Greetings Turbo Regal Inner Circle Members 08-12-2020 -

CUSTOM BANNERS WE HAD DESIGNED FOR DARRELL'S 50TH BIRTHDAY -

First, I like to thank all of you that took time to email Darrell on his 50th birthday last Wednesday. I think he got about 25 or 30 emails from our customers. We always try and get him something unique for his birthday and this year was no exception.

One of the cartoonists we’ve used was recovering from a bad case of shingles. The other cartoonist, Fred Boatman, who did work for Hot Rod and Car Craft, passed away last year.

Luckily I was able to find an artist, Varun Pathak, near us that has done various styles of artwork including caricatures and photo collages. We then provided the artist with various photos of Darrell, Carrie and Devyn and their dog and cat. We also sent favorite photos from their life, including their Cigarette boat and the F-650 Ford truck he built, the cover of the book he wrote, and the Kit Car Magazine he was featured in.

The end result came out great. I had a local shop that makes banners for us to do a 2 foot by 4 foot banner from each of the files that Varun created. Eileen also worked with Varun to create the collage arranging a variety of photos she had dating back to when Darrell was about 2 years old.

Both banners were a huge hit with Darrell. I like the caricature one. In the caricature artwork you can see Devyn holding a State Penn flag. She attends Penn State, which I always refer to as “State Penn.” You can also see the Penn State lion in the photo.

Varun always liked art in books and comics and drawing has been a lifelong hobby as well as his education at Academy of Art University (AAU) San Francisco. This has given him the tools and experience to realize his goals. He has done various drawings in his area for books and pamphlets that teachers use in aiding their lessons. He has also done illustrations for the book entitled, “Goldy and Friends and Their Amazing Adventure” by Dr Frederick J. Zorn.

If you are looking for a unique gift, this is one idea to consider. It takes about 2 weeks. He shows you a rough design to approve before doing the more detailed art. If you are interested in contacting him, his email is - [email protected]

PHOTO 1 - We show both of the 2 foot by 4 foot full-color vinyl banners we gave Darrell for his birthday. The photo on the left shows the collage with a wide variety of photos and his various accomplishments. The photo on the right shows the caricature of Devyn, Carrie, and Darrell with their Cigarette boat and F-650 Ford truck he built. Also pictured is their cat Daisy and their dog Dozer. The lion is the famous Penn State Lion mascot. The detail is excellent. This is one clever gift idea for that special someone in your life.

1986-1987 BUICK TURBO REGAL DUAL FAN INSTALLATION BRACKET -

This custom made bracket is now in stock. Made from ⅛ inch thick aluminum it will never rust. The bracket comes with detailed directions. It is designed to work with the popular Dodge Intrepid dual fan setup we sell along with the plug and play harness made by Casper's Electronics. This positions the dual fan to sit flush against the radiator and towards the top. The best part is no holes need to be drilled in your radiator support. The Dodge Intrepid dual fan is probably the most popular choice when you upgrade to a dual fan format. The Intrepid fans are readily available and plastic so they will never rust. The Dodge Intrepid dual fan is a nice upgrade that looks factory when installed.

PHOTO 2 - We show this custom made aluminum bracket. It is in stock for immediate delivery. Part #7914 price is $42.95.

A FEW MORE USED AND NEW 1986 AND 1987 TURBO REGAL PARTS -

Once again we have some used parts available and some seldom seen NOS parts available. All these you can find listed with a price under the Rare Part section. You need to act quick as demand on some of these parts is quite high due to their rarity.

PHOTO 3 - The top left photo shows a brand new 1986-1987 Turbo Regal mass air duct hose with the original box. The top right photo shows a brand new 1986-1987 mass air duct hose, with a brand new boost line and a brand new adjustable wastegate actuator. The original boxes are also in the same picture. The bottom left photo shows for the 1986-1987 Turbo Regal a fairly new up pipe, and turbo shield. Also new bolts. The bottom right photo shows a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal air cleaner assembly complete with the bracket.

PHOTO 4 - The top left photo shows the ultra rare 1989 Turbo Trans AM decal kit with full color Turbo Trans Am brochure, key fob, owners manual holder, and cassette. The top right photo shows a 1986-1987 Turbo Regal complete air cleaner assembly with duct and an original mass air flow sensor.

The bottom left photo shows two original used intercooler hoses with 4 original used clamps, clip for the shifter handle, c-clip for the wastegate actuator, clip for the power window switch or door switch and a plug for the water pump nose. The bottom right photo shows a used powermaster molded hose to the pump, a used powermaster reservoir cap with gasket, plug for the water pump nose, clip for the shifter handle clip for the wastegate actuator and a clip to secure the wire connector to the back of the door switch or window switch.

WORKING ON A FEW IDEAS -

I have two more ideas that if all goes well will see production later this year. One is a part we sold years ago that I am thinking about bringing back. It will fit all the 1984-1987 Turbo Regals and is an appearance item. The other item has been made but I am looking at using a different material to make it cheaper.

GRAND NATIONAL IN POLAND? -

A rare sighting would be to see a Grand National in Poland. We actually have a customer that has a Grand National in Poland. He also owns a 1965 and 1971 Riviera GS model and a 1965 Ford Thunderbird. He believes and I see little reason to doubt him, he probably has the only Grand National in Poland. He says there's at least 1 or 2 Typhoons and Syclones in the country as well. My guess is more Yugos are in Poland than Grand Nationals. Even getting regular parts must be a major chore. I know when he buys parts from us, we ship to an express company in Illinois.

MEMORIES FROM MY PAST -

I recently been going every Sunday to this huge swap meet in nearby Quakertown. I go to buy DVDs for $1 each to send to my younger brother. Then last Sunday I bumped into a school classmate of mine. He actually sets up every weekend as a vendor at this swap meet. We were long time friends going back to grade school. We talked over old memories. He reminded me that my nickname in those early years was the “Junkman” as I was always trying to sell something.

I remember once I reached driving age I would buy various cars and to keep peace at my house I would stash them at his house as they had bigger property. We had a neighbor that did not like to see cars parked in the street overnight. What I usually would do is Eileen’s older sister Paulette had a drivers license so I would take her to pick up any car I bought. I would simply “borrow” one of my parents car plates to pick up the car. I remember this one time when both my parents were going out and my sister's new boyfriend was at our house. She would later marry him and they are still married to this day.

I figured he would be there all afternoon so without asking him I simply took the plate off his car figuring I would be back before he left my parents house. I guessed wrong. Not only did he leave my parents house before I got back, but he got pulled over by the local cops for driving without a license plate on the car. Course he could not explain what happened to his license plate. I forget the consequences, but needless to say we got off on a bad footing and I learned a valuable lesson. Always ask the owner first before removing a license plate to retrieve a car. Back then I would just jump titles as the state laws were pretty loose back then. Neither was insurance a requirement.

So, my car buying experiences goes back to my early teenage years. Another classmate of mine from high school reminded me at one of our Reunion dinners, that I sold him a 1958 Ford for the substantial sum of $40. At the time due to a major argument with his folks he was living with us. Not long after his $40 purchase the 1958 Ford caught fire on our driveway. I can’t remember if I gave him a refund on his purchase or had the 72 hour warranty expired! This classmate would enter the buddy program with me when we both joined the Army in the fall of 1965. Apparently the car deal did not sour our friendship!

MORE PARTS ARE BEING DELAYED IN SHIPPING -

We have not gotten them since the Spring!. Also the stock appearing intercooler hose set (3) #7553 will not be available until the end of August. It seems that parts that originate from overseas are constantly being delayed. Also T-Top weatherstrips #7375 we have no time frame from our supplier when we will have them available.

The only constant is we still are able to send you our weekly Inner Circle every Wednesday!

FOR SALE – 1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL HARDTOP -

The following information is for Joe Boyle’s 1987 Grand National that he is selling. He has owned this 1987 Grand National since 1988.

Here is a chance to own a very well cared for 1987 Grand National hardtop owned by the same owner since 1988. Joe has been a long time customer of ours and has brought this pride and joy to several of our Open House and reunion events. This is one of the very few Grand Nationals that the SPID label (trunk label) has been personally signed TWICE by Molly at two different Reunion events, including the last one he attended in 2007.

Joe Boyle bought this Grand National in July 1988. This car has been well maintained by Richard Clark of Burlington, NC. Car has been to several Kirban Open House events. It is basically stock and has all the brace kits installed, all new body bushings, and the window rattle kits installed by Pete Hoffman. It has recently been serviced by Richard Clark. Richard put a value of $33,000 on the car.

It has become a daily driver for a while now and Joe is looking to sell it to someone who will enjoy it as much as he has through the years. He has the original Window Sticker. Car has 174,000 miles on it and Joe can provide you with the history of the car. Car runs extremely well and just needs a little TLC. NOTE: NEW LOWER PRICE 24,500 or BEST OFFER.

We have heard from a couple people that have had problems with the links in our Inner Circle.

When we check the links, they work fine. However, if you are not able to be directed to the exact website page or internet site, you can "copy" and "paste" the link into the URL in your browser (such as Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) If it doesn't link in one browser, it may work in another.

Most people having problems are using Internet Explorer. If you are having issues with links, try another browser to see if it works.

You may need to "UPDATE" your browser to be used if you are using the current version.

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE -

We have heard from a couple people that have viewed the photos on the website. Because these must be low-resolution photos to work on the Inner Circle segments on the website, any photos of text don't appear clear when enlarged. This is a problem when you are trying to see numbers, such as those on the VIN labels or pages from Options booklet. Also, because of photo reproduction and computer screen variations, the colors may not be true to the actual product or photo.

If you would like to have us email you any photo at the higher resolution for viewing, just email us and we will email them to you. Be sure to be specific on which pictures you want to see - Reference Inner Circle date and photo number 1, 2, 3 or 4 - [email protected]

ABOUT OUR EMAILS -

Any inquiries concerning used parts, you must email me directly - [email protected] - and I will answer you. However, if I fail to answer you within 24 hours, please email us again. IN CLOSING –

Remember, if you have any NOS or good used parts you do not need, consider selling the part to us or trade for parts we have for your project.
