual set of circumstances would appear that would connect my time in Vietnam with a current Turbo Regal customer! We will share that story in next week’s Inner Circle. FEW UNUSUAL CARS FOR SALE NEAR OUR HOUSE - These 3 cars are all sitting on one small lot for sale. The one BMW model is quite rare, a 1991 BMW 850 coupe. It has a price tag of $32,500. The mileage is 79,000. The black BMW sedan is a 1995 BMW 740 priced at $22,500. Last but not least is a 1995 Mercedes Benz SL 500 which is a V8. I didn't make a note of the price of the Mercedes Benz. Of the 3 the 850 BMW is the nicest. PHOTO 3 - The top left and top right photo shows the bright red BMW 850 coupe. The bottom left shows the Mercedes Benz SL 500. The bottom right shows the 740 BMW sedan. I can get more info on any of these cars and the person to contact. Two of these cars have the optional built-in remote phone that was in its infancy back in the early 1990s. LATEST PARTS PICTURED I HAVE FOR SALE UNDER RARE PARTS - PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows 3 metal diecast cars made for Reader's Digest back in 2001. They are GM licensed. The top right photo shows a pair of original aluminum Turbo Regal brake drums. Been blasted. They are good to go. The bottom left photo shows a brand new GM in the original box tail light lens for the right side (passenger). The bottom right photo shows a NOS GM right side (passenger), the plastic chrome surround for the tail light lens shown in the third picture. See the Rare Parts section for prices. COMING NEXT WEEK THIS NEW ARTWORK FEATURING THE WE4-GN-GNX- After several weeks we have now approved the final of the artwork that features the 3 most popular 1987 Turbo Regals in one art print. We are working with a well known artist that has done work for GM, Ford, Chrysler, Corvette Museum, Revell , and Monogram. The artwork will show the WE4-Grand National-GNX. We came up with the perfect tag line that will appear under the 3 Turbo Regals. “Buick’s Triple Black Threat” WE4 - GRAND NATIONAL - GNX. I was surprised at how much you forget as I wanted the artist to make them dead exactly as they are. For example, I had forgotten initially that the WE4 did not get a rear spoiler. Plus initially the artist had chrome lug nuts on the GNX wheels. Then we had forgotten to put a bump on the passenger fender to indicate the bezel for the power antenna. The artist also had to get the hood emblems correct on the side of the hood scoop. The artwork shows how each of the three 1987 Turbo Regal models have distinctive different wheels. Also the Power Six logo in the GN and GNX headrest. We will also give credit to the several people that helped me with photos showing exact placement of certain features. This artist is really really good. My plan going forward is to duplicate the 3 different models in other prints for other cars. The next one I am having this artist do will feature the 1964 GTO post coupe, the 1965 GTO hardtop and the 1966 GTO convertible with a clever caption under it. The 3 most popular years in the 3 different body styles. Each in a distinctive color. Each artwork will have the same format of 3 models in the same art print. These various banners I will be wholesaling to the major companies. The Turbo Regal one will be offered in a 1 ft by 3 ft high quality 13 ounce vinyl banner. We will have this new banner pictured in next week's Inner Circle. They are being made locally to me so shipping will all come from my Pennsylvania location. Especially now with Spring and Summer fast approaching. We handle the advertising and answering the questions and weeding out the tire kickers. We never give out the exact location of your car. You decide on the price after any bargaining is done. The money goes directly from the buyer to your bank account. I have a flat commission based on the price span. This format has worked out very well for me for both the buyer and the seller. The buyer has more confidence about the car especially if you are a long time owner and a customer of ours. . The seller is not bothered with phone calls or emails. Most potential buyers know who I am. So whenever the time comes you want to sell your car, email me the particulars. I can explain the process to you which also allows you to sell the car as well. My email is [email protected] I can also help you determine the price. I can also take in a trade and pay you the seller the difference. I have worked with JJ Best in the past which is quite generous in granting loans. So you have plenty of options. NOTE - ABOUT LINKS IN THE INNER CIRCLE - We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle. When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another. Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works. You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version. NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE - We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo. If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]
